Very nice! Much better result. I would like you see you do the exact same test again... except screen your material to 1/4" (5mm) or 1/8" (2.5mm). Jason is always talking about how you need to screen your cons so the tiny beach gold isn't competing with "big" pea gravel. I'd be curious to know if screening to get say another 0.5% is worth the time? There seemed to be a lot of big material in the god hog. Just an idea.
Most of what I ran through was screened to 1/4" with a few exceptions that may have came in paydirt bags. I hear you though Chris, unfortunately nobody makes a really good 1/8 field classifier except arbor fab ($150). You are absolutely right, I think I remember Jason using some punch plate on his high banker at the beach, I may have to think of something!
👍👍 So I watched Jason run, his smooth water, sluice head, and I noticed that when the water very first comes off of the slick onto the sluice there is a dead zone where a lot of that shiny shiny gold packs up in there It’s a nice dead zone. It’s pretty awesome though it’s interesting to see what kind of losses you have vs the gains both good products
Honestly (and I don't pretend to be a "know it all" here).... The first dead zone in every sluice is going to capture a bunch of gold that is desperate to fall out.... It's what everything does after that dead zone that matters..... Keep in mind, I ran both sluices at 9 degrees of pitch, didn't moderate the flow speed at all and just ran it full open and these were my results!
I am impressed myself! And surprised!.... Thanks for watching and, yeah, 25th anniversary of the Phantom Menace had SW in my head when I was editing :)
Another great video. Sweet sluice setup. I just purchased a sluice mat mold and going to try my hand at making silicone matting. Just for sh•ts and giggles. 🤭
Have you seen Jason at FGW's videos on that?.... I am super interested in trying as well, but I figure I'd bugger it up so bad I would spend more on silicone than for a mat.... lol
I may look to some silicone mats in the future actually, so will keep them in mind... The only worry I have with silicone is that my mats get banged around a lot in the pack, so they have to be durable..
So I have ran just about every mat, and for what it is the silicon mat itself, a bear could chew on it and it would probably be usable. I just got a new one made for me. So I will be posting some video with some tests. Also gold is hydrophobic as well as silicon, they love sticking together. @@AllThingsCountry74
@@jamesculver829 Nice!.... Just subbed as I would love to check it out!... Most of the silicone mats I have seen were homemade ones guys ran at the beach and they didn't look too durable, very interested...
I got it off of Amazon....just search up ",digital scale 0.001".... It's kind of a trade off because the extra decimal of accuracy means it makes out at 20 grams....
I got my Dream Mat Clean Up Buddy the other day… it’s about the size of your battery for your sluice. Lol… the thing is TINY. I don’t know what I expected, but it’s definitely much smaller than I thought. I used it once and my smoke detector went off, not sure if that’s related somehow but it was weird. Anyways, it catches gold that’s for sure. Haven’t gone through the tailings yet, I’m sure some got away, the thing is only 12 inches long.
Funny you should ask that.... I have a gear video coming up that talks about the cost.... In my opinion (yes, my opinion), the goldhog with legs is the best deal on the market at $134 US..... The bare Dream mat sluice with one mat and no legs was around $100
It's probably from bad camera work on my end :) ...I usually get it pretty clean, but I need ot get a scale that shows up on camera a lot better so I don't have to adjust the camera exposure so folks can read the numbers...
As a Gen Xer the Star Wars always gets me nostalgic. Great vid. I did watch your last vid when you ran the DreamMat up top and how well the Smoothwater 6 ran on that sluice box. Got me interested bc I have the exact same sluice, came with both the Mini and Micro. So I got in touch with Jason to try to order one from him. $40USD for unit and over $60USD just for the shipping is what he quoted me. I told him it would be worth it to see if he could USPS it to me snail mail, no rush. Still ended up being over $45USD to ship, making it well over $100 in Canucky-bucks. How did you get yours? Did he just send you it try out?
Glad you liked the SW!.... It's the 25th anniversary of Phantom Menace (love it or hate it) Honestly, I was the first to get one in Canada and yeah, he isn't pulling your chain, it was $64 USD when he shipped it.... I can't figure that out either.... If you look at his channel, I had sent him a HUGE box of stuff from here (I am one of his Patreons) that was way heavier than that sluice head and it cost me about $45 Canadian..... Not sure what's up with USPS but I can tell you that Jason is only charging you what it cost him unfortunately...
@@AllThingsCountry74 Oh i know he is not trying to make money off the shipping. I just figured $100 CAD would be almost as much as it would cost me, or even be worth it to me, to spend on a header box. I could just bodge one together, but his would be way better. Looks like bodging will be on the menu. Thank you for the info. Keep the vids coming 🤙
I'm actually going to be testing that today on a live stream..... I think the micro mat will do a great job in the fines but I don't have a lot of confidence that the 16" sluice will capture in the high 90's by itself....
Cool setup indeed fam 😎. Great job getting that Au. Keep on having fun getting that Au and living the dream. Gold Squad Out 🤠
Cheers bro!
Good setup nice to meet you
Cheers Lucy :)
Excellent work my friend...love it!
Cheers buddy!
Well done 😊
The only suggestion I have is more of this .
Best opening I've seen in a long time.
Cheers Brian!.... Thanks for watching!

Great to have you on the team!
98.87% recovery rate is very good. I only have the Dream Matt mini. Am satisfied.
Nice essay from FGW 👍🤠
Yes, I am very happy with that recovery rate for sure! I really like the mini mat as well, the only thing is that it needs lots of flow.
On board for the ride great vids intro on point👏👍👌
Thanks! Love me some Star wars!

Im hoping the dream mat micro does me right at the beach too !
It seems great.... Not a lot of cons, that's for sure.... I am still sceptical, I really like GoldHog motherlode...
Great video Country!
The editing is spot on! I would have liked to see inside the box while you were feeding it!
Heavy Pans!!!
Thanks for the feedback Rob! I just got a gopro for stuff exactly like that!
Best intro ever i was not ready for that
Don't feel bad, half the time these videos evolve when I am making them... When I started, I didn't expect doing it either.... lol
Fun fun👍⛏️
Great to see you Wally!, thanks for watching!
Great videos. Ive enjoyed watching several of them. Love the editing too. Laughing is part of the fun of learning. Well done.
Thank you so much! I appreciate your spirit! Creativity, laughing and having fun is why I do this!
Those numbers are rather impressing, also love the starwars theme to the episode hah.

I have seen those....They definitely catch gold, not sure how much...
Your story is hilarious, that would have made for a great video!

You just have to classify your material down and figure out what mesh size works best for your equipment.
