*edit*: The response to this video has been quite large. I have tried to get back to some people but man there are so many in depth questions and responses it will be impossible for me to get back to every one! SO i will just leave this here because its the most common theme in all the questions, the pan loses gold out of the handle holes, no amount of modification to the matting or classifying the dirt will fix that. It appears faster but processes less dirt ultimately making it slower. Before you leave a comment just remember this is a very thinned down version of what I did to test this pan, I spent 4 weeks with it out in the field trying heaps of different soils, locations and methods. And if you watch till the end I explain in depth why I think being honest is important . I put this video out with the idea that most people will understand this, otherwise the video would be 2 hours long! Beyond that don't go hating on the truth, if someone sends me something they better be prepared for me to pull it apart and see if it really works. Love you all, merry Christmas xo
Yes, Merry Christmas. Funny that I read this far into your comment, I would normally just watched your vids. I have been working on a project that thought I might send your way. Now I realize it needs more work. Respect...
Have you ever made a silicone matt ? Might help in a regular gold pan in the bottom to capture more gold. It works good in a sluice on that fine beach gold we got in Oregon. Great Video thanks
You should do a test of the Pyramid Pro Pan ......I've used one for years and can go through a 5 gallon bucket very quickly, it's light and has a lifetime guarantee. Prayers for the Aussie firefighters and love the channel keep it coming.
Gold Hog is missing one of the key ingredients you mentioned; feedback. Any channel that routinely disables comments on their videos I just assume is full of crap. Hey Great Vid !!!! You mentioned something in this video that makes so much good sense I hope most people picked up on !!! Seeded gold vs unprocessed gold !!! There is a huge difference !!! Thanks again for a great video !!!!
I purchased a very large number of gold pans to see which ones I would like best... also to see if their was a pan and process that could rival or keep up with a small sluice box on fine and ultra-fine gold. When the gold is very small (as in this video) screening down to a 1/2, 1/4 or 1/8th mesh beats the crazy out of trying to speed pan all of the big rocks greater than 1/2 inch and the rest of the smaller material. A better use of 99 us dollars would be better spent on SE classifiers 1/2, 1/4 and a Turbopan and or Garrett Supersluice and a Hex Pan to finish . Every pan and classifier made by XP is great! Including the Batea which is a great speed production pan. The 1/2" minelab clasifier is a great classifier. The Proline pans are great. Martin hard plastic pans are also very good. I use my Estwing steel pan to dig, scoop and also to classify. Because I was trying to greatly increase my daily production... I bought the largest of the offered pan sizes... (like the Gold Claw P roduction pan) which now I think was a mistake as the 14" and 15" pans are easier to operate and may prove to be just as productive in the long run. So if your taking concentrates home to process later the Gold Claw, the Turbopan and the XP Batea are my top 3 production pans. A skilled operator could also add the Proline pan and Garrett Supersluice. The big pans are usefull for other things besides panning, like classifying, loading a sluice box ect. So if your first pan can't be a Turbopan-Hex pan combo then get a Supersluice or XP standard pan set and get a 1/2 or 1/4" classifier and a small shovel like the one used in this video and then just keep adding to your tool set and knowledge over time. Maybe the GH pan is a bust... but the GH videos on you tube on how to pan for gold using a regular pan is great! Thank-you so much for all of your great videos!
I watch a lot of your videos, yours and PioneerPauley's are fun and informative to watch, thanks for making them. I would love to give that a try, but it would seem pointless in my area - Southeast Missouri. Everything I've read says any gold that can be panned is to the north of me, and, at that, pickin's be slim. While I ain't looking to do it to strike it rich, I would at least like to get enough to make it seem worthwhile, just for the thrill of actually getting that guitar pick pile of gold, or finding a picker or a nugget, nowhere to snipe gold with a snorkle. So I enjoy seeing you guys having fun, and actually getting that gold.
I luv the honesty in this vid,,,people like you i luv to listen too, because your geniune,,you have no reason or gain too makeup anything thats not real ,,,thankyou my friend as we appreciate it,,,rob down under
Chris; what a well put together video! HONEST, thankyou! I figured there was some loss issues with the Flow Pan and you proved them. We all appreciate the effort you put in to test this well, knowing that not everyone likes the truth. You did a top job! Top stuff.
Honest review Chris, Sometimes you have to wonder when a company sends you something to review that they’re expecting a biased review but you kept it real
Only seen the video you have mentioned. I was looking on line where to order , because i was impressed . And then i came to your little ripper of " trying " it out video , and me thinks i stay with my metal pan . But will look into getting the blue set i have seen you use in other videos . Thank you for your amazing vids. Love your puppy Grizzly.
THANK YOU! I've been asking for reviews on the large variety of pans on the market. As a noob, I wanted to see how these products perform outside of the commercial. This is an excellent tutorial vid. Thank you for doing this!
Just thought of it about this pan. Put a flapper on each side to hold more when your churning the slery up and let them go when you start the side to side motions. Might be able to hold more and let the gold settle better.
Yep modify that pan exactly what I thought ,any ol Aussie could fab them up n no shipping Put a Vogus sticker on it Iv tried ordering docs matting what a pain in the arse, plus the biggest sluices in alaska run the simple methods n make money
I must say Chris the flower on your hat is lovely,is it a poppy by chance, and your review of the gold hog sluice was spot on thanks mate, happy prospecting...

Great video!!! As I suspected the flow pan is not worth it. I never really liked the idea of it and you proved it to me. Thanks for the honest review!!!
I love my minelab pan it’s large and I love how the riffles are configured plus it’s blue so the gold stands out better I also have a couple Garrett pans they are also good
Great review Chris, I'm still new to the game. Between you Klesh, Paulie, 2 toes, Jeff Williams and Dan I'm learning a lot on what to look for the best technique and how much fun it is. So far zip in gold however I'm haveing a blast learning.
You've done us all a great service and saved me $100! What a comprehensive and fair review. They're really hard to come by on YoutTube these days. Also good info for the manufacture's of the Gold Hog Flow Pan to improve upon their design, if they're so inclined. And it was free of charge, too. Thanks mate. Clear Skies.
Thanks for the review. Hope your subscribers noticed how much effort you put in to be fair and honest in this review. I use Gold Hog sluice and like the mats. But regular pan is always in my plan!
As always another great video thank you Chris. Another thing they tell you about the gold Hog pan is to have it completely submerged under the water before you start to stratify.
Sorry I'm seeing this video so late but just wanted to say I think you did an excellent job reviewing the G.H flow pan. Any one and everyone that is a sceptic needs to remember that results will vary but you seemed to leave an honest and educated evaluation on how it worked for you and what other people may expect. Not only from this video but as you mentioned how you had spent many hours in other locations getting familiar with it. I think the only problem they may have with it is they need a cover at each end of the pan that they can have slide or open out of the way so you can stratify with out loosing the gold. Then open the sides and go to town getting that dirt moved. But thanks for sharing this video. Love your work bud.
Interesting Walkthrough. Good thoughts and trials. I have one and am quite fond of it. As you stated, each tool has a place, and we need to decide where and what fits for each of us and out situations.
Chris , Wonderful and informative video you did a great job explaining up and downs of both reg plans vs gold hog pan . Keep the videos coming and what your doing does make a difference I've learned so much by watching and listing to what you have to say . God Bless ! Kyle
Thanks for all the effort and a really honest review. Typically the old adage "if it looks too good to be true, its probably not true" always holds up.
I own a flow pan, and I can pan more material faster using my super sluice. You can run as much material as you want through the flow pan, but in the end it still has to be panned out.
Greetings Chris, extremely professional review and very well done. This should quieten anyone small minded enough to think you are only promoting these products , when in fact you have worked tirelessly to show all the angles , in's & out's, pro's & con's of all the tool's at your disposal, very well done. Happy panning to you&Grizzly, Stay Cool..
Great review Chris. I wondered how much gold that pan was loosing the first time I seen it on another channel. Even when one runs a longer river sluice they have a catch pan to capture run away gold. I like the regular pans. Love to see the revealing of the gold. I really appreciate all the effort you put into your videos.
Old video glad i caught it, i was going to buy this pan but after watching other videos about it i decided not to get it, and you are right shipping fees to send or receive anything from Australia is expensive, i am from America and i been looking at Gold Rat products from Australia which has a lot of good reviews on there products, but as you said the shipping cost is crazy!
Best used in water temperatures between 58 and 69 degrees, when the moon is full in the month of June. Don't use if one arm is longer than the other or in streams flowing east to west!!! 👍👍 Wow, thanks for the video, love your channel. Tibbs
Very strong scientific comments, the only point you missed is whether your tongue should be extended and how much and if, to which side should you point your tongue
Great video your comment about the seeded gold got me thinking. If the gold hog flow pan is faster then any bound gold has less processing time to seperate than the regular pan and sitting in the catch pan helps the gold release so the test pan at the end is working with twice stratified material and if you were working more carefully with the test pan that would further increase the lost gold captured at the second attempt. The extra refills may be a big time waster however if a 20litre bucket is filled with pay dirt and taken to the waters edge refill time may be negligible and the total time from starting the flow pan to snuffing up the gold at the end can be measured. Then loss test the tailings like you showed. Repeat the test with your regular pan note the time taken and also loss test your tailings. Thirdly using your regular pan repeat the test in the same time as the gold hog test (this may well require a faster more lossy panning) and loss test the tailings. After all what you want is relatively pure gold in the snuffer bottle.
Good review. Thank you. We must appreciate the fact that your experience with the flow pan is, without any fault, based on your environment. Perhaps others from elsewhere may have a different experience. Nonetheless, your story will help me with my story and their story and our story will help with your story.
Nice one Chris! That was a valuable test and review. Product testing at it's finest... It is Winter Solstice today, so I'll see if I can send some rain to help put out the fires over there... Every little bit helps...
Have you tried the original hog pan I have one and it does not lose any thing. Of course it does not break down. Doc has an add on that turns the flow pan into an original and has a deeper bottom, so you can add additional material. Just a thought. Also Doc adds gold to the mix because the material they were working does not contain a large amount of gold in it.
I have seen the test of the other pan and those also lose gold. Just not as much. The thing is every pan loses gold, it's up to you to decide what is acceptable. As for the seeded gold, I explained that it's fine to do that as a demonstration. However it is not an accurate way to test performance and the gold is already liberated and dead center in the pan. Your loss comes from Gold stuck to rocks and clay that you can't liberate.
A great review, thanks for that. I have already purchased the flow pan with cons box, you have confirmed my suspicions. I did notice your not leaving water in your pans before adding dirt. This helps with all pans. The cons box should be more like the hog pan, but they made it without gaps in the sides to let water into the bottom to create stratification from the bottom up. I will be modifying mine to do this. Unfortunately I don’t have access to land to make testing a regular thing.
Excellent. I have watched your vids for long enough to see the sincerity as well as intelligence. Even your vocabulary is good! ha. You just can't wrong your methods as you obviously support prospecting and most importantly, the people that enjoy it and want to learn. Bravo Bro!!!!!! Internet at its very best.
Great video on the Gold Hog flow pan. I am in British Columbia Canada. I have one and found similar results. So made simple modifications. 1. Made the bottom catch box twice as deep. 2. Used a layer of miner moss under a 1/4” punch plate. It is my favorite pan to run volume. I would love to get my hands on a Rotapan (which originates from down under) to test that concept. But very hard to find one. Not even sure if he is even producing anymore?
When they reinvented the wheel they didn't. Just added rubber and air. Maybe gold hog needs to incorporate it's matting in a traditional pan some how? If the matting is that good, but their pan isn't the best. I have a pic in my head what it could look like. The design team will be on to it out there if they want to keep their jobs. Great educational video. Cheers. Carl
Hi Chris love your videos one major problem with that flow pan is those handles I think there should be no holes there at all the handles should be mounted on the outside then 2 things would happen 1 is you would be able to fill the flow pan a lot more and 2 there should not be any gold loss anyway great review great video and thankyou.
Got plenty of gold out of the East Branch in Byron with both the Hog Pan and Flow Pan. Gold loss is a function of how you use the equipment. I have worked tailing piles downstream from $3,000.00 dredges which were supposedly the best made and found enough gold just in those tailing piles to make my day worthwhile.
Good review. I have a Flow pan. They have said it is not that good for fine sands and fine gold I believe. I think you could be faster with it if you shovel your dirt into a bucket first. Then bring the bucket to the creek. Add water to bucket. Stir it up. Then pour it into the Flow Pan to clean your concentrates. You can do a 1/2 5 gal bucket in 5 min. It’s obvious you don’t want to walk back and forth to the creek cuz the Flow Pan is not big enough to hold that much dirt. Also to save your back you need to be standing waist deep in water. Small creeks are not deep enough- so back pain is the same as with any panning.
Chris. Thank you for the informative video. I'm so glad I didn't waste my money on this product. My most favorite pan is pioneer gold blue pan. I'm looking to get the mine lab gold pan and see how well it works. The falcon clean up pan is great. One thing I have learned in the last almost 2 years is that no matter what your going to loose some gold, that's why I use a safety pan as Jesse would say. My good friend Jesse Peterson from Vic's gold panning and mine tours here in Blackhawk Colorado he has taught me so much about gold. Some of his gold he has shown me looks like dust. I have prospected on his property and found the same dust gold with docs gold hog mats. Thank you again, Chris. AKA Colorado Gold.
I'd really like to see how the hog pan conversion kit for the flow pan is....it seemed to me like a better "trap" idea without the gapping holes in the pan sides.
Outstanding video, I was looking for exactly this video as I saw the pan on their website. I wanted the review to be good, but I will stick with my standard pans for now. Love your channel from central U.S.
Excellent video, well presented. Have you, or do you intend to test the Turbo Pan?, as I'm told it too is supposed to be quick. Having just bought one, I'm keen to try it out. I Iive in the Tenterfield, area, and was wondering if any of the nearby creeks carry Gold?.
I’ve used the hog pan before but not the flow pan. I’ll stick to my round pan and gold claw. I love my gold hog high banker though. Thanks for another awesome video 🍀🍺🎄
Great review, this is what the doc likes. and we like.Ts recovery is great with classified material.Cannot beat the gold hog sluice mat in my opionion.Good job.Luck Mcbain.
Thanks for taking the time to use this product and let us know your thoughts. Similar results to panning with chicken wire I see. Can’t really beat a traditional pan. The bit at the end of your video was....... let’s say, you could have used MR G’s teeth instead 🤔.
Thanks for making this video. I came to a similar conclusion as you. I bought this pan with the idea that I could pan a lot more dirt, but came upon the same results. I can pan just as fast with a regular pan, but I don’t feel I lose as much. I now have the con box addition to this pan and will be doing similar tests with it. I think it may be a better version than the flow pan just due to the amount of dirt it can hold & has less ways to lose gold. I would love to see a video on your thoughts about the con box (though I understand getting one to Australia will be hard and it may be some time before that happens). Thanks for all your videos. You’ve taken my prospecting knowledge to the next level and increased my efficiency and yields 10 fold.
Just one question if the holes in the side were smaller and higher up would it be better? Thanks for all the great videos you give us for our education and entertainment.
This issue I have is that it's not a completely new concept. There are similar designs back as far as the 16th century. Sluice/pan hybrids that can work in both still and moving water. I've got one drawn up to build, well a modern take on it anyway.
Hiya Chris, hope you and your family and friends are all safe and keeping as cool as possible. Fingers crossed that this heatwave and wild fires quit soon. P.s you're videos are very informative and I enjoy watching you find "candy" as Pauly puts it.
Went out today and found about 15 specs just scratching around, first outing too! I call that a success. Still such a rookie at panning. Feels so unnatural right now hahah
Read through all of the comments and I saw one that brings up the same point I want to make. But, first and foremost, the Flow Pan is a specialty, no classification needed production pan. It is not meant to be anything else. In order for me to call this a totally professional video I would have counted all of the specs from the total recovered from the 6 Flow Pans and found the loss percentage using that amount, not the amount from a random test pan. I could believe your results if that was the case and would have no problem with it. I have used a Flow Pan hundreds times and with a catch tub also and my loss results were in the 5% to 8% range. I have some clay to deal with also and it takes a little more time to massage those clay balls. Also a little less vigorous action and pan angle is necessary in low flow situations or still water or you will lose more gold. I often use my Flow Pan at high altitudes and very limited water with slow or no flow where carrying a tub, buckets, a large pan, two classifying pans, finishing pan, shovel, etc is just too much gear for hiking. I can take the flow pan, an 8" finishing pan, sniffer bottle, an XP ORX detector, pinpointer, scoop and food/water in my backpack, hook on a small tub or bucket, carry my shovel and I'm good to go for a 1 to 2 mile hike up to 10,000ft. I also use it for normal river and creek prospecting along with my high banker as a back up in case I have an equipment problem or really low water. I can process a 5 gallon bucket of unclassified material in about 3 minutes with the Flow Pan. There is no way I can classify a 5 gallon bucket full of unclassified dirt in the same amount of time especially since I would have to classify it down twice to get to the level of classification that the Flow Pan achieves with no classification. Your example of large pan capacity panning without classifying compared to the Flow Pan capacity is a very valid point if you are going directly from the dirt source to the pan without filling a bucket. Thanks for your hard work on this review. Jeff
Even if filling from a bucket it makes no difference. The pan handles three times as much dirt so even if it takes twice as long it's still running more material in less time and that's not even taking into account the loss rate. Simple fact is all major prospecting/mining companies make both good and bad equipment. I've got a collection of various quick pan systems yet l keep going back to the basic Minelab pro pan. Some systems work really well on certain types of material (like sand) but generally a pan outdoes all of them if you know how to use it. That said some of the others are good in some cases, but lm yet to see a case where the flow pan system even comes close.
Mate, you're just ass-hurt you wasted your money and trying to defend it for some reason to strangers on TH-cam by discrediting the video in your FIRST sentence by implying it's not professional. Take your bullshit else where fuckstick.
Speed is one thing, but I like standing and straightening the back. My Lowe back aches after a few pans. Not sure I want to do a extra pan every 4 pans
they could bring the hole up to the top by reinforcing the bar around that area and then make the bottom of the hole about an inch shorter significantly increasing the bucket size... thereby increasing the capture rate and speed / volume capabilities of the pan.
Thank you Chris😁👍I have asked so many other prospectors/TH-camrs to do a test over a tub to show the loss and your the first to give an honest answer!! Griz is looking good😁✌
Love the video, I just came across this after I just purchased one of these pans, I don't live in an area that has alot of gold, I am sure there is some hiding somewhere around me, There is alot of mica and small pebbles and crystals in the streams around me. also lots of black sand. I will give it a shot with this thing along with my garrett gold pans I already own. I might try using a different matting as well to see the difference in separation if any.
So two years ago I watched the review, on the test of that pan. That gold hog was making In Virginia and gold hog is more of a picker and nugget company. And, you go after micro gold or flour gold and picker. they designed it as a test pan. For Pickers and Nuggets. But! As a hobbyist myself, from Minnesota, USA great review! I was always curious about that myself.
Size of the gold is irrelevant when you have big holes in your pan. Dan Hurd just did his review on this and got similar results, hes not on small gold either. Its a shame because i wanted it to work too.
Hello Chris, with my sieve You carry only sifted paydirt , the rest of it stays where You dig, no loss, liberated gold in the bucket waiting for pan off.I have only 3 left out of 18.Have a nice Christmas and prosperous New Year 2020, regards George ( You are lucky, no water left around here)
Hay Chris liked the video enjoy your take on the flow pan but it would be a good tool for prospecting new ground to find if there is gold or not, but to collect gold and to reduce losses you could use the CON BOX setup to move more dirt or add the sides of the con box to reduce losses. Hope you have a great holiday season
I'm guessing you just had that little white tub with you that day, but if you want the best buckets and tubs then check out the cementing section at Bunnings. They have builders tubs and builders buckets that are way cheaper than what you would pay for similar items in other parts of the store, but they are way better built and made from recycled plastic. They don't break down in the sun and you can treat them like crap both because they are cheap and because they can take it. I've been using them for a couple of years now and they are just so much better than regular plastic containers.
Thank you for a fair and informative video. I will just stick with my Garrett Super Sluice gold pan that has served me very well. I think they were trying to "reinvent the wheel" by adding some corners to it. I was thinking about buying the Flow Pan. I'm glad I didn't.
Thanks After a lot of consideration and watching a lot of videos about the gold pan i was ready to buy 1 , but after your video i realized that you were right Its not magic Just a small sluice Thanks again
How to move more dirt with your pan. Clean the fast 80% fill and clean the fast 80% and repeat. I normally only chek all 3 pans. I have tested if it losses gold. Where i life you find litle gold. I had 1 speck 20 pans later i still had the same speck. I would say if you go hard on the paning you have a 50% time saving. You can increase that even more if you dont check all 3 pans. No im not doing that since a very long time but thats my experience.
Hmmm...Maby it would be better if the big holes could be covered in the stratification mode so the gold can settle to the mat. When that's done you would be able to open the holes and let the dirt out and "fine pan" what's left... But then it might not be "effective"??
Apologies for not reading all replies but I'm too lazy. What a cool idea! What about sliding in varied height guards to give a fuller mix more time to agitate? I know. I'm a genius. Plus I want to see transparent matting to look at the gold from underneath. I'm going to make one from perspex. Thanks Chris for the great review and we miss Grizzly...
Thanks for the review! I watched Gold Hogs videos when they developed this pan. I can not fault them for innovation, but I am just too suspicious of the holes at each end. I like the feel of a round pan in my hand. That's my story and I am sticking to it. Merry Christmas!
Thank you for telling the truth. So refreshing. Your better off taking the money you would spend on that thing and just buy gold. Don't forget you need two pans to work that one.
I feel like a simple design change on the handles would probably drop the loss rate but also make it more like a normal pan with a slightly better clean time. Make them close and have a second set above the pan so you can grab the second set and lock the pan for initial stratification and breakup before going for the fast cleanup. With the handles open like they are it's like having a super low rim pan.
They made that version of this pan before this and it still loses the same gold. The problem is that in that version you still have to use it like a pan, most people can't work with riffles, so the smooth edges kick out the gold.
@@VoGusProspecting makes sense. Guess in the end it's more about the wow factor and less about gold retention with alot of these new items. I do like the idea of a sluice box in a pan though if it was actually worked through completely and perfected but there's no way to go about fabricating a design that's gonna work better than the original tried and tested pan style and not lose something along the way.
Thanks so much for making this video, as I have been considering buying a flow pan. Sluicing in rivers is not allowed in Ontario, Canada, which came as a disappointment to me when I learned the regulation.
The big thing about the Flow Pan and earlier Hog Pan by Gold Hog is they are not for getting down to the gold. They are basically concentrators. I have both and that is how I use them. Once I have sampled with a regular pan and find a good area, I work the area exclusively with the Flow Pan or Hog Pan for the rest of the day without doing any more finishing until I get home. The concentrates from Flow Pan or Hog Pan go directly into a bucket. I can tell you that a 5 gallon bucket of concentrates half full is about all one man will want to carry with one hand. For the last few months, all my final panning is done with the Gold Claw and Gold Claw Pocket Model.
Like Oz, UK customs sting us to import. So, I took the measurements from their website, made my own flow pan (a thinner gauge of Ali too) but had to get the matting sent over. It sits in the shed now, the supersluice and gravity trap are my favoured. Brill review, could hear Steve chuntering in the background & Merry Christmas to you all!!! 🍻👍
Just a thought. If the mat in the Hog went up say 3cm above the bottom edge of the handles would this catch the lost gold? not sure how to achieve this as I have only seen it on your vid. Maybe attach two extra pieces to the bottom edge where the screw is.
Vo-Gus What was the percentage of gold lost to what the Flow Pan Caught? To me seeing your video it seems like less than 12.5%. Thx for your time and effort in what I think is a great video.
Sorry I rewatched it and misunderstood where you got the speck count . The way you were saying pan I was under the impression you were comparing an avg. from a regular pan to the Flow Pan LOL My bad and again Very nice video. May there always be color in your pans :)
Seeded Gold demos are like Snake Oil Salesman...already liberated gold definate changes outcomes...haha glad you talked about that.... :) it needs a slider flap to cover slot holes to wash more dirt, then slide open to put it in sluice mode!
Dan Hurd did a review. This pan is for quick assessment of how much gold is on your claim or to check creeks. It works good for that kind of prospecting.
One thing I immediately see that would improve the performance would be to make the base curved downward. so there is a pan within the sluice that naturally holds the dirt while you classify it. (just an engineering point of view)

@Ryan Ripley So you get 5 to 1 useful input and you think that is not worth it?
His comment is not total bs. I hate channels that close the comments. Comments is 50 % of why I like youtube.
Great video mate , since seeing these I always cringed at the inevitable back pain it must cause. That was always my #1 concern.
KleshGuitars I’ve used the Flow-pan and it’s really rough on my back. Good comment

I'm not surprised at your results, I wondered how they prevented loss when I first saw the holes at both ends. Good job.
I love honest reviews, so many just repeat selling points of the manufacture.
It's not hard to tell the truth, people just want to live in the fantasy.
Hey Great Vid !!!! You mentioned something in this video that makes so much good sense I hope most people picked up on !!! Seeded gold vs unprocessed gold !!! There is a huge difference !!! Thanks again for a great video !!!!
thank you
I purchased a very large number of gold pans to see which ones I would like best... also to see if their was a pan and process that could rival or keep up with a small sluice box on fine and ultra-fine gold.
I luv the honesty in this vid,,,people like you i luv to listen too, because your geniune,,you have no reason or gain too makeup anything thats not real ,,,thankyou my friend as we appreciate it,,,rob down under
I hate bias reviews so I'm not going to create any myself.
Chris; what a well put together video! HONEST, thankyou! I figured there was some loss issues with the Flow Pan and you proved them.
We all appreciate the effort you put in to test this well, knowing that not everyone likes the truth. You did a top job!
Top stuff.
Cheers mate, Merry Christmas!
Honest review Chris, Sometimes you have to wonder when a company sends you something to review that they’re expecting a biased review but you kept it real
Like I said in the video, I wanted to like it but ethically I can't.
It is however fun to use! And that could be a door in for a newbie
Chris, my hat is off to you. That was an outstanding honest review. Exactly what I would expect and nothing less.
Regular pan is the way to go
See that's exactly the thinking that needs to be employed
Yep modify that pan exactly what I thought ,any ol Aussie could fab them up n no shipping
Put a Vogus sticker on it
Iv tried ordering docs matting what a pain in the arse, plus the biggest sluices in alaska run the simple methods n make money
Like a roll-up door on a fire truck except the door/gate would slide down, but even with that fix I would rather have a Pyramid Pro Pan.

I own a flow pan it's very heavy and cumbersome. My super sluice is a way better choice.
Thanks for the honest review. Video production was superb!
Cheers mate, Merry Christmas!
I try to bring a level of integrity to the show, its important to me.
Interesting Walkthrough. Good thoughts and trials. I have one and am quite fond of it. As you stated, each tool has a place, and we need to decide where and what fits for each of us and out situations.
Chris ,
Wonderful and informative video you did a great job explaining up and downs of both reg plans vs gold hog pan .
Keep the videos coming and what your doing does make a difference I've learned so much by watching and listing to what you have to say .
God Bless !

Thanks for all the effort and a really honest review. Typically the old adage "if it looks too good to be true, its probably not true" always holds up.
This was an awesome "fan-tab-ulous" video sir. Very well made along with spoken !! Thank you
I own a flow pan, and I can pan more material faster using my super sluice.

Excellent review, as an amateur prospector I'm relying on info to be as honest as possible, Thanks guys Merry Christmas...
The best product review I've seen on line. Great job.
Cheers buddy
Great review Chris. I wondered how much gold that pan was loosing the first time I seen it on another channel. Even when one runs a longer river sluice they have a catch pan to capture run away gold. I like the regular pans. Love to see the revealing of the gold. I really appreciate all the effort you put into your videos.
Maybe making the bottom cut of the side holes higher would be good to increase the capacity and or lower losses on smaller loads.
Good honest feed back for the community.... Thank you...Stay safe....
Tibbs

Great review have heard Roto pan and its any good .
Your review videos are by far the most superior that I've seen.. Thanks, wondered about this doo-dad for a while.
Cheers bro, i wanted to make it honest and let the results speak for themselves
A great review, thanks for that.
I have already purchased the flow pan with cons box, you have confirmed my suspicions.
I did notice your not leaving water in your pans before adding dirt. This helps with all pans.
The cons box should be more like the hog pan, but they made it without gaps in the sides to let water into the bottom to create stratification from the bottom up. I will be modifying mine to do this.
Unfortunately I don’t have access to land to make testing a regular thing.
I do leave water in almost all my pans, you just dont see it on film because i dont focus on it,
I know words lol thanks mate.
Very cool! I dont think they are
When they reinvented the wheel they didn't.
Where I am in Maine, USA, I can not afford to miss a flake. Thank you for sharing. More important....thank you for your time.
The bucket would slow you down even more. By the time you add in the extra energy in lugging it around too it would be very tiring.
GREAT video Chris. Thanks for all your TIME.
Thank you again,
Chris.
Hi Chris, Have a merry Christmas and New Year to all your Family, thanks for all the shows in 2019, Cheers, Neil.
Possibly. Would have to experiment.
thanks for all the hard work behind the scenes and an honest review. much respect!
Cheers mate, Merry Christmas!
Went out today and found about 15 specs just scratching around, first outing too! I call that a success. Still such a rookie at panning. Feels so unnatural right now hahah
Merry Christmas!
And at the end. U still gotta pan after the flow scam pan.
To reduce number of trips to the bank for dirt, you could bring a bucket of dirt out with you, depending on how shallow your stream is.
Chris, educational and honest review. Best regards and thank you for sharing.
Thank you for a fair and informative video. I will just stick with my Garrett Super Sluice gold pan that has served me very well. I think they were trying to "reinvent the wheel" by adding some corners to it. I was thinking about buying the Flow Pan. I'm glad I didn't.
Thanks
After a lot of consideration and watching a lot of videos about the gold pan i was ready to buy 1 , but after your video i realized that you were right
Its not magic
Just a small sluice
Thanks again
Glad I could help
How to move more dirt with your pan.
Clean the fast 80% fill and clean the fast 80% and repeat. I normally only chek all 3 pans.
I have tested if it losses gold. Where i life you find litle gold. I had 1 speck 20 pans later i still had the same speck.
I would say if you go hard on the paning you have a 50% time saving. You can increase that even more if you dont check all 3 pans.
No im not doing that since a very long time but thats my experience.
You should be commended for your honest reviews, Chris! Thanks so much for telling it like it is. I have had about the same results with my flow pan.
Thanks for the detailed test of this. I was wondering how it would perform with the huge holes in the sides.
Hmmm...Maby it would be better if the big holes could be covered in the stratification mode so the gold can settle to the mat. When that's done you would be able to open the holes and let the dirt out and "fine pan" what's left... But then it might not be "effective"??
Good review Chris! I will stick to my dredge, highbanker and my bazooka sluice!
You are so welcome!
The dog in the background is loving life!
Thank you for spending the time for this video. I enjoyed it.
Excellent review Chris hopefully gold hog will watch and see the positives of Ur review after all u are the target audience for the pan
Thanks so much for making this video, as I have been considering buying a flow pan. Sluicing in rivers is not allowed in Ontario, Canada, which came as a disappointment to me when I learned the regulation.
Another great video. I hope you and your fam are well. Pet all the pups for me. Thanks again Chris.
Regular pan is still faster and more accurate. Wait until i do my speed panning video.
Love your videos. Keep them coming. Very very informative.
Cheers mate, Merry Christmas!
Just a thought. If the mat in the Hog went up say 3cm above the bottom edge of the handles would this catch the lost gold? not sure how to achieve this as I have only seen it on your vid.
Maybe attach two extra pieces to the bottom edge where the screw is.
Not really man, the problem isnt the matting its just hose holes. It wont work until they close them
Vo-Gus What was the percentage of gold lost to what the Flow Pan Caught? To me seeing your video it seems like less than 12.5%. Thx for your time and effort in what I think is a great video.
I explained it on film it's 12.5%.
This test was replicated many times, at best it lost 5% at worst it was a little above 15%.
Who gives this a thumbs down!!
Great vid and review Chris keep up the good work
Great job , keep them nuggets coming
Dan Hurd did a review. This pan is for quick assessment of how much gold is on your claim or to check creeks. It works good for that kind of prospecting.
No it doesn't. Dan was just trying to be nice
One thing I immediately see that would improve the performance would be to make the base curved downward. so there is a pan within the sluice that naturally holds the dirt while you classify it. (just an engineering point of view)
