At my age of 69 I've been prospecting for some 40 years. I've got many different types of rifle, in a side-by-side comparison. a 10x36" sluice, side by side with Dream Mat sluice, concentrates from the Dream Mat were cleaner. One day I will have my own dream mat for my 10x36" sluice and won't use a friends Dream Mat sluice. "Dream Mat really is one of the best new products out there" that's just my opinion and I'm sticking to it.

I'm new to prospecting but I love your products. I started cheap with the adventure sluice which works great for such a small investment. Truly a boon to us beginners who don't want to break the bank before we know how much we like something. Then due to my inability to get to rivers easily I got your clean up buddy for home use. Both are just magnuts for heavy material and though I haven't found any great locations just yet they have been tested on paydirt bags many times. I did this to get more exersise, breath more fresh air, etc... and all that is good, but I've found I really like prospecting. I'm building my own mid sized stream sluice not due to money but for the challenge of it and it's turning out great. I will likely buy a full sized sluice at some point since I'm addicted and all, but for now I'm investing in fun and even some gold.

I love my dream I call bs on losing gold starting n stopping, for example plenty of times I restarted my 6x24 and see a couple flakes I missed in the top. I've honestly never seen gold past the 4th or 5th cell everytime I've used it

Not a serious test, only demonstrates the superior ability to capture BBs from water. Hoping to see a real test in real world conditions one day that proves dream mat is superior.

And my second thought is that when you use the Hungarian riffle sluice that whole portion of the video was misleading because those bb's were flowing over top of each other, it was quite obvious that the Hungarian rifle and the screen was catching very well except for when those BBS are flowing over top of each other. again I want to reiterate that "Dream Mat is an absolutely brilliant design" I just do not agree with using BB's as an example to the characteristics of Placer gold

"Dream Mat is a great product design no doubt about it". Using round BB's as an example of what gold would do is absolutely a bust. I've never seen a flake of gold shaped like a round BB which allows water to flow over it with almost zero resistance. I think if those bb's were somewhat flattened to some degree as gold is when it's plaser, would change what we see happening in this video result dramatically but would still prove the great design of the Dream Mat.

I've been testing this in the stream.
Classified unclassified I'm using the combo mat 8-in.
    Flow rates angles depth.
    Played with it all.
It will catch the tiniest piece of gold. It will also toss out tiny pieces of gold. Depending on the material you're running.
I'm in an area where there's a lot of garnet and pyrite.
It builds up in the cells and they lock out.
And once a cell or any part of it is full even though it contains no gold it doesn't catch gold anymore.
Don't get me wrong I'll still use it it's part of my collection.
But I believe it should be used for cleanups.

I understand that this is just a visual demonstration because it doesn't factor in a lot of things. It's fun to test mats with different items such as bbs, lead and tungsten. I've done the same thing in some of my videos. We learn from it regardless. Some people are just over critical and defensive of everything they come across.
That being said, why isn't the angle and water flow factored in? Not every mat or system is designed to run at the same flow and angle as the dream mat. Couldn't each system be adjusted to mitigate migration of whatever material you choose to test it with?
I was heavily criticized by the DM crowd for showing large flat lead migrating through a dream mat in one of my videos. I even explained how that test didn't mean that the dream mat failed. I tried to make it capture something it wasn't designed to capture. Just like the hungarian wasn't designed to catch a bottle full of bbs at that angle and water flow? If you decreased the angle, at some point those bbs won't migrate out.
I'm not trying to prove or disprove anything. It would be nice to see these other systems at different angles and flows if the goal is to prove they don't work. I mean that's the biggest argument I see most of the time.

  • @GoldChump

Cute test, good thing we are NOT prospecting for copper coated steel bb's it looks like. The only problem with the test is in the wild a Keene sluice is designed to release material with a specific gravity around 12-13 or less. It is supposed to discharge this lighter material and keep the gold at the same time - that in fact is the most important variable...

SO, to me in this controlled setting you proved Keene is better at that even with a minimal flow. In any real production setting with material classified to 1/2" or 1/4" this mat just could not keep up with a "traditional" sluice like the Keene Super Sluice, the A52, A51, or A51a. In the dream mat the gold will either get bounced out by the bigger material and/or the heavy sands will fill up the chambers and gold will be lost.
May be this test could be done. Instead of dropping BB’s in the systems you drop a ton of heavy black sand. Then run ¼ oz of gold mixed in more heavy black sand through each and see what happens. Also, instead of giving The Dream Mat the advantage of using a low flow let’s go with a very high flow to benefit the Keene. I’d venture to guess The Dream Mat would lose 20-25% of the gold under those circumstances. I have always run my Keene sluice boxes with 1/3 Keene carpet, but replaced the bottom 2/3rds with miners moss.
For cleaning up fine gold The Dream Mat is very good no doubt. I'd even go as far it is the "go to" mat for cleanup.

    • @50Quid-d3x
      @50Quid-d3x 15 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

@@GoldChump A first big mistake is trying to catch the gold and let the black sand run back into the stream... a second big mistake is not using magnets to catch the black sand... and the 3rd big mistake weekenders make is looking for gold without a microscope, without having a magnet on a stick and or trying to find gold by only looking for gold..
I do look for gold and while I'm looking for gold... I am also looking for black sand, fire formed rocks, volcanics and quartz sand. I need a good reason for gold to be where I find it if possible. ( stratbound trap, alluvial fan, a surface truncation, shear zone, ect).
Road cuts, abandond gravel pits, canyons, river and creek channel cuts all give up clues as to where the gold might be.
Gold moves down until it traps once released from its origional host strata... I look for sand and gravel and a shale or clay base below the gravel. If the gravel is 50 or 60 feet thick with a shale base... the gold will be in the bottom 3 feet, not in the top 3 feet and it will take a drilling rig to find it.
If your in gold country and you want to find gold... just ask a waterwell driller where to start looking for gold.

I really like my dream mats.have them all except for the micro mat version 2 and the thermoform sluice. I saw a piece of gold move up the mat to the next cell. I do run a custom indicator mat b4 the dream mat only because the dream mat hides the gold in the cells where it can be hard to see when running. Would be cool to see an angus mackirk foreman 2 sluice tested against 2 or 3 of the thermoform sluices. I have one if you want to borrow it for a test. Im sure the dream mat will perform better overall, I just have not seen anyone compare the 2 yet.
