Clearly you have little or no hope for rehabilitation of children. You ever hear of a little girl, maybe 6-8 years old, who wanted to murder her brother and adoptive parents? She attempted it multiple times but fortunately never got the chance to kill her loved ones. Well, she's a full grown adult out and about the world. You know why? Because directly after this happened she was put into custody of a kind of rehabilitation camp. She fully recovered and has never resumed her previous behavior. I'm sorry you have such a bleak outlook on children's lives. But these are human beings just like me. There was a time when I wanted to hurt/kill all of my school bullies. I wanted to do to them what they had done to me. You know what happened? I was rehabilitated and given medication that saved me from my suicidal tendencies among other tendencies. Had I gone through with it, would I be in a different situation? Probably not. I really, really hope you change your outlook on this type of situation....or at least educate yourself on this type of subject.

@@kurtkatzemcqueennovaaetate6873 it's not really that simple, or children would do these things at massively higher rates. This behavior is still extremely rare, the kids who do it have their own internal inclinations that are often made worse by life experiences.
Just exposing children to dramatized slaughter would mean every kid who read Lord of the Rings with it's huge medieval battles would be a latent serial killer, and that obviously isn't the case. Just saying 'it's bad' is obviously too simple to be accurate.

Your thing about a new ID brings up another question. If a chid commits murder, should they get long sentences? Here in the states it has always depended on how the state tends to lean politically. Liberal leaning states tend to think that everybody has some redeeming quality and so they tend to want shorter sentences and alot of social programs to help them when they are released. Conservative leaning states tend to take a more tough on crime stance and believe more in punishment to protect society, and its a difficult thing to deal with

    • @Timmycoo
      @Timmycoo 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Very polarizing subject and yeah it really is based on the way the state's swing. Kabir is right about the cycle of abuse begets further abuse. It's sad that in a lot of cases I've read about, the kids are so numb to what has been done to them that it takes away their sense of right and wrong and empathy towards a victim. I'm just hopeful there is some sort of rehabilitation program that can bring those people back into society.

I read a case about a mother who forced her kids to torture this girl for months to where the girl no longer felt pain and the kids did it as sort of a numbingly action "mom told me to". Only once the girl died did they start to freak out. And the mom tried to pin it on one of her daughters.. sadistic.

Some liberal states have very lousy programs, some conservative states have great programs.
I’m a strong believer in good programs.
I myself went through a very intensive one - mandatory, for 6 1/2 years - this was after I did 12 years inside.
I’ve been out for 16 years.
I own a small [ moderately] successful business, bought a home- paid off Mortgage,
And have a small ministry as well.
Hobbies, collecting radios 1915-2022, and old movies.
      I beat all my addictions…..
I have no one from my past, except a cousin who , for my mom’s sake [ he was very close to her], has helped me out, to get started.
I burned all bridges to all my friends, etc. I’m living in Florida now
      It CAN be done
The new identity for kids, maybe not all, but otherwise they are marked for life, no matter where they go, they would have no chance - someone somewhere would find out.
The US is a little different. Plenty big to get away to start new, but then, the reason I started my own business, is that very few jobs would be open, and even fewer that I can physically handle. At 61, I can’t dig ditches like I could In my 20’s.

For part of her sentence, Bell was held in an approved school where she was abused by a member of staff and some other inmates. On her release, she led a quiet life without committing any more crimes but she and her daughter had to flee from place to place after the media came after her and her new identity. She has said that the abuse she endured does not excuse her crimes. Her accomplice, Norma Bell (no relation) was acquitted on all charges as she was seen as being intellectually impaired and submissive.

With the exception of sexually base crimes and crimes against children, forcing or requiring somebody to tell others they are a criminal after they've been released from prison, after parole had been finished and restitution has been settled, would be like making the convict serve a double sentence. The prison sentence, restitution/fines and parole/probation as sentence 1; and the burden of reintegration, working, dating, etc and still dealing with the stigma they did create but having to re live their crime everytime they have to tell someone. Or defend themselves against somebody who might wish to hurt them, because they are uncomfortable with criminals enough to become a criminal. Sometimes no matter how hard they want to move on and become productive members of society, society might not want them to. That's why I can understand children getting out and eventually changing their name.

I hate the dude name dropping Alice Cooper as if he’s a model of a murderer or icon of killing. He’s a metal musician. Moreso, most of his shit is pretty soft for metal. That’s like claiming rap is the reason for gang violence. Its internal. Ever stop and go out of your way to help someone, then feel real good after? That’s part of the human experience. Ever get cut off by an asshole and hope they get run off the road and into a ditch? Yep. That’s human nature. Even deeper, we can kill. We know we can. And we’re vain enough to think we can and should get away with it. People kill because internally, they’ve justified it and think they’re doing something worthwhile.
I solemnly believe we can and should try to rehabilitate those in prisons who do bad. I believe we should rehabilitate those who’ve become victim to addiction.
I do not believe we should try to heal a cold blooded killer.
Kill someone who was trying to kill you? Great, happy you survived, here’s counseling and access to help any time you start feeling bad or weird.
But waltzing into a school and shooting kids? Malls? Parks? Just killing to kill? They should get inhumane punishment for inhumane actions. Full stop, once the court decides it was murder for the sake of murder, put them in a cell, and leave. Let them starve. Put a camera in the cell, let the world watch. Make death uncomfortable. Make it miserable and show people how much it’s going to suck to serve that punishment.

Besides it'll set off the principle of "If you can't serve the time don't do the crime." It'll just create more kids later on to be more entitled.

I agree. I didn't like how they kept implying those things had a hand in the murder. May as well blame cookies because the one kid asked for it.

The saddest was the kid who was obviously schizophrenic and the one who was forced to be a prostitute. Tragic in both cases.
I do wonder how they can say they are safe in society. The schizophrenic might be reacting well to medicine though who knows? The one who was prostituted out... man. Even without killing, that's going to mess you up.

No, this idea that "I saw it on tv/in a movie" is bullshit. You might take what you see and try to use it but YOU did the actions. There have been killings of all kinds in moves/tv thru the century+ of movies. How many deaths have we seen in our lifetime in movies, tv shows, news, in books via words or pictures. If those things were to blame, there would be no movies or tv or books cause everyone would be doing it. So no, I don't buy that crap, sell it to someone else.

So why wasn’t the 11 year old offender given therapy and help? He said he did it because he’d been hurt too. If that’s true, then there’s an adult out there who is hurting children while they’re focusing on punishing the literal child who, although it was wrong and disgusting, was clearly doing it because he was hurting and alone.
Edit to add: There is zero evidence to show that movies, books, music, video games, etc cause violent tendencies in people.

There was this other pretty young guy who got just inappropriately forceful with my little sister. I saw it and it wasn’t rape or anything, but he told me to calm down when I ran up. I could tell he was just off with her.
I was maybe 15 or 14 or something. That’s my little sister, I’m not sure what’s happening here, but big brother mode clicked to whatever the distance to Pluto is. She’s clearly not enjoying this, so how about I make your face uncomfortable. I was furious, the same sister had to calm me down as I huffed away.
