    Just saw your latest video. I wish I had looked a little more carefully and seen all the other vids. Oops! Anyway, quite impressive. I congratulate your choice of using composite materials in the hull and other locations. They will add considerable stiffness and strength while reducing weight weight. I worked for Olympic Boats for several years and I'm glad to see this great boat being restored! I was the last person to touch that boat before it left the factory. Among my duties was to clean and buff all boats that rolled out. I also did repairs on boats brought in for repairs. Boy did we get some nasty stuff! Anyway, I wanted to say that you are doing a very professional job. I should know, I built boats for 18 years.

      Thanks! Only wood is the cabin now 👍 I would really like to know the construction side of Olympic boats to gain more knowledge and history if you can share. Feel free to message me on Facebook or Instagram if you have those! Thanks

    This is great. I have watched so many videos on filling small holes. But can't find one about a large hole, I have window to fill and this really helps. Is there a follow up about the gelcoat?

    I know it's a safety sam thing but get a good pair of safety goggles especially sanding glass you do not want that stuff in your eyes mate. I enjoy your videos mate keep up the great work.

      That’s why I invested in a respirator and face shield to help 👍

      @@LindellAdventures great to hear mate I'm not telling you what you should do but you only get one set of eyes. All the best with the project mate great to see you having a go at this it's not something I would do. Maybe I'd fix a little boat but this would be way beyond my skills.

    That sign is aluminum not stainless steel. If you go ahead and gelcoat it before sanding let it dry then sand the gelcoat you won’t have to sand all the weave lines out because the gelcoat will fill it in. Andy at boat works today does it for that reason.hope this helps

    • @LindellAdventures
      @LindellAdventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, i still need to fair it. That’s why I didn’t use gelcoat. I put “aluminum*” in the video if you watch that part again haha. But yes, Andy is a great teacher and have learned lots from him. Thanks for the tips 👍

    I was the bent had at least one, if not two, vent hoses attached. Ventilation to remove explosive gases (gasoline vapors) is required on gas powered boats.
    That said, I'm curious as to why you removed the vent?

    • @LindellAdventures
      @LindellAdventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      On most setups yes, it was an inboard and no longer a trapped area. I will have venting in a different location and less prone to water entering.

      Hes putting a new 300hp outboard so venting would be useless

    Love you project, what resin do you use? Looking for bulk poly based resin to do some mods on my Aquasport 246 Express Fisherman

    • @LindellAdventures
      @LindellAdventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I get my resin from Fiberglass Supply. They have a website and based out of Washington. They ship everything. I will get the exact resin I use and send that to you 👍

    You also may want to consider relocating the 2 holes located just below the vent cutout. I’ve got a 1986 restored 26XL with the 5.7. These boats sit very low in the water. On rough days or parked on an exposed dock the boat takes on a surprising amount of water thru these even though they are tied to bilge pumps on my boat. This is my next project this summer to relocate them.
    Doing a great job!

      I’d love to see your setup! It’s hard to find our boats these days. I will be relocating them as well once I get a few other tasks done 👍 how does your boat do with sway when people walk in the boat?

    I don´t know your Olympic boat at all, but I have followed th-cam.com/users/Micington and his restoration of a 25ft Bertram. He had a similar experience to you, where he ultimately stripped the the boat out and build it up from scratch. His boat had a weak structure in the Gunwale, just like you describe, and he reinforced it with coosa board from underneath I believe. If your gunwale is flexing when you step on it you might want to consider reinforcing it as well..

    • @LindellAdventures
      @LindellAdventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The hull will have coring (Divinycell) and the gunwale will also be reinforced with Coosa up to the cabin doors 👍 making it stronger for the long haul.

    Maybe consider narrating over the top of your 'working' scenes a little. I find the standing and talking to the camera with nothing happening a little boring.
    Men just wanna see men work.

      Me too. I’m still not a fan of talking to the camera. I will be investing in some equipment soon and hopefully get better at videos haha.

    You’re a little trick there with the no trespassing signs pretty cool I also want to mention that nothing sticks to wax paper and or 6 ml plastic
