Techno No-No

- Just for fun… And funny thing, I really am a Professional Techno Nerd, but I made a stupid mistake when I recorded late last night - I was thinking MFA (multi-factor authentication) but MFN (Most Favored Nation) came out and worked. Oh well, I made a techno no-no again…
So, besides my voice, this was recorded with a Poly D (clone of a 70s synth), VC340 (clone of a 70s synth), Synclavier Regen (based on original software of an early 80s synth) and the Prophet Rev 2 (distantly related to the Prophet 5 of the late 70s). So I guess it does have the early 80s techno-pop pedigree.
Oh, and for synth nerds, another techno no-no: I played every note by hand. There are no drum machines, sequencers, arpeggiators, or even LFOs to make repeating notes. If you listen you can hear some mistakes, which I think makes it funnier, but…
Extra points if you get all of the song references in the "vocoder section"… (Hint - the first one is a mash up of two Gary Numan songs).
Hope you enjoy!
Love this, Trent! It's a lot of fun. I heard it on your blog, and forgot to comment on it. Here is just as good! Your voice is working well with this music. Definitely lots of fun!
Hi Resa, sorry, I thought I replied! I did have a lot of fun with this one. Thanks :)
I LOVE this!
Thanks, Annette!
Very cool, Trent. I enjoyed the various loops. You did a Peter Frampton with your keyboards. Despite your plea for help with techno you do ok with what you do know.
Thanks! The "talking synth" is using a vocoder, which I love even if it isn't quite as expressive as the talk box the Peter Frampton used. Al of this in good fun :)
I definitely had fun listening. 😊
People are people. Instead of friends are electric? Some of the vocoder phrases I get like blinded by science.
Yes, Gary Numan reference is a mash up of "Are Friends Electric" and "Cars" (the vocal line is "In cars"). Duran Duran "Girls on Film" becomes "Girls on Instagram", All I get is "Radio Gaga" is Tik-Tok gaga... etc. lol, I know they don't all work, but it was fun.
I'm also a techno-pop nerd.
Given your TH-cam handle that is surprising.. lol. I do love techno-pop, but what I was talking about in the comments is that I am an IT professional that works with cutting edge tech, so I'm a professional techno nerd :) Though as far as social media goes, perhaps I ma stuck in the 80s...
