I really hate the idea of a Nintendo kart. It just doesn’t seem like a good idea to me. Smash Bros is already the crossover series. There really doesn’t need to be another one. Mario kart games usually have around 30 tracks (Mario kart 8 blows that out of the water now but that’s the exception) and depending on how many series are used, that would mean be each series would only be able to get a certain number of tracks. Mario kart by itself already doesn’t use the Mario series to its fullest potential so that would just be amplified with even more IPs. Plus even if they do a Nintendo kart they’re definitely not gonna call it that. They definitely would keep it called Mario kart for brand recognition. I say just keep it Mario kart for have a few gas characters and tracks
Having all these non Mario characters in a crossover racing game just sounds very cringy to me. Having a character like Link is already weird, now imagine having someone like Ganondorf or Samus driving alongside these goofy Mario characters. It just does not fit at all.
@@bob171I agree, I think the villagers and inklings fit because they have that cartoony feel, but I don’t think we need a ton. I believe the Mario baseball games have a ton of Donkey Kong characters, and most of them feel out of place in a Mario game, Diddy and Donkey Kong are enough honestly
Im not even comfortable with Diddy Kong in Mario Kart lol he isn’t truly a Mario character. BUT, Nintendo did ret-con him in the Mario universe via the Mario movie, so I’ve learned to accept that he is a Mario character. But yea, it’s definitely enough.
They already have the Kongs, Inklings, Link and Villagers in Kart, and also tracks from other franchises like F-Zero, Excitebike and such. I think it would be great to have other Nintendo franchises here, for better character diversity, and more track options.
I also think its obvious the guest characters like Link and the Villagers were just a one time thing. Tour brought back nearly every character in the Mario Kart series excluding the characters like Link, Villager, Inkling, R.O.B., Their focus I feel now is expanding the Mario Kart series and making unique tracks within the Mario universe.
The next Mario Kart needs Mission Mode. It was a great addition to DS, and was planned for Wii. I'm sure that adding it back would only make the next game more desirable whilst differentiating it from the previous entries.
Yes, please! If not Mission Mode, then SOME kind of single-player content. My wish is for a full-blown story mode like In Crash Team Racing or Diddy Kong Racing, but that feels unlikely at this point.
I think Mario Kart should stay being Mario Kart and not become Nintendo Kart, but I think guest characters and tracks from other Nintendo games should be still be in Mario Kart. I also think adding a double dash mode is something thay would be really cool
Mario Kart needs to stay Mario Kart. Making every spin-off a massive cross-over lessens the specialty and novelty of Smash. Mario Kart 9 needs to have a big game-play shake-up. Maybe an updated drift/hop system, Planes + Boats, item management system. So many ways to make MK9 special other than improved graphics/ more content
YES! This is what I’d want from a Mario kart 9. Either this or just keeping 8 and minecraft-ing it. (Basically just constantly updating it, but I’d definitely want a new one over this.)
I don’t think Nintendo Kart should ever happen, the only reason why guest Nintendo characters are in 8 is because they’re from in house but I do see the the roster taking a step back but adding in fan wanted characters like K. Rool, Cranky Kong & E. Gadd as well as a couple of surprises like Boom Boom & Captain Syrup as playable characters
I’m going to be honest, I don’t want a Smash Kart and I want Mario Kart to stay Mario Kart because just like Smash Bros a lot of interesting characters and lore will be gone and standardize because of how many franchises they have to implement. So character like Wart and other forgotten characters may never get their chance to shine.
@@thewanderingchelmet I disagree. We have seen a lot of things that we never thought we would. We got Foreman Spike in The Super Mario Bros Movie, a remake of TTYD, a remake of Super Mario RPG, Kamek making his long overdue Mario kart debut in Tour, a new 2D Mario that wasn't New Super Mario Bros, a new Peach game, a new Mario vs Donkey Kong that doesn't have the stupid Mini Mario mechanic, Metroid Dread, and Nintendo adding Sora to Smash just to name a few.
@superwahrrior Mario Kart will most likely not change because of other Nintendo IPs. Nintendo loves being safe, and even if the games you mentioned sell well, it definitely won't change the opinions of the executives
@@thewanderingchelmet But, nobody thought Nabbit would be in Mario Kart either. Also if I told you 4 years ago that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe would be receiving DLC, you probably laugh at face and call me a lunatic.
Also I'd like tracks that are specifically from Mario games. Bob-omb Battlefield, Lost Kingdom, World 1-1, Vanilla Cave from SMW, Honeyhive Galaxy, Peach's Castle from SM64 etc..
Mario Kart is the last franchise that still has dual releases. Tour is a sequel to Mario Kart 7 and part of the mobile-only product launches, whereas Mario Kart 8 is a sequel to Mario Kart Wii and part of the console launches. Tour was conceived when it looked like mobile app gaming was the future. It’s now obvious that it’s not, and now Nintendo is moving towards consolidating production lines. It doesn’t make sense to have two Mario Kart teams, so I’m sure that’s why new Tour content is ending.
I would like to go the route where they have another Mario Kart game where it’s focused around the Mario cast with 1 row of their other Nintendo characters. The way it is on Mario Kart 8 basically. I like it that way. I want Captain Falcon on the next Mario Kart!
I think having transforming tracks the way Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed did in Mario Kart would be hella nice. We've had a taste here and there but not the whole load
the scope of those tracks were genuinely so good, race of ages was especially cool because the frontrunning racer basically got to chose how the race went for certain parts
@@magmarxiogaming6717 yh the game made great use of that concept, each track felt that much more cinematic, since they were basically telling their own story. Especially like how the Burning Rangers track progressively gets flooded for exemple
Yeah, I agree with the Wonder analogy. As expansive as the content in 8 is, the series still has a lot to offer in terms of potential. Heck, here’s an awesome idea. Take a page from the stage morph mechanic in Smash Ultimate and make every lap a different course! (Even if loading would be annoying (but hey, that’s what we have a new system for!))
The only way I could see them not going to the Smash Kart idea is if they start dipping into the side games and bring in characters like Paper Mario, Luigi, Bowser, Peach, that series villains, maybe try bringing in Mario and Luigi characters. Otherwise, I have a strong feeling we're getting a lot more franchises next time.
I mean, there are still quite a bit of decently popular and possibly interesting deep cut characters that haven’t been ever been in a Mario Kart game, not even in Tour … but also, yeah, there could possibly be at least five more non-Mario series that could be introduced into the guest roster alongside the already existing Zelda, Animal Crossing, and Splatoon characters (also bringing back ROB from DS)
I think the next Mario Kart will be a 'Double Dash' successor with the two characters, one vehicle gimmick. It would make it different enough from 8DX from a buyer's/gameplay standpoint. Also, Gamecube nostalgia is also at its highest arguably with even Nintendo themselves porting and remaking games for that system in the modern day. So, a game that directly takes influence from a beloved Gamecube game would do wonders for them.
I've been thinking a lot about MK's future and had this idea that's akin to what you said at around 17:00. I want the next games "gimmick" to be that all of the nitro course are just set pieces from Mario and Mario ajacent series. I want them to treat the *Mario* in Mario Kart like Intelligent systems treated the *Paper* in Paper Mario after Sticker Star. I feel like it would be really cool to have tracks based off mainline Mario games like Galaxy or Odyssey, spin-offs like Paper Mario or Mario & Luigi, stuff from the Sports games, the Luigi's Mansion series, DK, Wario Land and Ware. The amount of things that Mario and series around him have done as well as the amount of wacky and interesting locals they visit I think can take up at the absolute least 4 cups. And the roster could go crazy. We could have any cool characters under the sun. Popple from Superstar Saga, K. Rool, E. Gadd, Captain Syrup from Wario Land. This just all sounds so cool to me.
I'd disagree on Twitter becoming X being stupid, that name had garnered an extreme amount of negative connotations that I can understand its new owner wanting to distance himself from (especially since part of why he bought out Twitter was to fix the mess it had become)... but obviously that doesn't apply with Mario Kart. On the subject of Nintendo Kart existing alongside Mario Kart... I don't think so. It would have to be substantially different from Mario Kart for them not to compete against each other, and I don't know if they could _do_ that. So many have tried to reinvent this particular wheel, and only... three? Yeah, only three (DKR, CTR, Sonic All-Stars) can say they succeeded.
I don't really know what they could do with the next Mario Kart. Idk, maybe come up with new items and tracks instead of a crazy gimmick? IK they could bring back the Custom Items feature from the Booster Course pass.
Playing with Mario Characters that you usually don't get to play as is my favorite thing in Mario Kart. Even though I love Kirby, I would not want him in Mario Kart over someone like E Gadd.
I agree with the idea of a Mario Kart that makes use of the wider Mario universe would be the best direction to go with. Like imagine if we got a stage based off Krazy Kremland, Woohoon Hooniversity, or even Forest Maze. Maybe the latter could be a spiritual successor to Yoshi Valley. In terms of character roster? Have the player start out by unlocking more familiar faces like Toadette, Dry Bones, Bowser Jr, etc. then they find themselves unlocking Fawful and Geno and suddenly, they're finding more unexpected choices being added to the roster. Maybe relegate the Babies to Free Updates. Also if they're to have 12 cups in the base game. I wouldn't mind seeing some repeats of retro tracks. Like if the Shell cup started with Luigi Circuit from Double Dash and ended with Daisy Circuit from Wii for example. Would help that they could maybe add new gimmicks. Hell maybe they could do a better job remaking some courses, like an actual remake of Sky Garden or Sunset Wilds that does it justice. Granted, repeats of Retro Courses should be kept to a minimum in the base game, there's still a lot of tracks that could be remade.
Great ideas! I feel ya there on focusing on the main series, instead of making it into Nintendo Kart. Mario side games have such a "stingy" relationship with putting representation from other side series.
Let's be honest, Mario Kart 9 or Mario Kart X, whatever they decide to call it. Has probably been done for years. Since the team probably started the second the pourting of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was done, considering they had no Idea how well it would sell. And The team at Nintendo probably were given the green light to just keep adding more stuff (A portion sold later as DLC) until told to stop. It'll probably be a launch title For the Next Gen Switch.
Man, SMT community eating this week! We’ve been given a LOT to work with from Nintendo, though! Smash Kart I can 100% see on the table! As a one off though, it’d make a peak release title for the next Switch, I think!
This video as been everything I've been saying on reddit for the past years (except for the preservation argument which is still unvalid). Personaly, I'd prefer Mario Kart to stay Mario Kart. Just like you, I wouldn't mind smash kart as long as it do not replace MK Awesome video
No disrespect to the "Super Smash Kart" or "Nintendo Kart" people, I'm sorry, but I'd much rather Mario Kart stay Mario Kart. I love Mario characters and the world they inhabit, and in particular love that certain minor characters get their chance to shine in spin-offs like this. By opening up the floodgates for Mario Kart to not just be specifically about Mario, it means these characters will get pushed aside for characters who are already the stars of their respective series and thus already have the spotlight on them. I'm fine with them as occasional guests in Mario Kart (though even then I was initially conflicted on the idea), but yeah, to reiterate, I'd like Mario Kart to stay Mario Kart. I also don't really think having both series run concurrently will really work, either, sorry to those who want that; I just don't see how they can both exist and not have one overshadow and devour the other. The only way I can see that happen is to have them be mechanically distinct from one-another, like how F-Zero and Mario Kart are different racers, but again, I wouldn't even begin to know how to go about that.
The next Mario Kart as a launch title for the next console make sense, as it's 10+ years since MK8 been around. The next game should add a mission mode, a world tour mode, and a Mario Kart 99 style battle royale. A great new addition would be alternate costumes for characters (that way Metal Mario, Cat Peach, Tanooki Mario, etc won't be classified as "characters"). A story mode would also be a welcoming addition. For a racing game featuring Nintendo characters, it should be called Nintendo Racing (or whatever, but not kart). That way: this crossover racer wouldn't take anything away from Mario Kart in regards of the name. Calling it Nintendo Kart will take the glow that Mario Kart has. Speaking of crossovers; there needs to be a Mario x Sonic racing game. We all want a crossover between these two characters that doesn't involve the Olympics. And Nintendo and Sega have ZERO reasons why they can't make one. Absolutely zero reasons. People want to see a Mario x Sonic crossover in different genres, and a racing game is a great starting point.
Mario Kart should really have Pikachu as a playable character. Regardless of one's opinion on the series as a whole, don't you think it's a little odd that Pokemon is literally one of the only major Nintendo franchises not represented in MK8DX at all, not even as an Amiibo costume? Perhaps it's due to the Pokemon Company's strict guidelines regarding guest appearances, but even so, having Pikachu in Mario Kart would be a frankly amazing crossover between two of Nintendo's biggest franchises ever. Maybe even have a track based on all of the different Pokemon regions, starting in Kanto and ending in Paldea. The possibilities for such a crossover are endless!
I’m sorry but I wouldn’t play a Nintendo cart. Not only would *MARIO* Kart loose all it’s charm, it would basically be dead. Also it would just look really goofy. All the big buff dudes and stuff would be constantly smiling and screaming with joy. Mario characters work really well since they are always happy anyways lmao.
So I used to be a big proponent of Smash Kart, and I still am, but the only reason I am is because I don't are for what they've been doing with Mario Kart's creative decisions. Not just characters, but the tracks too. They keep retreading old ground. Grasslands, farms, canyons, the sky, beaches, haunted ghost houses, retail centers, giant houses, theme parks, it's all been done. They're running out of ideas... and that's to say nothing of their roster of playable characters. You know what the most hype DLC course for me has been so far? The Yoshi's Island track... and this made me realize why I think Mario spinoffs don't do a whole lot for me. Mario spinoffs are generally the only places where every branch of the larger Mario franchise is allowed to cross over. Luigi's Mansion, Wario Land, Donkey Kng Country, Yoshi's Island... so why aren't Mario spinoffs treated like huge celebrations of the Mario franchise? Every branch, and every era. They need to make more tracks based on the rest of the series. Maybe finally put some RPG characters and settings in a Kart game. I was typing this during the video and you started saying exactly what I was saying. So it looks like we're on the same page. Mario Spinoffs, not just Mario Kart, but all of those Mario Spinoffs wth the ensemble casts should celebrate this whole franchise. That would make me hype, even though I typically don't care that much about Mario spinoffs, it's because they don't feel like Mario games so much as they feel like other games with a Mario skin. I'd love to see that change.
I still think we probably gonna get more support to MK8 even after the Switch, be it a booster course pass 2 or whatever, and it gets support alongside the Smash/Nintendo Kart, both games get supported, fans of both things will be happy. the MK8 content will stay. Nintendo probably wouldn't change Mario Kart mecanically that much, and even if they don't get as much money as they would with a new game, DLC can still sell a lot, and is an extra incentive for people to keep paying for their online service.
16:32 I just love how you mentioned exclusively the best girls xD Man, WarioWare characters underrated outside of the girls, Orbulon and Jimmy T would be sick in terms of animations and charisma alone
Mario Kart needs to stay Mario Kart. There’s a reason it sells more than Smash Brothers. Among other things, its Mario-centric aesthetic is more appealing to more players. I know that’s one reason I haven’t ever bought a Smash Bros game. That would be lost if you started mixing Nintendo characters in. Part of the appeal of Mario Kart is being able to play as more quirky, obscure characters like Waluigi, Birdo, and Funky Kong. Why would you duplicate what already makes Smash Bros unique? Both franchises would lose their identity if they became copies of each other. Besides, Mario characters are strictly in-house IP. Once you start mixing in other IP, then you have to start a long process of licensing agreements with characters that Nintendo doesn’t fully own. Why decrease your revenue on your highest selling game when it’s not necessary? It’s just a bad idea all around. There’s still so much you can do with Mario Kart. Integrate Diddy Kong Racing tracks, or mechanics like more gliders, boats and planes. You could also do double dash mechanics but online. You can also have karts with 3-4 characters. Or simply create courses based off of unexplored games. We have yet to see Super Mario Bros. Wonder tracks. There’s literally generations worth of content if you just take a minute to think it through.
Yeah, the only way I'd be fine with Nintendo Kart is if it was a separate thing with its own branding. If Mario Kart ever abandons its Mario focus it would just break my spirit. I've been pushing for expanded Marioverse representation for years, in 2013 I was trying to get a genuine movement going to get Fawful into Mario Kart 8. That would be dead and buried the instant it's rebranded to Nintendo Kart. And I'm much more of a Mario fan than a general Nintendo fan (with even Smash only being on my radar because of Mario) so yeah, no. At most make it its own thing, but if they revealed that the next Mario Kart is Nintendo Kart I'm the one person that would be too broken inside for my reaction to get anything but dislikes (because I know most of the internet will eat it up) If I ever have to watch the final nail in the coffin be hammered in for ever getting the less-used Mario cast like RPG characters, or even Toadsworth at this point, it'll be literally watching a dream I've had for over a decade die.
Honestly a good idea for Mario Kart 9/10/whatever it's gonna be called is cutting retro tracks entirely and giving us nothing but new tracks and way more than 16. Either that or try to make a Mario Kart Ultimate with bringing back everyone alongside having all of Tour's stuff.
I hope they can add new stuff while having retro courses not seen in 8 like Wario Shipyard, Toads factory and Airship Fortess just to name a few. Also that Hank Hill impression was hilarious 😂
I love the guest characters and tracks in 8, and I'd be down for more, but I don't really want a Nintendo Kart. I think the best option is to get the standard 8 Mario Kart cups and 4 extra crossover ones. Maybe one for Pokémon, one for Zelda and 2 for the rest, and the main characters from each big Nintendo series as playable. But I wouldn't go any further than that tbh
I'd love an Adventure Mode similar to CTR or Diddy Kong. I really don't want Smash Kart, Nintendo is fine with just one massive crossover. And with how well Mario Kart does, it doesn't really need it. There's plently of other reasons, such as worry things might become more standardized, etc. People have talked about it a lot.
I'm more on the side of traditionally expanding within the Mario universe and it's various subseries. Considering just how much it's branched out and evolved since the early 80s, I think it's absolutely blasphemous that we've never seen a Mario game that really ties everything from this world together. Like, legit, I don't think people give Mario enough credit, for just how much deeper it genuinely goes, than it looks on the surface. And on top of wanting that dream possiblity to become a reality at some point, I also take a look at what we have currently, and think about what we would lose, if they did go the full crossover route. Waluigi is already notorious for getting snubbed from Smash Bros, but if Mario Kart, one of his most reliable franchises you can almost always expect to see him appear, suddenly became more Smash like, who's to say he wouldn't get phased out there, too? There's also other wacky fun choices, like Petey Piranha and Shy Guy, who you'd have to push away, too. Granted, that's not to say I hate the idea of more guest characters, or even Smash Kart at all, I would just prefer like you said, if it was it's own completely separate thing from Mario Kart.
I really don't like the idea of "Smash Kart". I dunno how unpopular this take is but I do like how Mario Kart tracks tend to be original locales that expand on the Mario world instead of being all strictly based on stuff from previous games. Not only has that given us many series favorites like Coconut Mall and Mount Wario, but it also makes the actual reference tracks stand out and feel more special. I feel like going the Smash route wouldn't really allow much room for these kind of original ideas, esp since they'd probably just get 2 tracks each based on some generic locale people have seen all the time. But more importantly, it'd mean I probably wouldn't be able to play as Nabbit in the next game LOL
this won't happen but i would like to see nintendo take inspiration from diddy kong racing and make tracks with cars, planes and boats. we already have glider and underwater sections but imagine if nintendo merged all of that. tracks could be even more crazy i think
There’s so much content to still be used. Now that Nintendo has ret-conned Donkey Kong into the Mario Universe I could totally see them having Diddy Kong Racing courses integrated into Mario Kart. Because of MK’s success, they’ve already said there isn’t enough resources to make an F-Zero. I’m sure the same applies to Diddy Kong Racing.
If they listen to all the QoL requested features, it will be the best Mario Kart of all time even with only 32 tracks and 8 battle courses. (I mean, stuff people REALLY WANT, like balloon battle elimination mode like n64, mission mode, etc)
Honestly, just go for an overall Nintendo Kart. There's so few Mario characters left that can get people hyped up, and they're NEVER going to add anything truly deep from the archives like Wart or Tetenga, so why not just throw Kirby and Fox and Samus in there? We already got it once with Link and Animal Crossing
I would say just expand the Mario universe. Just to build on the franchise with others like DK Country and Wario Ware. I would love to see characters like Dixie, Cranky, King K Rool, Mona, Ashley and Jimmy be playable.
If they did do Nintendo Kart they would have to port over the Yoshi's Island track from the booster course pass. It basically shows the amount of detail and fan service we would want from crossover tracks.
I’m probably the only one but I’d want a 1P Adventure Mode or Story Mode for the next Mario Kart, that’s one of the things I liked about Crash Team Racing, Diddy Kong Racing and even Sonic Riders over Mario Kart.
The way I see it, the moment they make Nintendo Kart, there's no going back to just Mario Kart, as it would create a constant problem for the series. It'd make people who loved the idea and the crossovers disappointed and even lose interest if the next one is just Mario Kart again. I like the idea but it's risky on the long term. Having both could also create the problem of saturating their own market and dividing their audience. I'd argue even MK8D, similarly to Smash Ultimate, has created a titan of a title so big that whatever they do next, unless is topping said titan, will disappoint. I believe this alongside the money it makes is the reason why they haven't released a new Mario Kart. It's a tricky situation for sure. I do believe it's possible to make both Nintendo Kart and a Mario Kart 9 and succeed with both, but it'll definitely require a lot of planning and caution.
7:529:1216:47 *Spring Man getting robbed of another crossover game:* _You took everything from me!_ *Min Min:* Bruh who tf are you lmao But yeah, I agree that Mario Kart should *not* become Nintendo Kart, and that a Nintendo crossover racing game needs to be its own thing. You make it a crossover, that means tons of actual Mario characters and content would get cut in order to add more stuff from other Nintendo franchises. I doubt we'd ever get fan-favorites like Dry Bones, King Boo, Kamek, Petey, and the Koopalings on a Nintendo crossover racing game roster. No Nintendo Kart until we get Mario Kart 9/10 first, imo. Also, I agree that the next Mario Kart needs to have a story mode or mission mode. That would easily help it stand out from its predecessors.
I'm not against Mario Kart transitioning into Nintendo/Smash Kart at SOME point... Or at least it becoming a spinoff or experimental one off game. Because eventually, they'll only be so much more you could do with Mario Kart as its been. But the issue is, Mario Kart as a Mario focused racer still has so much untapped potential. The minute you make it about Smash, the attention will be to other Nintendo characters or 3rd parties. Which I don't think those characters or elements will be bad (still better than babies and metal clones), its just it will immediately drain that Mario energy y'know? What the series has always been. And especially with how Mario has shown its still capable of innovativing and doing things beyond the basics, I want to let Mario Kart as a series still cook in the Mario boundaries. I can see us making better character picks that fit in line with the Mario universe, I can see the series building on old concepts, or even coming up with insane new ones. Just needs the time to do so... Before we get 80 Fire Emblem characters eating the roster spots instead lel (jk).
Possible retro tracks for the next Mario Kart??? SNES Bowser Castle 2 SNES Koopa Beach 1 SNES Mario Circuit 4 SNES Ghost Valley 3 N64 Wario Stadium GBA Broken Pier GBA Rainbow Road GCN Mushroom City GCN Wario Colosseum GCN Bowser’s Castle GCN Rainbow Road DS Figure-8 Circuit DS Bowser Castle DS Rainbow Road Wii Luigi Circuit Wii Toad’s Factory Wii Bowser’s Castle 3DS Wuhu Loop Wii U Mount Wario Wii U Excitebike Arena Wii U Mute City Wii U Hyrule Circuit Wii U Animal Crossing Wii U Big Blue And also having more of the big fan-favourite tracks from across the series (that already returned in other previous games) being DLC (which is why I’d still wanna get a huge chunk of the unremade tracks over with first in the base game, kinda like MK8’s original base game)
I really hope we do NOT get a Smash/Nintendo Kart as a replacement for Mario Kart. It would kill lots of the originality that makes Mario Kart what it is and I feel like many people don't realize that. The track selection would basically be the Smash stage selection as race tracks. No room for original themes like the beloved Coconut Mall, Waluigi Pinball, Maple Treeway, and whatever ideas they would come up with. Just take a look at the Zelda track. To me, the Zelda theming is really all it's got going for it, otherwise it's one of the most boring tracks. That's personal taste I know, but if every or most of the tracks would just be "this is the one that represents X franchise" they would lose their individual appeals very quickly. The character selection has the same problem. All the beloved minor Mario characters would not make the cut and it would instead just be a carbon copy of the Smash roster. Probably not even that with how big it is. Most if not all the 3rd parties wouldn't make the cut except for maybe Sonic and Pac-Man. But still there's no way Petey Piranha, Wiggler, Pauline, or even Waluigi would make the cut. All the music would just be remixes as well. And with how iconic original Mario Kart music is, that would be sad as well. We already have a perfect crossover series in Smash Bros. I'd like for Mario Kart to retain its identity. Guest characters and tracks are fine, especially as DLC, but I'm strongly against making them the main focus.
"Smash Kart" and "Nintendo Kart" gives me a visceral reaction, so much untapped Mario content to add. Couldn't care any less about other IPs being in the series.
I am open for a Nintendo kart racer. The Roster of characters in MK8 really sucks. I mean, we now have 5 different versions of Peach: Regular Peach, Baby Peach, Cat Peach, Pink Gold Peach, and now Peachette. I take an interesting non Mario characters such as K. Rool, Captain Falcon, Olimar, Spring Man, or Fox McCloud over something like Dr. Peach, or Sword Fighter Peach, or Pink Gold Baby Dr. Baby Peach.
Smash Kart(although it will be entirely Nintendo IPs unlike modern Smash). We are quite a bit beyond just Mario already. There is no point in having non Nintendo characters in a go kart game though.
I think what may happen is that the next entry will still keep the name "mariokart" but it'll introduce all sorts of nintendo characters. Either that, or we'll just get another mariokart with the same mario characters. Either one works.
Personally, I can't see them going back to the 16 New, 16 Retro thing. After the Booster Course Pass, that's way too much to just make it that simple again. I would personally suggest nothing _but_ new courses for MK9. At least 32...maybe
What they should do is introduce the whole drilling into the ground idea that was originally planned for Mario Kart 8 and I do think the director of that game said we may see that idea one day.
I do NOT want Nintendo Kart. I want more guest characters in Mario kart, but Mario Kart needs to stay “MARIO.” Mario Kart is the Mario spin-off. It’s the main game we have to gather the Mario cast and minor characters into a wonderful game. You can’t unbrand Mario Kart. It’s almost it’s own series, and it has so much power in its name.
I still rather see Smash Kart never be attempted, unless Nintendo decides to go Griffith from Berserk and sacrifice both Mario Kart's, AND SSB's unique identity and legacy to make a series that more or less would be there to be ultimate form of printing money, even if the end result might be very safe and comfortable in realm of what's been done on Mario Kart already. Other kart racers or crossovers would also be glossed over such a lucrative money mill - like how we'd never get Kirby Air Ride 2 with possibly it's own fun selection of Kirby's all-stars because Kirby in a Nintendo Kart would make much more profit for so much less time spent. I mean, I can see how casual gamers would enjoy the game up nicely with Smash/Nintendo Kart offering the same crossover experience in more easier-to-access level than Smash (arguably) - but wouldn't it'd only end up cannibalizing sales for Smash-games themselves? Maybe ev even Mario Kart along the way incase people would find a vanilla kart racer more boring with something much bigger around? If not that, then there's just a grave risk of cross-contamination with Smash-series itself anyway, making the brand itself feel less unique as a result. --Also please, I rather not have TWO series now with speculation/fandom wars-- A long time ago when Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled was still doing it's stellar roster picks covering ton of fan-favorites and surprises from various parts of Crash Bandicoot's history, I always wondered why Mario Kart never expanded itself the same way, but now giving more spotlight on Mario's sub-series that span RPGs or franchises from characters already featured in Mario Kart, such as DK and Wario. With how lucrative Mario Kart is, imagine just how much it could help give spotlight and interest to characters beyond the Mainline Marios if ever featured - besides, boy I'd LOVE to race as Mona from Warioware in Mario Kart. The styles would be less clashing to work with too, I think. On that note, a f Double Dash-like would also be really fun - or heck, take that to entirely new level and maybe make the cars have one driver and two backseaters to manage items. Mario Kart: Triple Throttle? I'd like the sound of that.
after the DLC & Booster Course Pass, I don't think a new Mario Kart will differentiate between Nitro & Retro cups anymore. Retro tracks in MK8 are revamped to the point they can easily stand toe to toe with the new tracks, so why put them in seperate cups at that point? every game since at least Wii has added some sort of new gimmick, so I imagine a Mario Kart 9 will be centered on some brand new wacky mechanic
I gotta be honest, Guppy would’ve been a way better choice of character from Super Mario Galaxy than Honey Queen in Mario Kart 7! I know he’s a killer whale but hey, they’d found a way to fit him in as a racer!
i am gonna be totally honest. I HATE the idea of nintendo kart. the brand is and always has been mario kart and just crushing it to include everyone defeats the purpose. besides smash is already the crossover game, so defeating the purpose of smash bros AND mario kart doesn't feel like a good idea. plus wouldn't it be weird if someone like ridley raced next to mr game and watch? it just isn't right.
People the solution is simple. Just give Mario Kart the Smash Ultimate treatment and bring back every character, kart, glider, track, and items from every Mario Kart game (include the arcade games). Boom! Mario Kart Ultimate!
Thumbnail be like: “There are two roads set before every individual. The left. The right. What lies down the road you choose? Is it hope? Or despair…? It repeats, and repeats, as you make countless, endless choices. You too, like everyone, have been making them all along. If the results satisfy, that is well and good. But…if they do not satisfy… What then? Will you weep, battered by grief? Or howl, seething with rage? Have you never prayed that time would simply stop? Have you ever wished the "now" would last forever…? Your two lives, thriving and persisting far beyond Homecoming, surpassing the system of the world. I was fascinated, even beguiled by you. My name is Z, the ruler of this world. I shall grant…your desire. … So you have chosen, then. The "endless now".”
Geno and Mallow probably won't happen, since Nintendo actually doesn't own them. This is even said back in Mario and Luigi gba that Geno is owned by Square Enix.
I don't see them porting Ultimate because I feel that would make the situation worse because that's more characters they'll have to chop. Just reboot it.
Why not just do another half step toward Smash Kart? Maybe even put "Smash" or "Nintendo" in the title, but still have 50-70% of the content be Mario, Yoshi, Wario or DK themed. If that still goes well, try fully rebranding the series. At the same time, solve the content problem by allowing the Booster Course DLC to work with MK9, or unlock all of 8's courses/characters if you have a MK8DX save file and own the DLC. Especially if MK9 comes near the next console's launch, keep people buying the DLC or subscribed to NSO. Don't kill sales prematurely by launching a new game. This would be the ultimate big brain move because it would encourage people to buy MK8 and MK9 and the DLC; you're selling 3 SKUs at once. Then MK9 can have it's own DLC too.
I am fine with either but I think flying around a track with an r wing seems fun. Whatever the next game is I hope it's super big budget, super ambitious and super different to mk8 because otherwise there's no point to me.
My worry is the next hardware. Imagine you don't own a nintendo console, but want one, and get nintendo's 2024 console. Look at that, it's backwards compatible with switch titles. Do you grab the new Mario Kart, or do you grab 8DX with triple the track count? If the new hardware is backwards compatible with switch titles, Nintendo is putting themselves in a real problem spot for MK9, and i can see MK8finity get another booster course pass, maybe some new weapons and battle maps, maybe a mission mode and definitely a graphics refresh, and they call it a day. That's the option you did not put in the thumbnail. however, if there is no backwards compatibility issue, MK9 can be just a normal mario kart.
This is my take on it They did too much effort on Mario Kart Tour I feel like Mario Kart 9 will exist and will be the absolute biggest collection of retro courses, including literally all of them back alongside new ones This goes for characters, items and karts Since most of the work is already done, they can also add many new things like modes, tracks, characters and such They could make a final amazing Mario Kart
@@mariobroultimate1808 Well to start expanding it slowly and have work done They already brought back the dlc of base 8 for 8 Deluxe, this would be just the same but in a bigger scale and with new additions
@@Quinhala11 Not fully Many fan favourites and other courses in Tour and outside are missing But i do not think it would be much effort to go all the way by the next Mario Kart, since they have most of them ready
I could see a Mario sonic kart game if they won’t do a platformer , like give me 25 mario and 25 sonic characters so I can have shadow the hedgehog, dr eggman and cream the rabbit on a race against waluigi, birdo and dry bowser on a rainbow road, sky sanctuary hybrid
What is this about Min Min? You know Spring Man and Ribbon Girl headline Arms, a very underwhelming game, and Min Min only made Smash at developer behest. That would be like instead of Kirby we got Adeline from Kirby 64.
It better not be a smash kart, and you should be better than to support the idea (just saying) Nintendo kart would only appeal to Nintendo’s lowest IQ fans. People who don’t even care about MARIO KART fans
@@WritingCountingOriginal I'm not really supporting the idea, I'm just saying what it could probably be called. If anything, what I really want is a Mario Kart Creator so I can make custom tracks. I know Wii has custom tracks, but it'd be very user-friendly if Nintendo made the tools themselves.
If they do some sort of “Super Smash Kart” or whatever THAT needs to be a Whole Different Game entirely akin to like Sonic & Sega all Stars Racing or something. That or a Mode in the Next Smashy Bros. Adding in a ton Characters that are Non-Mario KIIINDA takes away from the MARIO in “Mario Kart”. Besides,a better title would be “Nintendo Racing Superstars” or something,Not Smash Kart 💀
Barely. Having guest characters and tracks doesn’t count as Nintendo Kart. If there were a variety of Nintendo tracks and characters more than Mario, then that would it make it a crossover game.
@@bob171give them cool vehicles
Oh for sure there are so many challenges that they can come up with now.
Mission mode was the best! I miss it so much, and I’d hate if it never returns
I want that too but with a Cinematic story along with this. Give the Mario Kart single player a narrative based on the tracks.
Yes, please! If not Mission Mode, then SOME kind of single-player content. My wish is for a full-blown story mode like In Crash Team Racing or Diddy Kong Racing, but that feels unlikely at this point.
I think Kart Wii had a weird online only mode with some missions and bosses.
Wart will never be in a mario game neither would many of the other forgotten characters.
Even if Smash Kart never happens, a random New Donk City citizen is more likely to get in a new Mario Kart than Wart.
I'm just figuring out that Mario Kart Tour could be considered a hand held game. How have I not thought of that.
Maybe even straight up replacing gliders with straight up flight like in that game (but also I guess Diddy Kong Racing already did that before)
the scope of those tracks were genuinely so good, race of ages was especially cool because the frontrunning racer basically got to chose how the race went for certain parts
I mean, there are still quite a bit of decently popular and possibly interesting deep cut characters that haven’t been ever been in a Mario Kart game, not even in Tour
… but also, yeah, there could possibly be at least five more non-Mario series that could be introduced into the guest roster alongside the already existing Zelda, Animal Crossing, and Splatoon characters (also bringing back ROB from DS)
I want Double Dash 2. That formula hasn't been used since Gamecube. It would've been perfect for Switch. Maybe Switch 2?
R.O.B. must return in the next game. He must, for it was foretold in the ancient prophecy.
K. Rool would be such a hype pick for MK8 he's my most wanted
My prediction: the next Mario kart is gonna use the tour art style

@@SuperMarioT Bro really said
No disrespect to the "Super Smash Kart" or "Nintendo Kart" people, I'm sorry, but I'd much rather Mario Kart stay Mario Kart.
Me personally I have no issue with disrespect towards Nintendo kart desirers.
They are a joke to the Mario Kart fanbase.
Mario cast with a good guest here and there.
Like how Mortal Kombat has guests.
If they add mostly SSB cast it loses a lot of the Mario identity.
The next Mario Kart will be....
Mario Kart 8: Triple Deluxe
16:32 I just love how you mentioned exclusively the best girls xD
Man, WarioWare characters underrated outside of the girls, Orbulon and Jimmy T would be sick in terms of animations and charisma alone
At most make it its own thing, but if they revealed that the next Mario Kart is Nintendo Kart I'm the one person that would be too broken inside for my reaction to get anything but dislikes (because I know most of the internet will eat it up)
If I ever have to watch the final nail in the coffin be hammered in for ever getting the less-used Mario cast like RPG characters, or even Toadsworth at this point, it'll be literally watching a dream I've had for over a decade die.
It must remain Mario Kart without objection, there may be one or another guest but nothing more, not everything necessarily has to be a crossover.
@Telmarine55 Nintendo never reconnect DK in the mario universe. This is not the movie.
Dixie Kong is playable in Tour in case you didn’t know.

*Spring Man getting robbed of another crossover game:* _You took everything from me!_
*Min Min:* Bruh who tf are you lmao
But yeah, I agree that Mario Kart should *not* become Nintendo Kart, and that a Nintendo crossover racing game needs to be its own thing.
SNES Bowser Castle 2
SNES Koopa Beach 1
SNES Mario Circuit 4
SNES Ghost Valley 3
N64 Wario Stadium
GBA Broken Pier
GBA Rainbow Road
GCN Mushroom City
GCN Wario Colosseum
GCN Bowser’s Castle
GCN Rainbow Road
DS Figure-8 Circuit
DS Bowser Castle
DS Rainbow Road
Wii Luigi Circuit
Wii Toad’s Factory
Wii Bowser’s Castle
3DS Wuhu Loop
Wii U Mount Wario
Wii U Excitebike Arena
Wii U Mute City
Wii U Hyrule Circuit
Wii U Animal Crossing
Wii U Big Blue
And also having more of the big fan-favourite tracks from across the series (that already returned in other previous games) being DLC (which is why I’d still wanna get a huge chunk of the unremade tracks over with first in the base game, kinda like MK8’s original base game)
I want Smash Kart because games like Star Fox have great potential.
The next Mario Kart will be a remaster of MKDD, Nintendo is on a mission to revive old GameCube games
"Smash Kart" and "Nintendo Kart" gives me a visceral reaction, so much untapped Mario content to add. Couldn't care any less about other IPs being in the series.
Hank Hill for Mario Kart! Let’s goooooooo
Baby Peach.
Mario Kart to the main Mario games be out here becoming Nintendo’s equivalent of Persona to SMT
--Also please, I rather not have TWO series now with speculation/fandom wars--
A long time ago when Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled was still doing it's stellar roster picks covering ton of fan-favorites and surprises from various parts of Crash Bandicoot's history, I always wondered why Mario Kart never expanded itself the same way, but now giving more spotlight on Mario's sub-series that span RPGs or franchises from characters already featured in Mario Kart, such as DK and Wario.
I'm fine with non-Mario characters and tracks in Mario Kart as long as the focus remains as MARIO.
I just want mario kart, we already have smash for the crossover series.
Mario: “Itsa Moebin’ time! Wahooooo!!”
Do Nintendo kart, but name it Mario Kart 10: Smash!
Geno and Mallow probably won't happen, since Nintendo actually doesn't own them. This is even said back in Mario and Luigi gba that Geno is owned by Square Enix.
This is good Super Mario T! Smash Kart! But what if Ash or Pikachu or Liko would be in the 🎮? 👀
Want mario kart 9 to have a story mode, costumes for each character, a dozen non mario characters and tracks
Like splatoon?
0:19 do a single player campaing similar to Diddy Kong Racing, the rest you can keep
They can make Mario kart like ctr nitro fueled it will have an adventure mode, classic ways to unlock characters and karts, missions and challenges
If they dwelve in the smash kart direction, they should call it "Mario and Nintendo Superstar Racing" lol.
They shouldn’t. That would be an insult to MARIO KART fans, and only to appeal to some idiotic Nintendo meat riders… don’t support the idea.
I am fine with either but I think flying around a track with an r wing seems fun. Whatever the next game is I hope it's super big budget, super ambitious and super different to mk8 because otherwise there's no point to me.
Bro said Cackletta... shut up Now enjoy racing as Boom Boom
Boom Boom and Pom Pom for Double Dash 2
This is my take on it
They did too much effort on Mario Kart Tour
I feel like Mario Kart 9 will exist and will be the absolute biggest collection of retro courses, including literally all of them back alongside new ones
This goes for characters, items and karts
Since most of the work is already done, they can also add many new things like modes, tracks, characters and such
They could make a final amazing Mario Kart
If Mario Kart 9 were to have every single track from the series, then what was even the point of the Booster Course Pass?
@@mariobroultimate1808 Well to start expanding it slowly and have work done
They already brought back the dlc of base 8 for 8 Deluxe, this would be just the same but in a bigger scale and with new additions
Mario Kart Tour and the Booster Course Pass are literally that
@@Quinhala11 Not fully
Many fan favourites and other courses in Tour and outside are missing
But i do not think it would be much effort to go all the way by the next Mario Kart, since they have most of them ready
@@Pau-sp9yp Yeah, they brought back the DLC because it's literally the same game. Mario Kart 9 would be a brand new game.
I don’t think they gonna make a Nintendo Kart but they could put more Guests Characters in the next Mario Kart like Kirby, Fox, Pit and Samus
No more guest characters. More mario characters
I sell propane and propane accessories- 😭
I could see a Mario sonic kart game if they won’t do a platformer , like give me 25 mario and 25 sonic characters so I can have shadow the hedgehog, dr eggman and cream the rabbit on a race against waluigi, birdo and dry bowser on a rainbow road, sky sanctuary hybrid
What is this about Min Min? You know Spring Man and Ribbon Girl headline Arms, a very underwhelming game, and Min Min only made Smash at developer behest. That would be like instead of Kirby we got Adeline from Kirby 64.
Double Dash 2 is literally is all they need.....
They don't even need to name it "Nintendo Kart". Just keep the Mario Kart name and include a bunch of crossover characters and tracks.
Ew. That would be a shitty Mario kart game if it wasn’t **Mario** based.
Don’t be a Nintendo meatrider…
Mario Kart x DK Barrel x Sonic All Stars
If Nintendo made a smash kart, it'd be called Mario Kart X (x for crossover and also the roman numeral 10).
It better not be a smash kart, and you should be better than to support the idea (just saying)
Nintendo kart would only appeal to Nintendo’s lowest IQ fans.
Also fuck Mario Kart 9,Gimme Double Dash 2.🗿
Lmaooo
Mario Kart just becomes Nintendo Kart, Nintendo is just as recognisable of a brand, it would sell just as well if not more.
Barely. Having guest characters and tracks doesn’t count as Nintendo Kart. If there were a variety of Nintendo tracks and characters more than Mario, then that would it make it a crossover game.
I want Star Fox tracks and Falco!
Smash Kart is a terrible idea. I may be a Star Fox fan, but we need to KEEP the Mario in Mario Kart!
