    Let's all order a bunch of these and make a container town. We can complain if someone tries to build a normal house nearby.

    Almost built a shipping container home. Literally bought land, had plans and about to go through engineering, but neighbors go wind of it and quickly turned it into a huge deal. Long story short, I could not build the container home. Ended up building a "traditional" home that looks identical to shipping containers. So I now have a 2500 sq.ft. pseudo container home :)

      Hey there. Live in an area where we all have acreage, but it’s on a private road, owned and maintained by the 10 homes on it. There is a “street” HOA that setup rules on how and what can be done to protect the property values.

    • @loxinvisible
      @loxinvisible 7 ปีที่แล้ว +24

      danielasylvester anything that touches nuclear waste becomes "to the grave". unless it is just contaminated, which can be cleaned and ok for use. other products/chemicals are not monitored/regulated as closely. be safe and enjoy your journey.

      People are so worried when it comes to toxic waste, yet people smoke and dont realize that it gives more harm of radiation than living close to nuclear disaster areas, Chernobyl > smoke!
      Also people think about shipping toxic as if it would touch the container.. :D
      There is a way to contain stuff and then transport it.. yeye i open up for silly comments about how nuclear...

    They may all come from China now, but the man who invented and patented them was from Texas. Container #1 is in middle of the circle drive at the little ranch just out of town from where I live. His son was friends with Sam Walton and now owns a huge chunk of Wal-Mart. He still takes his lunch to work in a brown paper bag most days. Lol

    I like the picture they took at 1:46. The open area between the shipping containers is actually one of the first thing that came to my mind when I discovered that they were used as building material. I thought it would be interesting to have four containers forming a square with a small courtyard in the middle, like your own private garden.

    This is so innovative and brilliant! I even saw the storage container swimming pools too! The real question is how cost effective is this. It probably costs a lot to transport these and move them to your build sites and I'm sure the seller or company will try to get as much profit as possible arguing price comparisons and durability but it's still so unique. I love this concept of home containers.
    I think that the reason why some neighbors may have a problem with this is pure jealousy as they had to pay over 200K and more to build or buy their house and this technology comes in and a person doesn’t even spend 50k to end up with these amazing results. I also think that it will eventually cause lowering the prices value of the regular houses with time so this wonderful idea is great but could impact house owners who already bought their house.
    Im not a house owner yet but I’m looking to have build my dream containers home.
    Maybe considering creating neighborhoods made of these types of houses in each city...long term project?

    Perfect use for containers. When done correctly, they look awesome, just the opposite of what many peoples initial negative thoughts regarding them as homes. they look far better than a similar concrete structure. That so-called man-cave example looks really incredible. cant think of anyone who would accept one of those if offered. They are such a cost effective solution to home building.

    The roof of these containers is very thin and can't hold more than two two people standing on the roof at the same time. These contains are meant for stacking on the corners, that's where all the strength is. Based on other designs its best to add an additional roof above the container for soundproofing from rain, hail and snow, wind, and additional insulation.

    • @edi9892
      @edi9892 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I´ve worked for a Chemical plant and they contaminated the groundwater so that if you use a local well it comes out piss yellow. It´s probably carcinogenic (due to aromats and other compounds). Right next to it are a bunch of small gardens were stressed out city villagers grow their crops... I have no idea how that´s even legal and we´re talking of Switzerland and not some Banana republic.
      In favour of the company, I should add a few things:
      1) it was built 100 years ago on purpose outside a major city with a healthy distance to the next settlement, but close to a major railway station for supplies. Thereafter, other companies settled there and suddenly the workers started living there as well and it became a true town (which is the very opposite of what it was supposed to be!)
      2) We knew for a long time that pipes were leaky, but the company was struggling financially and couldn´t afford to repair it. Moreover, they assumed that the concrete beneath was keeping it from the groundwater as planned, but that thing was about as leaky as the piping...
      3) the company has filed bankruptcy in the meantime. IMHO it was due to massive mismanagement from the CEO. That narcissistic Kant does deny any responsibility to this day, though everyone else admitted his part of the problem.
      PS: the gardens and households are supplied with water pipelines and not by groundwater. Otherwise, they would have lynched our CEO. However, that doesn´t make the fertile soil any better...

    little hint. level your interview shots.. the sloped containers are not pleasing to the eye. also refrain from saying "yeah" and "ok" during the interview as it can be heard. other than that nice video.

  • @genalinecabjie4502

    i appreciate the idea of having 2 containers on the sides and keeping one's creative space at the center. I think the idea of container-houses can work well on places that is usually flooded. Then, one can possibly move your house when storms arrive... ( I'm not sure if that can be taken (yet) legally in any city where flooding is a commonplace.)

  • @DONJULIANOrtiz

    this is really very cool, but how is for the environment? if your using a new container for housing purposes, how does it compare to a traditional residential building? what's the carbon/water footprint of these containers and their modifications?

      If you're worried about carbon footprint, just replant the forests we've cut down during the last few hundred years. Also, we'll be on new fuels in a few years so won't be burning so many fossil fuels. Basically its a non issue. I'm more concerned about the poisonous chemtrails than burning fossil fuels.

  • @tarkiss

    I was seriously considering buying a used container because they're a lot shipper than new ones, but this guy says that they may have been carring nuclear waste?! How come they can use those to transport nuclear waste and then just keep renting them to other clients, o sell it to people that want to build a home? wouldn't that be illegal? There must be protocols ... 🤔

    I dont get it. They use containers to build homes but yet a used container lasts for 10-20 years.. So a new one what is it like 50 years? 60? Personally i wouldn't build a home that has an expire date. Also, what's up with electricity? Yes there must be a way to secure everything but what if something suddenly happens? Its all metal, everybody in the house will get roasted without any warnings.. Its an easy n' cheap way of building a home but i dont know man..

  • @ThatBronxgirl7

    This is how we solve the housing crisis gripping the USA. But I feel greed and "not in my backyard' will eventually make them unaffordable. The containers will get more expensive and states will make permits so costly.
