Ford Ranger Engine Upgrades - ( Custom Dyno Tune & High Flow Fuel Injectors )

- This Ford Ranger engine upgrades involves a custom dyno tune and fitting high flow fuel injectors to boost the engine performance.

I'm amazed that the injectors got removed without a good clean up of the engine. I would never remove the injectors or anything without a good clean up of everything. Spray some brake clean around, a soft brush, a rag wipe & air blow off before removing anything. Cleanliness is important in every step of the process.....
So does this extra power achieved come on due to the other mods that have been done previously. I.e can I get this power increase without these mods and just injectors and tune?

5 Cylinder engine, a better balanced crank rotation with one piston reaching the top at a time. Find it amazing what a nozzle change do(wonder if you only change the nozzles with out any other mods, what difference in output will be?). DTA seems confident on the reliability? Thanks!
are you thinking of having high flow injectors on your patrol.
Also do you change your fuel filter on your car or do you take it down to DTA

I’ve never changed my fuel ever.
I couldn’t tell the last time it was changed.

I am suprised you never changed the fuel filter, it must have changed quite a few times while you owned the patrol.
The reason why i asked was because you did a oil filter change video on your zd30.
On this video of the ranger the man went to start the ranger and it took a long time starting, but that was due to the fuel system needing to be primed.
When fitting something like injectors or a major job, you may need to prime the fuel system so no air gets in the diesel fuel system.
Because of this and the oil filter tutorial as said above i was wondering if you have changed the filter and primed your zd30 as a result and if so a tutorial of the priming in particular would be useful, as not many people know that commonwealth systems need to be primed.
Beloe is a link to a tutorial of a fuel filter change and prime.
A lot of people have used fresh diesel in a can and have put some indie fuel 2D engine line before using the primer, to save time on the primer bulb, but this risks adding air to the fuel system unless you squeeze the fuel delivery line until there are no air bubbles left.

I know they need to be primed once the fuel filter is changed to get the fuel back up the lines.

DTA have made a massive difference with my Patrol.
They have done a lot of Rangers now, they are a popular model wanting these kinds of engine mods.
They sure are well worth having a chat with.

@@timbates4wdadventures Thanks, did reach out but they couldn't give me any other information except that they are sourced by another company from overseas. I was really hoping it was a reputable manufacturer. There are 4 main players that I've found. One of them isn't known for using good metal, and their injector nozzles have no markings... I'm still searching, so if anyone has info I would greatly appreciate it.

Ford, this rubbish is UNACCEPTABLE!!! There's a reason why AMG use petrol in their G Class. (Price aside, I know which vehicle is better on or off road)

Nice info, thank you :) One thing I am always surprised about with these types of upgrades is they never upgrade the Harmonic Balance because with the extra power there is increased torsional vibration through out the engine and the standard harmonic balance can only handle a max 10% power and torque increase with a shortening of its life span.
You don’t need to upgrade that it just runs your fucking alternator and sometimes steering pump

I done a great upgrade , I traded the bloody thing in with 30k on it never again grrr
My ranger was stock block , had drivers seat replaced at 6k because all the fabric and stitching fell apart , spat the rear engine seal at 22k was done under warranty but what would the cost be if it was out of warranty could not keep wheel alignments up to it . Upgraded to the tried and trusted Isuzu Dmax have never looked back . Folks rave about the ford ranger it was nice to drive but that’s where it stops with me .
