    Hi There. Would you recommend a professional remapping on the ford T6 facelift 2.2 and do you know if the turbo fitted in that model can handle 20W extra power?

    • @TurboDirectSA
      @TurboDirectSA  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Antonie - definitely not the 2.2 is already a problem child with its stock turbo, doing software will shorten the life of the turbo GUARANTEED!

    Hi do you have a Powermax turbo for the 2.2 BT 50 ?

    • @TurboDirectSA
      @TurboDirectSA  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Apologies, no Garrett does not make a powermax for the smaller 2.2 motor. I would not recommend upgrading this turbo, they are not able to handle higher rotational speeds and will fail sooner than the original units do - these are already a problem with failures in stock format, compressor wheels bursting and when software is done, the thrust assemblies fail - stay away.

    Hi TurboDirect S.A
    I have a 2015 Ford Ranger 3.2 PX2 and wanted to ask if this Powermax Turbo would fit my Ranger and make a difference?
    I ask this cause the OEM turbo (FB3Q-6K682-DD) on the compressor side has a 45mm inlet, but the Garrett Powermax GT22 or GTB2256VK is only 40mm.
    I also noticed the Electronic Actuator plug is in a Higher Position on the OEM but lower on the Garrett Powermax GT22 - Does this matter?
    Your expertise and advise will be much appreciated.

      There are two variants of the stock turbocharger from the 3.2 ranger. The latest is the revision that ises the UTA, instead of the older REA controller for the VNT assembly - this has the plug for the actuator in a different position, and not compatible with the older models at all.
      We do a hybrid upgrade to these turbos which yields ALOT more power than the powermax, and costs less than 50%

    Hi there. Do you think a second turbocharger can be added to the single turbo ecoblue engine of the ranger/ endeavour to make into a twin turbo 2.0 engine that powers the everest/ raptor?

    • @TurboDirectSA
      @TurboDirectSA  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not at all - the unit is a VNT turbo, and electronically controlled by the ECU - it wont be possible to tune/setup/calibrate a second unit without massive development in the tuning, ECU, sector of the vehicle -

      @@TurboDirectSA thank you for clarifying the complexity involved.. guess we out here have to wait for Ford India to launch the twin turbo if ever they decide to

      @@adityakrishna6016 Pleasure - Ford have in fact released their twin turbo setup on the new Biturbo Raptor engine - uses two Garrett turbochargers - i still will never purchase this vehicle as trying to use it for heavy loads like towing 2 tons or more behind it with such a small powerplant is not what i would use this tiny engine for. Yes it has 8 or 10 gears depending which model you purchase, but im the kind of driver who demands torque to use for towing - aka a large engine with capacity which will result in reliability over long periods of abuse/work/loads

    • @adityakrishna6016

      @@TurboDirectSA the 3.2 makes sense as its larger size allows it to spin with less stress under load. Ford has launched the 2020 Endeavour here in India with a 2.0 litre single turbo which makes less power than than the 3.2.. the only downside is bad fuel economy of the 3.2 in city conditions. I guess i will look around for a 2019 3.2 as I have my heart set on the Endeavour/everest.

      @@adityakrishna6016 Our country has a different setup entirely -- funnily enough the bursting turbochargers on the 2.2 range were made in india with part# 787556-5017S -- the production was moved to the UK after we wrote the forensic metallurgical report for Garrett, and the part# changed.
      The 3.2 motor is a larger one and able to cater for highloads/towing/abuse as compared to the smaller 2.0 variant.

    İs there any turbo option for a 2015 ranger 2.2?

    • @TurboDirectSA
      @TurboDirectSA  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Beware of upgrading this turbo - its the most popular failing turbo on the market today - don't push the boundaries, its already on its limit in stock format

    this upgrade serves to ranger 3.2 2017?

    • @TurboDirectSA
      @TurboDirectSA  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No it does not - after 2015, the turbocharger changed. It looks the same, but there are massive differences, including the REA (rotary electronic actuator) which now becomes the UTA (universal turbo actuator, which is located in a slightly different position, and uses a different plug and protocol - not compatible with the older ECU at all.

    Why do p5at owners stick with this model turbo and not look at a totally different better turbo?,if we r tuning anyway,,ie adapter to a T3/25 turbo manifold flange the worlds ya oyster then... genuine question cheers

    • @TurboDirectSA
      @TurboDirectSA  ปีที่แล้ว

      The main reason is that the turbo is VNT, and electronically controlled by the ECU via an REA (rotary electronic actuator) which is not possible to control a T3/T25 etc.

  • @1989cranston

    soooo... is there a performance difference between the two or is this just an FYI video?

    • @TurboDirectSA
      @TurboDirectSA  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes there is - the powermax increases power by 25KW, with software and hardware supporting mods you will see 200KW from the stock 147KW

    • @1989cranston
      @1989cranston 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the reply. So a simple swap out will increase power by 25KW with no extra modification or a retune????? would this have the potential to damage the engine or other componentry just by doing the simple swap out? also, would you have a link to where someone could purchase the updated turbo?
      edit:
      just did some googling and can only find this turbo to fit 2011-2015 ford ranger 3.2L. i am assuming its the same engine in the 2016- current facelift model? is there any documentation to back that up?
      Cheers

    • @TurboDirectSA
      @TurboDirectSA  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nick, the install is bolt out and bolt in - no tuning will result in an increase, however tuning will make this better and obviously yield a higher performance output. Adding the intercooler and exhaust, will increase even more - some have achieved over 200KW to date. The 2011 - 2015 range uses the electronic actuator known as an REA (rotary electronic actuator) and the SREA (simplified rotary electronic actuator) -- the 2016- upwards use something called a UTA (universal turbo actuator - look similar, but are not - ECU and UTA are calibrated to communicate with one another and won't work with the powermac turbo - we have requested for 2019 the release of the powermac turbo with UTA
