Well, that's absolutely great! I've been thinking for a long time about the best way to fix the ruins. Its actuallu the best coastal cottage restoration I've ever seen! Great job! I love this place because of the cave but it is so hard to build here.
Many thanks for the kind words! I had always given up building here due to never being able to sort out the ruins, due to its odd shape and wanting to be able to get some use out of that little cave area. Really happy with what I managed to come up with and thought the rest of the settlement would be easier to work out... The un-scrapable tree and rock clusters, sloping terrain and dense grass cover soon proved that thought wrong 🤣
this repair looks proud, this place is much less gloomy your building is very realistic of the fallout 4 theme i liked all the content thanks for sharing and can't wait to see more
Thanks! Must admit to not being a fan of this place and had more than a few failed attempts at it. Feels good to finally come up with a design that I can say I am happy with, and hoping that others will like what I have managed to come up when they see the finished tour 😅
I'm on ps4 and this place frustrates me to no end. I've only posted one of my builds for Coastal Cottage that my daughter inspired. Yours is awesome 👌! You gave me new inspiration to try again, thank you
I share your frustration with this place and have had quite a few failed attempts at trying to build here… Great to hear you liked the build and that its been able to provide some inspiration 😁
This channel is criminally underrated! Probably gonna binge the build series then tackle my own settlements. Way to keep the settlements immersive by the way!
Thanks! Where possible I try to work with and around a settlements existing structures, although if it was an option to take a bulldoze to a location this would probably be it 😂
Thanks! As I got this location as my Mercer Safehouse in this playthrough I had hoped to turn the cave into a little safe / panic room. Sadly space was a little tight when I started to add furniture but found it also made for a nice secure store room 😁
Many thanks! Due to its odd size this ruin is really awkward to work with, and after more than a few failed attempts really pleased with how it turned out 😁
Oh yes ....third time is a charm...lol glad to see this place get some love. I've always liked the view there along with the Lighthouse...thanks for doing this!! its wonderful
Thanks, I have had this design for the ruins in my head for a while, until now just could not get it to work in game. I agree about the views and also love this settlements location, just a shame it seems to have been designed to be as hostile to builders as possible 🤣
It was interesting watching you build as it reminds me of a time before mods haha, just finding new ways to make place anywhere work for us. Hell, even back to a time when we had to use rug/pillar glitches. LOVE the design C:
Must admit I never had the patience to mess around with the various building glitches, so finding Place Everywhere was a godsend and allowed me to enjoy and focus on trying to improve my building skills. Glad you enjoyed the vid and liked the design, thanks! 👍😁
This was so satisfying to watch and it turned out a thing of beauty. I tend to skip right over Coastal Cottage and write it off as a lost cause, but you've given me some inspiration.
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks! I have had many failed attempts at trying to build here, so felt really good to finally be able to come up with a design I was happy with. It’s almost like this place was designed to mess with builders by creating a really cool location, but then making it extremely frustrating to do anything with 😉🤣.
Nice Job! This, is a tricky location to build at. Watching, you create in this environment/terrain is Interesting and unpredictable! Much, enjoyed all content. Cheers - Jass.
This settlement has also always given me problems, and had quite a few failed attempts building here before coming up with this design. Glad you liked it, thanks!
@@FiddleflapsVids I do. It’s incredible on how you can fabricate a old destroyed house, or like a really bad settlement into like a fortress. But I have an idea you could possibly do. Can you try and make a military base at a large settlement you didn’t do yet?
Thanks for the suggestion 👍. Must admit scrappy little towns and villages are more my style, and feel a military theme would be quite hard to pull off with just the vanilla and DLC pieces - but certainly something to keep in mind. When I get around to Outpost Zimonja I have been toying with the idea of a BOS build, so that would need to have a military base look rather than my usual scrappy villages 😊
@@FiddleflapsVids I do have some mods in mind to help with a military base or an outpost. Do it yourshelf, military clutter, sandbag reinforcements, settlement supplies expanded, buildable barricades and guard posts, OCDecorator, Homemaker-Expanded settlements, thematic and practical, CREAtive clutter, window floor and roof boards, USO base game. You can get a pretty good amount of items you can use for the build later on in the future. Can’t wait for the end products of your builds.
Thanks for the mod suggestions, can see you have picked out some nice ones! Not planning to use mods for this series, as I want to keep them mod free to allow for easier blueprint sharing. I’ll certainly bear them in mind for any possible future modded builds 👍
I think trying to work out what to do with this ruin stumps a lot of people, myself included as this was my third attempt trying to build something here 😅. Glad you liked it!
@Fiddleflaps Vids Im considering trying to place a staircase going into the hole and building around that. Ive narrowed my choices down to County Crossing and this place. Knowing that I can repair the ruin is a great help.
Lol, that’s the easy way out! Admittedly it was a challenge coming up with a design for this oddly shaped ruin, so would not blame anyone for just scrapping it… if I had that option I probably would have also been tempted to do so. 😂
Ok. Ok. Do you know how I struggled with the pillar glitch in repairing those walls? Snip, bang, boom, you do it AND make it look easy. working with the "safe room" under the flooring was ingenious. Going to bed now at 130 am. Will watch the 2nd half tomorrow. :P
Thanks! Even with the aid of Place Everywhere it was quite a struggle coming up design that worked for this odd shaped ruin (this was the third time I had attempted to try and build here 😅), so can only imagine how hard it must be with just using the pillar glitch! Hope you managed to come up with something you were happy with! 👍
I can't believe you have had over 8,000 views and only 232 people have bothered to give this amazing build video a thumb up! (At the date I'm typing this). Come on people, show some love! Edit: AND SUBSCRIBE!
Great build. Been planning a build there myself though I was just gonna cover the hole and scrap the building. I wish we had Place Everywhere on XBox. Place Anywhere is OK but doesn't allow for snapping without collision detection. Having to place manually is a pain.
Thanks - glad you liked it! Must admit I was also tempted to just cover the hole as there’s not much you can really do with its limited space, but seemed a shame to waste a unique feature of the settlement. I was not aware of the limitations of Place Anywhere on XBox, but on the bright side it’s still got to be better than having to mess around with various glitches to try and place stuff 😉
how do you turn of that snap to tingi? i can never build like you man! just wonderfull to watch! hope to see more :) edit; how do you get it too clip? and the moveing it when you are holding it like that?
Great to hear you are enjoying the builds! I am using the Place Everywhere mod which lets me toggle between snapping modes and allows for greater precision when moving objects. Not sure what part of the video you are referencing, if you could provide a timestamp I should hopefully be able to explain what I did 😄
Thanks! The only mod used in this build is Place *Everywhere* everything else is just vanilla and DLC. There is a list of all the mods I am using in this playthrough linked in the video description 👍.
Yes was done on PC and heavily relies on the Place Everywhere mod. I have never been good at using the vanilla building glitches (or had the patience) so no way I would have been able to do this without it.
I like what you did with the hole under the house. I never thought to do that. I just covered it with flooring or a cement foundation. But what would you put in it? And why just move that truck around? And the trailers? There is no reason we shouldn't be able to scrap the truck, trees, couch, other scrap. We can do that at every other location that has them. This is just a big F.U. to the players from the devs who made this place. Is there a mod that will allow us to scrap everything?
Thanks, I used that area as a secure storeroom and can be seen decorated in the finished tour. There are various scrap mods available although I prefer not to use them. Some of the older ones break the games pre-combined mesh system which can lead to some nasty performance drops.
I agree, took me multiple attempts to finally come up with something that I was happy with here. Shame that for such a picturesque spot the games designers seemed to go out of their way to make it so hard to build at! 😓
This vid is a crash course in advanced build order shenanigans. Dude. I can't even. This is phenomenal.
Gotta love those shenanigans, must admit that phrase did pop into my head more than once while building this - really glad you enjoyed it 😊
This cat does some truly amazing shit. My save is modded to the absolute breaking point and my settlements are still an embarrassment next to his!

Never saw the area over the pit as a Garage. The area at the end I thought would be a good "barn" space for those stupid brahmin. :)
Yeah, I love that 'safe room' idea. On one of my builds I put a power generator down there - but next time I'll know what to do!
