They should have ring stations (bristling with guns) in highly developed systems, complete with customs, ATC, and the station keeping the portal open, and non-ring stations you need to open yourself in less-developed systems. The big ring stations look amazing - and are completely appropriate in a major high-tech system.

I think they should scale the cost of jumping between systems by the mass of the ship. As a real-world example, the Suez Canal charges you based on the gross tonnage of your vessel. Little ship pays a little, big ship pays a metric ton.

I like the idea of transient jump points connecting to the main branch. It’s like a tree with roots.
    1. Enter on a transient jump point you know.
    2. Travel in tunnel.
    3. Exit on a transient jump point you know.

Big Ship v Small Ship Debate:
    - For mining/salvage - get the big ship to break up big deposits into little pieces, then get little ships to break up the little pieces into refinable/collectable pieces.
    - For combat - Big ship good against big ship, little ship good against little ship. If a big ship needs 5 players to crew, then 5-6 single seaters should have a fair chance of winning the fight. Agility vs fire power vs defense all should be equally viable strategies.
    Does that seem fair?

01:16:49 I would honestly be totally fine with all of the purchasable ships on the website being essentially "base" versions (even though certain models already have "better" versions you could purchase for a bit more). The reason being that each ship would have models only earnable in-game through rep/progression and I suppose just UEC occasassionally that are better/newer models that do actually perform better in certain areas that you could never completely upgrade to via compnonents in webstore-bought ships. It wouldn't make me made that I could only upgrade my Cutty Black to say, 90% of newer models only earnable in-game that excel in certain regards. It would be cool if those ships also (could) stand out if the owner wanted to show them off too with certain paints only applicable to these ships or something along those lines. I wouldn't have the "feel-bads" because my ship will essentially always be available through insurance (with hopefully increasing premiums paid/time/reputation hit/etc. for repeated claims) since real money was paid for it. Flip side of the same coin, it should be painful to lose the earnable, "newer model" ship to add to the desirability of keeping it safe.

Apart from the entrance to the jump point being potentially problematic to a number of issues, the exit could have choke points monitored for freight of interest, even if arrival is randomised, there will be routed interception points, much likr Stanton.
Whether the interceptions are at arrival or further down the path is irrelevant to the outcome.
Therefore the difference could be down to a ships quantum capacity.
Explorer ships with larger tanks could be the safest option with the highest success rate.

I can see Mike's point on mini metas. Lets say the Caterpillars frame had a 7% boost in scanning diffusion naturally, adding a specific armor offers an additional 8%. However the C2 is already far more aerodynamic so flying it in atmosphere gives it a boost but the same armor used on the Cat without the bonus may only add 6% to the frame. So if you want to pass security scans in a C2 you'll have to use another method like falsifying cargo manifests to cover the 9% to match the Cat for it's built in bonus stats.

They could have a distance/timer. So you get pushed away from jump point without jump drive on/whatever. When you jump through your in that bubble which gives enough distance that you couldn't be engaged and provides enough time and space for multiple groups to jump in.

The Jump point needs a Gate, so what if it's natural? They just found it naturally then built a structure over it

For the first caller ( he was freaking out about how large ships are going to be the only way ) i think this is just another thing that people are going to have to realize.
Bigger ship into pyro --> bigger risk. It absolutely cant be "no downsides". Because the bigger of a target you are, the more people risk taking you out.
That means youll need to secure your line through a system. Youll need escorts as a deterrent or as actual defense, and that defense will be higher cost because they ar emore likely to get into a fight. You sont want some pansy escort if youve got good cargo.
If youre in a small ship with an escort, people wont want to risk a fight as much for a small reward

Some good discussion, but also some rank hypocrisy from Mike criticizing Croncy about taking seriously the question of "How complete is the game?". Mike's response is 5%. Okay, so according to your math we're 12 years in, 5% done, so we're 240 years away from 1.0? Who's not taking the question seriously?

When the game releases, not everyone will just have a C2 or Reclaimer - you have to earn it or pay money for it and I think if someone is willing to pay $200 for that progress, so be it. That is a lot of money.
The current players today are too steeped in what they have now, and its been 12 years. To me its pay to progress. Winning is too subjective. Also these current ships are not the best at this point. There will be epic gear and components. Right now you cant buy railguns, etc. Ships may fall into the same boat. Adding to this you will have to upgrade components if you want to improve your meta to the S tier meta. This is how all MMO's are. Thinking SC will be different is setting yourself up for frustration and disappointment.

I said this on Mike's other video, but why would I EVER finish a jump? I feel like going out early is the easiest way to avoid campers.
A full group agreeing to leave the jump early and meet some random point in the new system.
CIG have provided us a way to avoid the gate camp... the distortion wall.
They said in the ISC that the visuals in the wall of the wormhole will let us know when we are in Pyro. Go through the wall and be NOWHERE near the folks camping the gate.
I will gladly repair rather than face sweaty PVPers

Most likely you’ll either be so far out of the system that you won’t even have enough fuel to get into Pyro
Or it’ll destroy your ship so badly that you won’t have any other choice but to bring a second pair of almost everything including components or be damaged so badly you’ll have no other choice but to be towed to a repair station

This game is not coming out for at least ten more years. And when they do it will be so niche it will flop. They are making everything so complicated and time consuming that it become crazy. Pretty soon you will have to put air in your ship tires do a tune up wash it by hand before you can take off.

the more I look at it the more I dont love the look of the jump point actually. at first i was cool with it but now I keep seeing the jump point as a layering of kinda 2d ish looking elements, yet the game has some really cool 3d blob rendering options they could use so I would like to see a little more sophisticated looking entrance/exit. the interior is kinda ok I mean it should maybe look like a space with no matter in it and light warped around which it kinda does currently/with their concept. anywaays not the biggest issue in the game and it is in work so no problem but just mentioning it. lets see some sucking in gas cloud tech or something idk lol. also curious how it looks from other angles, since It is a 3d object/space but with a front to enter seems like.

Mike you said ISC still left you confused, do you really think CIG could ever fill in all the blanks that you and the community think about after the fact. CIG puts out an ICS and then puts out an ask the Dev. This is the best they can do to try and hit the high expentasions of the community.
