    The AI empire generator assistant was something I wasn't expecting. The races were already cool looking but then I saw the AI thing and it was pretty interesting.

    Given the AI generated Civs, this would be excellent for someone with a Patreon.
    Could have you play against Patrons' factions.

      True, but still the fact that it's doable makes this great for Streamers and the like.@@PraetorianHiJynx

    Who's a good boy! 😄 Sorry--the temptation was just too great--I couldn't pass it up. Seriously, this looks like a good game. I just recently picked it up on Steam and am looking forward to giving it a whirl. The civ generator looks interesting--I'm lookin forward to seeing what the AI has cooked up for me.

      I'm enjoying it so far, nice to play a turn-based when so many of these types of games are real-time.

    Interesting start, I have played 1000's of hours of the previous versions, (II and III), (almost 200 in now), and this one has added many new mechanics while keeping everything version III did so well. Version III was one of the best 4X games I have played and when they finish adding a few more items still missing to IIII, it will be so much better than most other games of this type.
    One thing I like to do is keep all the hexes around the capitial for districts since you get more bonuses. Your generator placed one hex away for the capital will grant its bonus and the capital one to your manifacturing district. The adjacency bonuses can become very powerful. I'm still struggling to figure out the food to pop ratio.
    There are not many military structures so those bonuses are far less important, (mostly crime related). You get many polices later that can control both polution or crime, so buildings are less important early on. You are wasting you policy on something that only matters for ship combat, (and a little bit for surveying).
    My current game is with the amonia life forms, where polution helps growth, and you need no food. The possibilites for customizing races, and the fact populations are now represented by race, (different stats and needs) is some of the best additions to version IIII, (the correct roman way).
    I was happy that you were able to show me something I did not notice, as always a great educator, (you should consider teaching). You should also show the workshop, since there are some nice ship models. One mistake the number of slots for orbital structures does not increase, planet size might be what defines how many, (not certain how that works), but you get 1 to 6 and it will not change, but in one of the recent patches, they added that you could change which ones you use, (they are also important for colony worlds as they add 1 to the output).
    There is always something to do, even in mid to late game.
    Looking forward to more, your comments are so interesting, thanks for this lets play.

      I generally don't like policies that have negatives, so that's why I select the ones that I do. And the number of orbital structures absolutely does increase, I know for a fact that the Individualism cultural perk "Private Property Rights" grants +1 orbital slot. I thought I also saw a tech that granted another slot, but I could be wrong about this one.

      It certainly has some similarities with Stellaris, but also a significant number of differences that result in it feeling like a very different game, in a good way though :)

    I love Stellaris, but always hated how planetary/societal functions seemed rather lacking. This looks promising. Would you say it's more in depth/complex on that front?

    • @PraetorianHiJynx
      @PraetorianHiJynx  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There's certainly more depth to planet management in this game than Stellaris. Stellaris used to have a similar system with planet tiles, but removed it as developers considered it to be too micromanagement heavy.

    I know you meant using AI in an innovative way, but considering everything an AI produces is derivative of what's come before I thought the comment was humorous.

    The GalCiv games have been getting worse with each iteration. Is this one going to be worth buying? Most games have such short refund windows (2 hours) it is getting annoying to have so many sequels (Diablo 4, Age of Wonders 4, Galciv4?, etc.,) that don't seem to hold up over time. Fun for the first day, completely forgettable 2 weeks later. Your critical comments would be helpful.

    • @PraetorianHiJynx
      @PraetorianHiJynx  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I haven't played any of the previous GalCiv games so I couldn't compare this one to those, but I've been enjoying this the fourth iteration.

    • @gameburn178
      @gameburn178 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I love the way you introduce games -- do you edit your playthrus very much? Because you don't stumble or slip up very much. And you don't repeat yourself to distraction either.

    • @PraetorianHiJynx
      @PraetorianHiJynx  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I don't edit out every slip/stumble, but I do edit out many of them to make for a smoother, more coherent experience. But I think the best way to avoid such mistakes, is to take time to think about what you're doing next and then edit it out. So rather than ramble through trying to decide the next tech to research, I might decide off camera and then cut to my selection :)
