Wonder if there was the US president or high ranking US officials to meet the Danish royal family on their visit to New York or just the ambassador? I dont see any US heads accompanying them in their official visits.

They were only a new Crown Prince couple at that point in time. It was basically a business trip. To promote Danish products abroad. Only the Reigning Monarch (= Head of State" ) Queen Margrethe II or the Prime Minister (= the political leader of Denmark ) would have high ranked US politicians receiving them officially. Reading up on it I see, that Margrethe was in the US in 1991 ( received by President George HW Bush). --- On the site where I read that, I also saw, that she stayed at a Trump hotel near Central park. When Trump heard, that a Royal stayed there, he wanted to meet her, but she refused that!!!! --- Maybe that is the REAL reason why Trump called off a State Visit to Denmark in 2019. He is petty like that!!
