I actually emailed Potensic to see if I could borrow one to review on my channel, but they never responded, so I went ahead and bought it myself. My plan was to send it back to Amazon if it wasn't very good, but I was actually blown away with its price to performance.
A much needed video comparison. Wish I had this when deciding. I ended up buying the Potensic because based off video comparisons of the ATOM SE and the mini 2, the ATOM still had better and more vibrant looking footage. Thanks for the content.

I went with Potensic combo wth 3 batteries and case which is just a fantastic deal the video quality is perfect for me and the stills look great, very well made drone

Same here, it's my first drone and I love it. Don't see the point of much more expensive drones for beginners unless you are into photography?
I nearly got sucked into the expensive DJI. My friend has one and he's scared to break it😂
Yes, that is what puts me off a mini 4 pro- breaking it! It looks a lot weaker than the older mini 2 and Atom design. Especially the arms they are long and thin.
I see more detail in the Sony camera. The DJI color can be fixed easily using Microsoft Clipchamp which is free when using 1080 but it does not do 60fps when I last checked.

Both good quality video Robin especially for the money I personally prefer the DJI SE but the Atom isn’t far behind. I’ve just ordered the Mini 3 a refurbished model from DJI £279 12 months warranty I was contemplating the Atom but the sensor size held me back.I love photography so the Mini 3 now has 48 megapixel same has the 3 pro so that swayed it for me love your videos keep them coming.

I've noticed in this and a couple of other comparisons that the DJI Mini 2 SE tends to set the white balance on the cold side, while the Potensic Atom puts it on the warm side.
Agreed but pound for pound or dollar the potensic is a winner i would say agreed?

The Potensic , I dont know about the DJI Mini SE, the colors and everything can be adjusted manually.
Totally shocked at the Atom. Mini 2SE looks to me to have better dynamic range but is it that much better to outweigh the better specs all round on the Atom.
Thanks Robin. As you know this is the comparison I’ve been waiting for from you. Other channels have some comparisons but they all seem to take a DJI fan-boy approach. Don’t forget that the Atom has no geo-fencing either.
Price and features with comparable video suggests that Potensic have more than just a winner here.
Wonder what they’ll do with the next version when they likely increase the sensor size.
Yes, I have noticed a lot of channels are dji fan boys, but I can see where they are coming from as Dji makes such good drones!
Oh I don't know about Canada, but here in the UK, dji have removed all geo locked area's in the last few days, only airport's are showing up now, and they are just Enhanced warning zones! Even on the runways 🫣
As for the Potensic I think it's a great buy at its current price.
Atom 2 pro with a 1 inch sensor that's what I'd like to see 👀 😉
I ordered the Atom - currently £329 on Amazon for the fly more kit. I chose this over the DJI as its almost a £100 cheaper than the DJI, and to me, the video looks a lot more vivid from tbis review alone, so im happy with my choice.
It's a steal at that price £20 more than the dji mini 2 se standard. And we get,
2 extra batteries,
battery charging hub,
Carry case (which is a great bag)
Micro sd card,
Waypoints,
And visual tracking

Well done. There's a lot of interest in the latest Potensic, really the first real competitive drone they have delivered in the Mini Class. As always you cut to the chase, and don't try to put lipstick on the pig, so to speak. That sounds more insuting than intended! It's a decent drone, if one is okay with trading off some video quality for several more autonomous flight modes. I wouldn't personally, but I can understand the draw. The Geofencing issue is legit, though some use cases are affected more than others. I live 7 miles from a huge international Airport, with a half dozen private General Aviation ones scattered nearby and have never had a single flight prevented over 1231 hours, covered 971 miles and... ready for this? 8,551 flights. Not one flight ever prevented by geofencing. Then again, professional drone pilots don't have choices sometimes. As a recreational pilot, I always do
Here in the UK Dji have recently removed all of the geo locked zones. Airports are now only a Enhanced warning zone! Have they been removed in the states?

Great video mate, really good comparison test. Both look great video quality to be honest, but for me I’d go for the dji , not as bright but I think the detail stands out better 👍

She or he will be so happy with the dji 😁
Now I'm not a drone snob, but the Atom SE is a good drone, but it doesn't have a gimbal, so the videos won't look that great.
But I understand that the Atom with the gimbal is more expensive, but if you could stretch your budget to that one, you would be so much happier 😊
The Atom has the edge . Just as good if not better than the Mini2 , but for value the Atom in what you get with the fly more pack and at least £100 cheaper . Thanks for this, was planning on getting the DJI but I'll save money and get as good a drone with the Atom .

The DJI mini 2 se for me every time, the Aton seemed to saturated in the colour and it tended to have a sweet spot in the centre of the lens and a little blurry around the edges and the DJI seemed to be a more natural colour and all round better exposure and would imagine it would be easier to tweek in edit if needed. The Atom does look like a great little drone but its just not on par with DJI for me, great review.👍👍👍👍

More natural it's dji for me Robin.Sounds bias I know as I've two dji's but that's not the reason as I think the potensic looks a great little drone as well! Had one of the earlier models and for the price at the time it wasn't a bad little starter, this one now though looks a real upgrade on that! Another good vid mate!👌

Great review! The DJI dows a better job with the shadows. Probably also does a better job with the low light. But im going with the Potensic... it's surely good enough and I dont need DJI teackingy every move.
Both are good drones for the price I'm happy with both of them. You'll be happy with the Atom and you'll save some money 😄
Great comparison, but for me the DJI wins. The Atom is more vibrant, but that can be fixed in editing. You can't add the better detail of the DJI.

Yes, there is no reason why dji couldn't update the firmware and add it. But they want us to spend more for more features.
Hi, I'm after a drone to film slow moving objects close to the ground, do you know which of these would be better for that please, or are they no good at flying slow? Any other recommendations that are a similar budget please? Good videos btw, cheers
You can fly them both as slow as you want, with the analogue control sticks 👍

Can you compare the video/picture quality with the Fimi x8 v2 mini 2022?
I would, but I don't own a Fimi. They aren't very popular here in the UK
It's almost like the Atom has a warmer filter on the lens. It appears like the videos were taken at different times of the day, with the Atom taken at sunset, and the DJI the middle of the day, with more clouds in the sky. That leads to a question: are there filters available for either of the drones with the different size lenses? Thank you in advance.
They were filmed within 10 mins of each other, but the sun and clouds did change within that time. Currently, you can't get filters for the Atom but you can for the dji mini 2 se.

doesn't the DJI have a function that can be shut down by forces other than you and aren't they prohibited or weren't they prohibited due to potential spyware tech?
Yes, that is a concern. I noticed that you can download the Potensic app from the playstore/apple store- so I would like to think it's trustworthy.
However, the dji app you can't, you have to download the potentialy Dangerous Spyware app as an apk!

I prefer the look of the Atom on full auto
Where do you put your Operator ID on them drones?
On the mini 2 se, it is under the battery door, and on the atom, it's behind the battery as there is a nice flat area to stick it 😁
But from now on, I'm going to stick them on the top, so it's on show in my videos. So that new drone pilots know that they should have an operator id on their drone 👍

I mean, it's all about the sensor size, really. However, the potensic image is very good for the low price its £110 cheaper than the mini 2 se for the flymore kit.
So it's a good option for beginners.
I will keep a tally of the results, so it's 1 nil to the dji so far.

Yes, the Atom has more resolution. However, the mini 2 se surface area of the sensor is almost double! But then the Atom has a faster lens at F2.2 vs F2.8
So they are pretty much on par with one another 🤔

Don't you think if the gimbal on the atom was a little bit more subtle and not just fire down really quickly it would be much easier to make more pro looking video with it
The gimbal on my Atom is solid I don't think I've ever had it kick down yet. My dji mini 2 se gimbal will kick down on most flights.
@@RobinDrones sorry I described it incorrectly, I mean the gimbal rolls down very quickly when you are trying to track something, whereas the mini 4 pro gimbal is as slow or fast as you rotate the adjuster lighter or harder
I don't know what the mini 2 SE is like, maybe the mini 4 pro has more control with it being pro.
Oh I see hopefully they can alter that in a firmware update.
