Pelinal: Killed innocent Khajiit Couldn’t see the difference between a cat and an Elf Killed plenty of semi-innocent Elves Only bedded one guy Lost to a demigod Hrormir, son of Hrorgar, Boon Companion to Darfang the Blade: Knew the difference between Nocturnal and Darfang the Blade, his Boon Companion. Bedded 12 wenches twice each Beat an actual god in wits and in combat.
The bit I like most is the mishap from 03:30 to 03:43 - that and how the characters and music react to it. Hro(r)mir is startled, nervous... embarassed? Darfang the Blade helps him out by sneakily dropping a magic smoke grenade, covering up for the mistake that had happened and introducing the next attempt at delivering this line: The visuals react by ramping up the epicness, while the music drowns the audience's attention in a barrage of drums and the mighty vocals overlay any memory of what had just been heard before. How does this come across? This is a bard duo's performance. Hrormir and Darfang are boastful companions which sing of their alleged adventures, picturing themselves as mighty, witty and covetable to kings and daedric princes alike. When Hrormir, who's doing the main vocals and playing the lute, misdelivers his line, Darfang, doing the drum work and extra vocals, helps him paint a more impressive picture and conceil the error. What we see as the video is how the duo's performance plays out in the audience's minds. Well done, Taschenfilme.
Cant get enough of this damn song!! It’s been over a year now and I still get ear worms of it randomly !! Especially the outtakes in the hall of night. The second “But Hromir was battle ready” goes so hard.
I can't wait to see the end of this. Makes me want to play Oblivion so I can wield the staff of Hrormir Son of Hrorgar and lament that I can never be as great as he, no matter how many Oblivion gates I close.
I genuinely love this! The art is absolutely beautiful, so much character in it, it's like Elder Scrolls crossed with Adventure Time! The parts zoomed in on Hrormir are my favorite! (His expressions are adorable, lol) And the song bro, it's a big bop!
@@taschenfilme1573 I genuienly loved the piece. And it also second-hand upsets me that the bottom of the iceberg is the most original highest effort stuff while the rest just talk (nothing wrong with it but c'mon).
@@AllINAllmusic You mean like not enough people are allowing themselves to explore and divert from already told stories? In any case I know my mind was kind of blocked and the Pelinal Opera and The You are (Not) a god episode really made realize how much is possible and how scared I was do what I enjoy and to tell stories that I wanna tell.
@@taschenfilme1573 anyhow Happy New Year dude! I encourage you to make whatever the fuck you want I think you got a unique approach, you got a cool voice and musical and visual sense. And I guess I get some ego trip out of being able to inspire someone else.
listened to this so often I know the whole song by heart, outtakes and everything no clue what genre this can be called but this song is truly without rival ! also how can an art style look so simple yet so refined at the same time? Bravo!!
I absolutely love this, as I do all lore buffs making excellent animations and music based on some of the best years of Elder Scrolls. I understand that's the universe you want to remain working from, but if you've ever heard of Enderal (Skyrim total conversion mod good enough to have its own steam page) the kind of Kirbride esque storytelling and deep mythos is much more at the centre of lore books and bard tales in that game. If ever you're looking to adapt some material that's a little more niche while still retaining some depth, have a look at Enderal (i'd recommend 'The Vatyrs' story)

This is really good, do more. I love the style of the music and the animation. The off the cuff nature of the vocals genuinely lend to the story, it is good. It makes it feel like some character retelling the story from memory.

@@traversingthedark I used Sketchbook for the Drawings and Da Vinci Resolve for the editing (both free). Now I use Krita (also free) for animation cuz sketchbook is very easy to use, but quite limiting.
You know, now that I think about it, I can really see this as a band of drunken and jolly Nords revelling around a fire, recounting the tale of Hrormir and the icestaff while sharing plenty of good drink.
I've noticed something fascinating... I can't claim to know from which culture it is, but the unusual musical structure/dissonance reminds me of middle eastern music. Is there some sort of validity in my observation?
this sounded like a parody, so i went to go read the actual book. these are the actual book's contents. never change, elder scrolls.
