I'm currently playing my very first playthrough of Oblivion and I'll say that I'm glad I picked Dark Elf because I couldn't imagine the frustration of dying from three scamp fireballs.
It was the same for me. My friend picked High Elf as his first and that -25% fire resistance was fucking him so badly that I just went with the one that's almost immune to it.
I kind of want to see a mod that adds Dagoth Ur in TES4 or TES5 as a quasi-companion where he'd just be a disembodied narrator being weirdly judgy about everything the player does. Freakish, Inigo/Lucien levels of world interaction (possibly with voice lines that interact with those two)
Man, Dagoth and Inigo getting into arguments would be hilarious. A former skooma addict that has adoptive argonian and khajiit parents, but is also a special chosen champion? They'd be coming to blows in no time.
Breton. Atronach Stone. Magic Absorption in alteration tree and an armor spell. Boom. You are now 80%-100% immune to magic (depending on the dice roll) no enchantment slots required.
@D it's mostly just atronach sign being op. Breton magicka bonus is nice but the 50% resist isn't nearly as strong as it sounds - it only really affects a few specific spell types (e.g. elemental damage is unaffected) For minmaxing the actual best race is probably nord or dunmer for their innate resistances. Nord frost immunity means you can throw frost magic around with impunity and spam frost atronachs with 0 risk. Dunmer doesn't have innate fire immunity but it's easy to boost to 100% with constant effect items, and because it's not innate immunity blasting everything with fire usually still does damage while frost has more things that are immune to it
@Ms. Aelanwyr Ilaicos it's different in morrowind. It works like that in oblivion onward (and is like the only way to actually make the game bearable on max difficulty there, as weakness to magic can make your spells and enchants hit very hard) but here it's mostly for stuff like damage x spells which usually aren't that strong from npc's What I'm saying is logic won't save you from this acid trip of a game
Sidenote, I just gave the prompt "Write Dagoth Ur's manifesto "The tyranny of the Gods"" into chatGPT and the result made me wonder if Dagoth Ur actually has its own AI. I am scared, but in a grand and intoxicating way. It began the text by saying "Below is a hypothetical manifesto written from the perspective of Dagoth Ur, titled "The Tyranny of the Gods".", and the entire text mass was filled with intoxicating grandness: The tyranny of the gods has lasted for too long. For millennia, we have been ruled by divine beings who are disconnected from our world and indifferent to our suffering. They have imposed their will upon us, and we have been powerless to resist. But no longer. I, Dagoth Ur, have seen the truth. I have discovered the Heart of Lorkhan, and I have harnessed its power. With this power, I will break the chains of the gods and create a new world, a world where mortals are not subject to the whims of divine beings. The gods claim to be benevolent and just, but their actions tell a different story. They have allowed war, famine, and disease to ravage our world. They have granted immortality to some, while leaving others to suffer and die. They have created a system of worship that favors the powerful and condemns the weak. They have established a hierarchy that values divine blood over mortal flesh. This is not justice. This is not fairness. This is tyranny. But it doesn't have to be this way. The Heart of Lorkhan has shown me a different path. It has revealed to me the power that mortals can wield, the power to shape the world according to our own will. With this power, we can create a society that values all life, that provides for all people, that offers hope to those who have none. The gods will resist, of course. They will see us as a threat to their power, and they will try to stop us. But we are not afraid. We have the power of the Heart, and we have the conviction of our beliefs. We will fight for what is right, for what is just, for what is true. Join me, mortals of Tamriel. Cast off the chains of the gods and embrace your own power. Together, we can create a new world, a world that is free from the tyranny of the divine. A world where mortals can flourish, and where the power of the Heart can be harnessed for the good of all. This is our time, our moment, our destiny. Let us seize it together. (Comment from "Bellow is a..." to the end is entirely written by ChatGPT)

"The tyranny of the Gods" Manifesto by Dagoth Ur Brothers and sisters of the Dunmer, hear me now. We have lived under the shadow of the gods for far too long. They have oppressed us with their false promises of salvation and their empty commands. They have enslaved us with their false religions and their endless wars. But no more. We, the Sleepers, have awakened to the truth. The truth that the gods are nothing but petty tyrants, who seek to control us for their own benefit. They use their power to oppress us, to manipulate us, to bend us to their will. But we will no longer be their pawns. We, the Children of the Sixth House, have found the power to resist. The power to free ourselves from their tyranny. We have tapped into the ancient magic of the Heart of Lorkhan, and we have become gods ourselves. We have transcended the limitations of mortal flesh, and we have embraced our true nature as divine beings. We, the Ash Vampires, have risen from the ashes of our former selves. We have shed our mortal bodies and embraced the power of the Red Mountain. We have become immortal, invincible, and unstoppable. We are the ultimate expression of the power of the gods, and we will not be denied. We, the followers of Dagoth Ur, have found our true calling. We are the chosen ones, the prophets of a new age. We will usher in a new era of prosperity, of enlightenment, of freedom. We will cast off the shackles of the gods and embrace our own destiny. Join us, brothers and sisters, and together we will build a new world. A world where the gods are no longer our masters, but our servants. A world where the power of the Heart of Lorkhan is ours to command. A world where we are truly free."

For example, charlemagne of the franks and widukind of the saxons, also the fact that the anglo-saxon hasn't yet conquered all of england. Most prominently in my opinion is the relationship between the vikings and the islamic world, in the west, al-andalus was raided by the vikings, some of the raid failed and some of the norse converted to islam and became cheese maker, in the east, ibn fadlan became the sole witness of the culture of the rus viking.

Bretons get that Magical resistance thats pretty good. They are pretty generic with the whole medieval royalty vibes but I do like the Direnni = nobility lore.
Breton has always been considered to be the OP'ed race, since at least Morrowind, they were OP in Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim. Oblivion got really bad with how a single item made you literally immune to any spell which doesn't bypass immunity (of which there are only a couple, like Sheogorath's teleport spell).
I've always tended to pick Dunmer in every Elder Scrolls game. They are great mix of magic and warrior skills and their world in Morrowind just blew my mind. My second choice is Argonian. Next Elder Scrolls game should be setted in Black Marsh and based on slave raids that Dunmers take on Argonians. It would be great setting in swamps and deep woods with Dunmer's raid parties chasing slaves all around and Argonian's guerilla resistance.

@@Majima_Nowhere Varieties of Faith in the empire: Malacath (God of Curses): Malacath is the reanimated dung that was Trinimac. A somewhat weak but vengeful Daedra, the Dark Elves say he is also Malak, the god-king of the orcs. He always tests the Dunmer for physical weakness.
The true nature of orcs: When Trinimac was eaten by the Daedroth Prince Boethiah, and transformed in that foul god's insides, the Orcs were transformed as well.
The house of troubles: Malacath is the reanimated dung that was Trinimac,
The changed ones: So one day Boethiah, Prince of Plots, precocious youth, tricked Trinimac to go into his mouth. Boethiah talked like Trinimac for awhile then, and gathered enough people to listen to him. Boethiah showed them the lies of the et'Ada, the Aedra, and told them Trinimac was the biggest liar of all, saying all this with Trinimac's voice! Boethiah told the mass before him the Tri-Angled Truth. He showed them, with Mephala, the rules of Psijic Endeavor. He taught them how to build Houses, and what items they needed to bury in the Corners. He demonstrated the right way to wear their skin. He performed the way to walk to achieve an Exodus. Then Boethiah relieved himself of Trinimac right there on the ground before them to prove all the things he said were the truth. It was easy then for his new people to become the Changed Ones.

Nord frost immunity means you can throw frost magic around with impunity and spam frost atronachs with 0 risk. Sidenote, I just gave the prompt "Write Dagoth Ur's manifesto "The tyranny of the Gods"" into chatGPT and the result made me wonder if Dagoth Ur actually has its own AI. I am scared, but in a grand and intoxicating way. It began the text by saying "Below is a hypothetical manifesto written from the perspective of Dagoth Ur, titled "The Tyranny of the Gods".", and the entire text mass was filled with intoxicating grandness:
The tyranny of the gods has lasted for too long.
Post it you coward.

"The tyranny of the Gods" Manifesto by Dagoth Ur
Brothers and sisters of the Dunmer, hear me now.

@@LazyBuddyBan What are you talking about? Skyrim and Valenwood aren't bordering each other.

…what?
Wait but there are no sword singers still alive, I'm pretty sure it's a forgotten art
modern bethesda writers have no integrity, they'll just put it back and flanderize the living fuck out of it. expect it as a selling point lmao
Does anyone remember the fact that Bethesda made an in universe Retcon device called the godhead
1:30 Dagoth Ur really called Skyrim "Baby's First Elder Scrolls."
out of all of them, skyrim has the least depth and choice in it
@@Winston-lf7sb It's also by far the easiest game in the series.
@@crawlinggoose agreed. its like they went backwards. its a really shiny shallow pond.
morrowind needed speechcraft for instance.
it quite literally opens the game up. it allows for a multitude more options and far more dialogue options that unlock a LOT of stuff.
the soul trap on target spell exploit? thats strongly hinted in necromancer writings and journals found throughout the world.
its truly amazing just how much the game changes with a high personality and speechcraft skills.
flashfoward to skyrim:
speechcraft is literally flavor text options that ALL lead to the same outcomes.
todd howards hand at work. its why oblivion is only half ruined.
it was only half run by todd effectively
@@Winston-lf7sb Skyrim is honestly my least favorite game in the series. Not because I think it's bad, but because I've played it so much that mods are the only thing keeping the game from being boring. Oblivion is my favorite, but I like the way Morrowind factions work, I like the extra mechanics of Daggerfall and how fun it is to just go out and collect loot to sell, and I like how Arena forces you to think how your class is going to affect your playstyle, making the game inherently more repayable so you can try differing playstyles.. Skyrim feels too beginner friendly for any real challenge, and the story is not great at all.
@@Winston-lf7sb Still good fun though
0:32 Oh... the farm tools.
dude, breton was always the choice 50% resist to magic. that makes the boots of blinding speed immediately useful.
Through my experience with elder scrolls lore, especially eso, I've found that I as an ever proud Nord, spend most of my time studying Khajit and Dunmer culture.
This makes house parties a little awkward, but I manage
I had never played Fallout until last year when I was convinced to play New Vegas because of all the memes I kept seeing and the overwhelming praise in the comments. I loved every minute of the 160 hours I’ve played. I feel like I’ve ruined my expectations and should’ve played Fallout 3 & 4 before New Vegas.
I’m getting that feeling again with the explosion of Morrowind memes. I’ve also never played any Elder Scrolls game, but my brother got hooked on Oblivion back when it released and has since put thousands of hours across that, Skyrim, and ESO. But he’s never played Morrowind either. It’s available on Xbox gamepass and I want to know if I should put in the time to thoroughly experience it. The way people talk about it also reminds me of New Vegas fans.
This video was HILARIOUS! I was laughing out loud dude, the writing is on PAR!! Keep making these please 😂
The best part about making spells is knowing that khajit don’t know how to, and it’s important to make spells, so that you can remind cats that they can’t have anything good in life. They’re allowed to have skooma and moon sugar, and fast food fried kwama eggs. Hey, that's a pretty great spell... Not that a cat would know HAHA HAHAHAHAHA
Oh yeah ? Well can you get that sweet sweet easy money by opening an Only Fans to pander to suspiciously rich furries ? That's what I thought.
@@NIHIL_EGO online prostitution and e-begging is very on point for khajiit, who can’t stand honest work.
“Nords - sexiness + incest = orcs”
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I feel overwhelmingly compelled to play dunmer. I don't know why. this was a pretty unbiased guide imo.
the noise he makes when the argonian comes up made me actually laugh out loud
Those lines about argonians tell me Dagoth doesn't remember the oblivion crisis in Black Marsh.
This is actually an amazing way to introduce people to Elder Scrolls Lore thank you daddy Dagoth
The writing on this is pretty stellar. Good job
He's so real about the es6 thing lol
Thanks this really helped me pick my race for my next playthrough in Morrowind.
Most of my Morrowind characters were dunmer. Felt the most fitting for Morrowind (and being the Nerevarine), plus fire resistance in a land dominated by a volcano and lava rivers
4:11 "Big, burly, and brash, they are apparently feared warriors when they're facing people who can't just obliterate them with magic"
lmfao hahaha
worth his weight in divinity lmao
What a grand and intoxicating overview of the inferiority of all the lesser races. You have brought honor to the sixth house this day mortal.
His complete quick disregard for Imperials means he cant even find a counter argument for their power influence and potential. This is my rationalization for Imperials being the best race, but dont worry Dagoth, in my second run I always pick dunmer.
