I just accepted a resource position with 5th graders that will align with my internship to complete my bachelors'.. I begin in 3 weeks & have no idea what to expect. I'm incredibly happy I found your channel :) I look forward to watching your videos frequently for tips & checking back in at the end of the year.

Thank you for your energy and honesty! I am new in the resource room and co-teaching this year. I keep getting new students in the resource room including behavioral issues. So, I am teaching 2nd grade as a co-teacher for language arts and math and I'm pulled out for resource room for 80 minutes per day with 3 first graders and 3 second graders! Trying to make the best of it but so many different goals, modifications/accommodations as well as the general curriculum in not a lot of time!!! I'm looking forward to seeing more of your videos! Patti :)

Thanks! Transitioning from self-contained to resource/collab. This is very helpful!

Hi Ms. D!! Thank you for your great SpEd info!! I just found you and have watched the Tips and Tricks one and can't wait to see more! I have an observation coming up this week and feel overwhelmed that I can have a good result. There have been so many changes, teacher changes, how to do third grade changes, you name it, and new students coming in to SpEd (its my 2nd year teaching)... I teach 1st - 3rd Incl. and Resource.,. I have two 1st graders who come in for math and English. Both are very low, like life skills low, in my estimation. I have one second and four 3rd graders who come in. Of course they all have different goals, needs and levels of ability. I can't really make a group because they aren't even close to the same level though in the same grade. I've done pairing where the highers help the lowers, but is this going to fly with an observation? Then I have a ton of inclusion, to the point I'm doing several kids in three different rooms with three different teachers in the same time frame.Third graders switch teachers three times a day. I don't have the Scope and Sequence or P, so thanks for that tip! I"ve not been able to attend grade level meetings, but now I will ask teachers to send their lesson plans. All five of them! ugh!! Don't know when i'll read them but will have to... So I do have puzzles for the younger kids and about three centers set up for the 3rd graders, but haven't taught them how to use them yet. They are a review of things that will be on their STAAR test, so they can do them, but I feel like there isn't time to get them fluent before my observation. You mentioned that you are open to questions... so I'm hoping you can make any suggestions you think of that could help! Can I put their typewritten IEP goals in like a math or writing notebook, where they can practice the skills daily and we in that way keep better track? How can I make this more independent? I've been studying Whole Brain Teaching (WBT) and am trying to use some of their strategies as well, and the kids love them, but again, its pretty new to them... any help much appreciated!! : ) and thanks again!!

I am new to RSP and coming from being a school librarian. Do you have any tips for learning about IEP’s quickly? This is all new to me.

I'm a Special Education teacher who has been teaching at the high school level. I am now working at the elementary level K-3, and I seriously need help. I want to do a good job, but I was kind of thrown into everything and I never feel like I really have things going as well as I should. I always feel like I'm starting from scratch, or that I really have a good routine in place. I have some, but I'm not sure they're the best. Prior to this I've never done elementary education before. This video has helped me. I need more I'm sure. Whatelse can you recommend?

I feel like gen ed teachers don’t want to work with IEP students. They have high expectations of them like expecting to know the routine… most of the time iep students are way too advance academically. As their peers!

You have no idea. And I have some magical power that makes me a superhero. They see us as a waste of time and pass us. My school even had rankings for our behavior and not the crack snorting other teens. I don't even see the point in that when I'm running under satellites and ground weapons. I especially enjoy the song, "A Bedtime Story" by Madonna. Nothing ever changes because they won't listen, and they know they can do whatever to you. I absorb their lies and sins. It's like, here is predator 5, a repeat offender, and I'm not talking about normal sex. They want to kill me. Of course, so I should study now for what's left of my brain. I kind of want to kick my blue ball for a while. Let's say I don't hide being an opprobrium. I've become a bit defiant while in "heaven." Oh, look, I'm retarded and can't think. I hate the US. Most countries track us and put us on some route, or attempt to. Here, they do whatever they want with confidence. I should tie my legs together, long story, but yeah. Perhaps they should teach us how to hotwire a car, use a crowbar, open doors with credit cards, pick locks of all kinds, how to stay quiet when you climb into a window, escape and hide from the cops so that you can sleep. People will try to kill you constantly. You learn to run faster. America is a fascist nation, and they have fun by making stupid rules up. It's like, you guys did that for a laugh, didn't you?
