  • Wala…. The long overdue Panama Canal Transit video! A pair of Amel Super Maramu’s, Aquarius and Aloha, transit the canal together. Three Amel Super Maramu captains, Ken, Rick, and JP2 aboard Aquarius during the transit! How about that??? (I swear we did not plan on it).
    One small step for mankind, one HUGE step for Aquarius as she finally transits from the Caribbean Sea to the Pacific Ocean! Aquarius finishes the transit on December 31st, 2017 just in time for the fireworks over Panama City!
    Enjoy, and please forgive us for this extremely prolonged quiet time - uploading a video in French Polynesia seems like mission impossible as internet connection is much less than OK.
    Thanks so much for watching 🙏
    Stay tuned as next Friday 12PM EST we release a new video 🎥

    Thanks for sharing your transit guys. That was neat to see all those Amels and their crews in one marina.

      YES! We enjoyed meeting up with all the Amel crews! Trading stories and ideas, and helping with maintenance. Steve, Captain of Aloha is the MAN! Always there to offer a helping hand, or loan a tool! Rick and JP helped Aquarius as well! So much experience, between, and I learned from them.

      On the Amel Dock in La Marin, Martinique there are more than 10 at any given time, also in France I am sure you can find several in one place. But, to see 5 in Shelter Bay Marina in Panama.... That might be a record!

    Great video! I have gone trough the canal many times back in the early 80's when I was working on board tank ships , but always the opposite way.

      I am sure you know the ropes! We were a bit nervous about going through, but it ended up being so easy. Maybe because we had 3 Amel Super Maramu Captains on board. :)

      The ships I was on where from 20 000-30 000 Tons and 160-180 meter long.We used steel wires to the pulling trains or Mules as they called them.
      But I wish I had the opportunity to go trough the canal on my own boat. So fair winds out in the Pacific! :-)

    Hi,
    why do you cover solar panels ? It's something related to canal transit ? ty

    • @SailingAquarius
      @SailingAquarius  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes. They throw hard knots at your boat. We were afraid that they could damage the panels.
