I watch a lot of your youtube videos. I am in the middle of completing a graphic design degree. So watching all your videos I find really helpful - but that last comment about the loss of a Father really resonated with me. Clearly, greatness and compassion run hand in hand. You have a similar outlook on life and death to myself, but the display of humble humanity really got me. You have done yourself proud right there. I found myself humbled. I lost my Father over 13 years ago and try to justify it - I'm great with justifying other's passing, but I've always struggled with my Fathers passing. Recently I have reached out to the local mental health team via my doctor to help me with this. Probably took more courage to do that than most things I've ever done. Just resonated with me is all. Thank you for doing what you do. Don't ever change!!!
Chris Do thank you for your professionalism, honesty, empathy and for being somebody who cares for others and has decided to give something (very valuable!) back!
Wow, tense episode, Chris seems to be a bit pissed about questions xD... I hope you guys have some good good rest. Sending many positive vibes, love the Futur! Thank you for the episode
There is so much wisdom and truth packed into this episode, it should be watched again and again to really meditate on it. Not only for YGs or even designers...if you’re human, you will benefit from this video. Excellence❣️
Take care of yourself. Learn to love you Yourself & appreciate all the give you have offer the world. And from there all good thinks gonna happen. Love it.
Really didn't enjoy Ricky snickering so much in this ep. Especially those moments Chris was firmly giving the ladies advice. Still watching, but the snickering/background laughing dilutes the seriousness of the message sometimes. Said with love Ricky! 👍

so many relatable questions!! I am dealing with all these issues too! This morning I commented in other vid, the same question that Tosin asked, then found out the answer in this video! Yeah, I am always tempted by the money, which is actually not that high, but scared of not having money or project, so I kept taking work but only attract low-paying clients because technically I still need to improve and build a stronger portfolio
Wow. This video is a grail. I received so much value watching this video. Thank you to all the young guns, Chris and the boys. I could’ve used a little less of Ricky’s laughing 😘 Chris dropped some 🔥🔥🔥
I get some things are funny, but regular giggle is quite annoying, I'll admit. Other than that, I simply don't care what Chris is being asked, his answers are always on point. Just seeing the process of getting to an answer, or making a person realise what the answer is, is amazingly educating and I love every minute of it.
Wow. Some compelling and challenging things in here Chris. I chose to go with a company name part inline with one of the Young Guns thinking. 15:23 but also with a vision of scaling and also playfully in creating a new job function. I like that you are pushing us to question certain assumptions. 😀🕺🏽🎥🏖🇦🇺
These vids are the best therapy I know. Thank you Sensei Do for sharing all your wisdom with young, and not so young guns! Long live the Futur. Congrats to the girls too.

When someone is trying to learn and already feel vulnerable, it is inappropriate to constantly laugh, especially during the times in the video when they are being laughed at. Otherwise, great video. THANK YOU.

I love this episode Chris! It’s pretty funny some points you made that are obvious but just like anybody we overthink stuff or sometimes we’re not educated on these simple ideas.
I would add that there is some difference with being a company or just one. They do want to work with me, but I bust a sales price ceiling by saying it was WE and giving frontend design to someone else and I work on the code, they saw the risk as reduced and were more happy to pay x2. So I think when you are not the best at selling being we if you really think you might want to work with other people, it can help. Later when you are better at selling value (or a natural at it) it does not mater. I'm still learning that part, Ive developed and designed for 20 years but only worked on selling for the last 5.
I have experience as a graphic designer but the truth is that I have been working all this time as a low cost gd but nevertheless I been trying to improve my craft since I saw your videos so I think I just wanna say thank you
I know that you might have answered these questions elsewhere before, but consolidating it all in one place is so convenient and hard-hitting. And hosting people like me - insecure overthinkers - helps me to answer these questions honestly. I do have one question though. I am 22 (and a half). You mention that 25 is getting old, starting at 20 is too late to succeed, etc. But can't driven people still be successful even if they start at 25, 35, and so on? Personally, I set out to become a designer 2 years ago, and now I just graduated and am employed full-time after a massive realization and turn around. I like to think I did ok, but not enough. This age idea is really feeding into my self-doubt, so I'm just wondering if it was a joke or if there was a solid reason behind it.
I can answer until Chris sees your comment. Chris said 25 is getting old as a side joke to Ricky. And as far as I have ever heard, Chris has never said it's too late for anyone. You start to succeed when you say you will. What other people are doing should have no effect in how we see ourselves.
its okay Helen i wasted my life playing video games and starting coding at a later age, now I own a company. I do have vivid memories of mindlessly throwing thousands of hours away instead of acquiring more skills. It's never too late to take action
@@MrAwon12 I'm usually able to distinguish jokes from real advice, so when I heard his comment about 20 years old being too late, it really stuck with me. Not hurt, but confusion. Usually Chris has a good reason to say something, but an explanation didn't follow. I'm not sure if it was in a video relating to his kids? Anyway, I obviously work hard now, and I'm just curious to his reasoning. :)
@@thefutur It just seemed like everyone was having more fun in general and the tone was a little lighter than the other advice videos. It was very entertaining.
Where do you work that doesn’t allow you to watch this while working? Assuming you are in the creative field, it’s common to allow employees to listen to music or have something running alongside your day job.

I’d say it’s okay to know your limits. You won’t be able to do everything that comes your way, either due to your specialty limits or lack of having a team. You’ll need to make this clear before your clients contact you. I believe one of the tips in the portfolio review is to list your specialty, no one can own all disciplines, so make it clear and hopefully the work that comes your way will be more geared towards your specialties and skill level. :)
