I believe I read somewhere that dracula is among the most depicted characters from literature. From film and television, to video games and comic books. He is, quite literally, immortal.
This just gave me a great idea and I need to write it here or else I will forget. Imagine that our belief in something gives power. Not even belief but just a representation. The more we acknowledge and present an idea the more it grows and forms. And the power of these figures shifts with their popularity. But while most of these have faded far from their original grace or simply never had a standalone identity one has stayed every present in the public eye since it’s creation, Dracula. The sole bearer of the undead and being immortal both physically and in our very minds as well.

I read "Dracula" by Bram Stoker for fun one summer while attending college and to this day, will argue it is the BEST horror story ever written. From the creative method that the story is told (through journal entries, logs, newspaper articles, documents) telling a chronological story through different viewpoints of characters, to the fact that the titular antagonist of the story is unapologetically evil, immortal and capable of taking many forms, to the various subtle yet deeper themes of the story. @@weststigers8474 We learn of the Demeter in chapters 6, get the rough gist of what happened in chapters 7 and 8. Dracula was published in 1897, 126 years ago. I'm not gonna put up spoiler warnings for a book that's older than half the countries in the world.
Finally, a movie about the Demeter when Dracula was on board killing the crew. I always thought that one small part of the Dracula novel was worth expanding. Edit For example, this short story and prequel to Dracula by Bram Stoker, was originally supposed to be a part of the novel. But Stoker cut it out for some reason. It's about when Harker first arrives in Transylvania during Walpurgisnacht and all the weird and creepy things he sees. And ironically, Dracula had to save him by paying off a group of soldiers. Because he knew that Harker would be stupid enough to not believe in the legends or stories. th-cam.com/video/V6UbOlAJCEg/w-d-xo.html Enjoy, for me this is the best rendition of Dracula's Guest there is on TH-cam. That part was indeed in my book as a prologue. Since the very first pages I knew I would never read something as epic as that book. I read it for the first time during the last days of october when the weather gives you the right mood to be totally invested in a terror story. One of the core memories that will go with me to the after life. I am sure of it.
Now this is an interesting premise to use. How can you escape a predator on your own ship out in the sea with no one else to help you. I am definitely watching this one.
Saw Renfield last night and it was funny seeing another trailer for another Dracula movie, although it does look like it could be a good movie, definitely not gonna be a comedy like Renfield 😂

This is a fantastic idea, Dracula' s journey to England. Finally get to see what happened in full detail on that journey. This looks sick!!!💯 and im here for it.
This looks really good and I'm excited to watch it but I did laugh out loud at the Smashing Pumpkins needledrop. Hope that's just a promo thing and not in the actual movie (love the song but that was a weird tonal shift)
I love how the trailer says, "out at sea with no land in sight." The very next shot we see the ship out at sea with land very much in sight... Great Idea for a movie, though! And damn am I psyched to hear the song, "Bullet with Butterfly Wings," by _The Smashing Pumpkins_ in the trailer. I hope it's actually in the movie!
They were on the ship with Dracula for like a week in the water. If they could of located the issue as dracula, they simply could of dumped the casket overboard. Problem solved
This looks a hell of a lot better than Renfield, plus it's actually somewhat sticking to the source material. The one gripe I have is that this version of Dracula is that he turned into a giant bat like he was in the Gary oldman film, instead of just an old man going around killing people. BUT, I'm sure I'll still enjoy the movie regardless. To be fair, there was the hint that he could take on other shapes, at least in the book (or maybe I'm wrong, I don't remember, it's been a while since I read the book, I'll have to re read it again)
But iirc in the books is also mentioned that he took other shapes. Not talking about the bat and the giant wolf that jump out from the ship but as a creature that crawled over the walls of his castle. Thats how Jonathan Harker described him, no? Well, at least he did not appear old in those descriptions. Also when they(the group) went to the Exeter mansion to look for him and they were received or chased by an army of rats it's mentioned a kind of creature, no? Or am I just having bad memories from the movie? Anyway, I personally kinda like the depiction of a monster/creature lurking in the dark corners of a ship. Also, I bet at some point we will also see him as a gentleman observing everything in the ship, the captain in the Demeter wrote of a gentleman, no? (I need to reread the book right now hehe). Still, there had to be some reason the captain was going totally insane and spoke of horrors(the same happened with the villagers of Transylvania) it couldn't just be an old gentleman kidnapping babies...
The craziest part is by the book. These aren't people he chose to torment. To him the crew is just a bunch of living snacks until he reaches London. And I think that makes this situation even scarier.
Finally!!!! This is the horror tone of the book! Not that romance that was made with Winona Ryder! Been waiting for someone to bring “Dracula” back to horror roots. He never wanted to date you! He wants to eat you! Literally! 😂👏🏻
This was the best Dracula film we'd had in years. Finally someone realized that the king of vampires is a fucking monster and not some damn tragic necrophiliac love story.
So, for a ship to navigate from Romania to London, it should cross the Black sea, the Aegean sea, the Ionian Sea, the Mediterranean sea, it would then enter the Atlantic Ocean and eventually would reach the North Sea after a loooong, long time. A bit odd, innit?
We just seen the movie and in a word, awesome! The vampire is one of the scariest on film and I’ve seen hundreds of horror movies. And the premise of being at sea with nowhere to go is just as frightening. I interpreted the ending to be a set up for a sequel. I’ll be getting the Blue Ray as soon as it comes out.
I LOVE DRACULA STORIES. BUT RARE TO FIND A GREAT ONE, THE PAST DRACULA THE UNTOLD STORY WAS AWESOME HOPE TO HAVE SEQUEL ON THAT ONE. I SAW THIS TODAY AND IT WAS A GREAT MOVIE. HOPE THEY MAKE MORE MOVIES LIKE THIS..
It's based on the portion of the book where he picks off the crew one by one. I believe if I recall correctly he does leave one survivor who lashes himself to the wheel to steer the ship but dies of exhaustion. But appearently the course was steady enought that the ship eventually ran aground in England anyway
Man reminds me of 30 days of night. I really like the take on a feral primal vampire more wolf like pack mentality . Haven't read the comics but I hope there's a more theatrical way they can adapt more of these type of vampires . I know there's a direct to home sequels and it's bad .

Exactly. The bits that we do get from the book about this particular voyage are sparse but still quite harrowing with how little it details. Love to see the ways in which it can be delved deeper into
You say “we” so confidently…. I didn’t know any of that mate, along with a lot of other people - but cheers for spoiling the movie.
@@weststigers8474 We learn of the Demeter in chapters 6, get the rough gist of what happened in chapters 7 and 8. Dracula was published in 1897, 126 years ago. I'm not gonna put up spoiler warnings for a book that's older than half the countries in the world.
“We” don’t know and thanks for the spoilers. 😐
@@dynamicpisces once again, the book is 126 years old. I will not put a spoiler warning up for a book older than half the countries in the world.
Finally, a movie about the Demeter when Dracula was on board killing the crew. I always thought that one small part of the Dracula novel was worth expanding.
Edit
For example, this short story and prequel to Dracula by Bram Stoker, was originally supposed to be a part of the novel.

Enjoy, for me this is the best rendition of Dracula's Guest there is on TH-cam. The narration is superb. As is the sound effects. I listen to it every May Day of every year.
You have great insight 🤔
right? that part felt like a slasher movie. One by one they picked by dracula
@@wintersoldier164 Yes, a Horror movie all unto itself. All culminating in that poor Captain tying himself to the stealing wheel with a cross to ward off Dracula.
@@Cuban20 I will listen to it. I'm actually reading Dracula 📚 right now.
That part was indeed in my book as a prologue.
Since the very first pages I knew I would never read something as epic as that book.
I read it for the first time during the last days of october when the weather gives you the right mood to be totally invested in a terror story. One of the core memories that will go with me to the after life. I am sure of it.
Love vampire movies! Dracula's design looks inspired. Interested to see how this turns out.
At sea, no help for leagues. And the devil has come a calling.
Such a great idea to make the voyage of the Demeter into its own ghost story.
My wife told me about this trailer and I thought how good the idea was before the trailer
It’s because of the “implication” lol.
Now this is an interesting premise to use. How can you escape a predator on your own ship out in the sea with no one else to help you. I am definitely watching this one.
This is so good
The timeline from Bram Stokers Dracula
When he got shipped from his castle to London
Saw Renfield last night and it was funny seeing another trailer for another Dracula movie, although it does look like it could be a good movie, definitely not gonna be a comedy like Renfield 😂
Davos fought Dracula before fighting for Stannis the mannis? Wow the ASOIAF lore runs deep!
I didn't see Dracula movie in my whole life. I will definitely watch this movie with 🍿.😊
Really?? How old are u 12 ?
You need to read the book.
im so curious how this is going to go, because they've introduced more of a main character than the Captain was in the book, as well as a child, and a plan to kill Dracula. but of course in the book, nobody makes it off the ship alive.
I'm thinking they make it off the boat somehow before it's discovered.
I saw this last night when I saw the Boogyman. I was blown away by this trailer! 🧛♂️💯
If you're familiar with Dracula's story, you know everyone's toast.
This is the second time Corey Hawkins has played a doctor
Frankenstein next, please!
Make all the solo movies first then Connect them in the same Universe have them Cross over in movies together ive wanted a Shared Universe movies for years have all of them connected and cross over into each others movies then they need to a MONSTER SQUAD reboot movie same Universe just saying
@@mrexclusiveshow2542 so.. another milking shared universe nonsense.. nice
And the wolf man
i’m obsessed with vamps so i’ll def be watching
This Dracula vs the Wolfman from 2010 would be an interesting rematch for the century if this movie gets expanded upon for a franchise, I love the creature design for Dracula
So Sir Davos shipping Dracula to Kings Landing? 😅
Dracula learns the 'all's clear knock' 😅
No spoilers . I’m glad we got a vampire movie that’s scary
Watching this movie feels like the woman and the black dude are enemies more with the white male crew than with the vampire...
True, it's a very anti white movie
Feel like I saw this in cabinet of curiosities
I never thought DR. DRE 🕺🏿fight’s Dracula 🧛♂️ that’s gangsta
bro i need this movie as an Dracula fan I just love the cinematography and everything about it
All they need to do is to dump the box into the sea during day light
Ovredal is one of best horror director's we've seen in a long time. This looks great.
This is a fantastic idea, Dracula' s journey to England. Finally get to see what happened in full detail on that journey. This looks sick!!!💯 and im here for it.
Except they rewrote the chaper and "f"ed it up.
Very much enjoyed my viewing and will absolutely purchase on bluray. 👍
This looks really good and I'm excited to watch it but I did laugh out loud at the Smashing Pumpkins needledrop. Hope that's just a promo thing and not in the actual movie (love the song but that was a weird tonal shift)
Should've used John Williams's Dracula theme.
i love smashing pumpkins
Omg I read Dracula a few months ago and the part where he's on this ship was one of my favs!! This is gonna b epic!!!!!
Awesome! Im really pumped for this movie!
Dracula Dead and loving it! Now there is a classic!
They were on the ship with Dracula for like a week in the water. If they could of located the issue as dracula, they simply could of dumped the casket overboard. Problem solved
Wrong. That wouldn't kill Dracula. He'd change forms and come right back to the ship and kill everyone
I've been waiting for this for like 10years lol I'm so happy
If Huckleberry gets it, we riot.
Dog worshipper
It would be a hell of a surprise if Luke Evans comes out at the end as Dracula. One could dream but I sure hope to hell it happens.
Maybe it's the same Dracula.
Renfield is meant as satire. This movie is based on a particular passage in the actual Dracula novel.
@@luciamota1249 right like when the Demeter crashed onto the shore, they mention a dog. And that dog being Dracula.
@@luciamota1249 okay I get what you're saying... 😑😑😑😑. I will admit there are some flaws in my comment.
❤🎉 LOVED IT!!!!! EVERYTHING ABOUT IT WAS SATISFYING 😊 ON EVERY LEVEL
Literally! 😂👏🏻
Smashing Pumkins!!!
Just great. Dracula is shown countless times in the trailer, now there’s no real surprise. Blew it.
Wonder why they didn’t sink the ship in the daytime and take lifeboat to shore.
This movie is more scary than the 1992 version of Dracula. If I say this is the most scariest version of Dracula that would not be exaggerating .
This was the best Dracula film we'd had in years. Finally someone realized that the king of vampires is a fucking monster and not some damn tragic necrophiliac love story.
Most anticipated movie of this year!! Awesome trailer!! 🔥🔥
Finally a Good Movie worth watching.
Isn't Dracula reliant on the crew to safely transport him to England?
Or is Dracula a sailor?
It's based on the portion of the book where he picks off the crew one by one. I believe if I recall correctly he does leave one survivor who lashes himself to the wheel to steer the ship but dies of exhaustion. But appearently the course was steady enought that the ship eventually ran aground in England anyway
I feel like this is alot like Dracula the show! It was so good, I wish they'd continue the series! 🖤
This is looks soooo good.
I miss good cinema.
"You dress like a learned man"
Classic Davos 😂
Man reminds me of 30 days of night. I really like the take on a feral primal vampire more wolf like pack mentality . Haven't read the comics but I hope there's a more theatrical way they can adapt more of these type of vampires . I know there's a direct to home sequels and it's bad .
Slipped through the trailer as it shows way to much. Like most these days. Looks great! I’ll check it out tonight
..Guys i watched It last night in Rome: u must go and enjoy It because it's sooo cool 😈 well made 🖤 It gives u shivers 😮 !!!
look's like gonna have PART II .... & i hoppe for that !!
I knew exactly what this was based on as soon as i saw the trailer. I am so excited for this movie, dracula has always held a special place in my heart
Meaby because i been reading Dracula when i first saw this my mind went right away - Dracula..no it can't be..oh my God it is!
As someone whose favorite book is Dracula, this movie is going to be my Joker
It's a mockery of a Romanian tale
