    • @petejansen7220
      @petejansen7220 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      No more tax credit is definitely a factor. Lots to think about! If you can do most of your commute most days on a single charge it may be worth getting the prime. There is something to be said about driving a mouth or 2 with not using any fuel….. or very little! Having said that, depending on your electricity cost in your area could be a factor also. My area cost of electricity to charge my car is about 20 to 25% the price of fuel, depending on the price at the time. Also another big factor is how much more $ for the prime vs. Hybird,especially if in your area there is NO LONGER A TAX CREDIT. For the extra cost of the prime ,how many months,years or miles will it take to pay for the extra cost? How long do you plan to keep the car? To confuse matters even more,there also is more value in a prime vs. Hybird when you trade your car in,another factor you may want to consider. So more cost up front when you buy, but you will recoup some of those costs when you trade it in,because of the higher value of a prime. Time to do some calculations,good luck,safe happy driving!

I'm stuck with public chargers or nothing, cant even run a very long extension cord from the 7th floor down to the covered parking below. I don't think the millions of Condo and apartment dwellers (or even single story duplex dwellers with no garage) are taken into account with this rush to majority EV vs ICE sales in only 9 years.🙄🙈

    We use our older Chevy truck for road trips for camping and hauling our bicycles 🚴🏿.
    Hybrids are great but in our case pure EV wins by a large margin.

    Can you work your spreadsheet magic on this car? I am curious to see how many miles of driving it would take for the Prius Prime's pure electric mode to offset the price difference between the this model and the regular Prius now that we know the cost of each vehicle. Cost of gas and electricity would vary from state to state and even city to city, but you should be able to get a decent approximation. Thanks and keep up the great work!

    Nice car kirk! If you like 1 pedal driving I’m thinking you could place the shifter in regen (“D”) and you should get your 1 pedal driving. I personally think there is a huge efficiency advantage to regen during coasting up to stop signs or lights or someone turning etc. With 1 pedal driving you will still regen but for far less time then coasting. I also find use that shifter whenever you slow down as much as possible for more regen time rather then using the brakes every time. This all will help efficiency huge, plus save on replacing brakes less frequently.

    Thanks for your evaluation! The 2023 Prius Prime is most versatile, efficient, powerful, safe, reliable, and beautiful new plug-in hybrid on the market today. Here is what I will do when I buy mine to improve it further:
    1. Get the Prime XSE, then replace the 19" wheels with 17" wheels for max efficiency.
    2. Professionally remove the unremovable front license plate panel.
    3. Paint the body a cooler color than plain red or plain blue, to dark cherry red, or bronze, or teal blue.
    4. Place a large, bold easter egg sticker "Door handle" on the back door handles so my friends don't get caught outside in a storm trying to find the door handles!
    5. Mount my phone in a vertical charging base, beside the multimedia screen, so I can charge it as I view and tap the phone as I drive.
    6. Paint the interior red stripes to a color that compliments the exterior! Imagine these red stripes with a blue exterior!
    7. Cut off the top 40% of the steering wheel and create a horizontal "D" shaped wheel to allow me to see the heads up display.
    8. Add a pouch behind the drivers seat.
    9. Replace the soft, tweety bird horn with a Tasmanian devilish horn.

    Great review Kirk! Last year I traded in my Honda Accord for a '22 Toyota RAV4 Prime, and though I love the EV range and drive train of the RAV Prime, I miss the driving dynamics and enjoyment of the Accord. How would you compare the Prius Prime to the RAV4 Prime as far as driving dynamics, quietness, and overall refinement go? Wondering if it might be a better fit for me. Thanks.

    Those rear cargo foam pieces are not bolted in. They are clipped in by plastic clips that pop right out of you want to remove them. Just yank up on them & they pop out easily.

    Good job Kirk. Since you are mainly talking about toyota and lexus i wonder if toyota will make camry prime someday? Interesting? Still prefer camry than prius even if no doubt 2023 prius loook good. They make rav4 prime now prius prime why not camry prime. Well just a question for fun because if they make camry prime they can't sell prius prime i think

    This completely shuts down the Model 3 if you're not tracking the car. It makes much more sense for the state of our power grid and you could easily travel cross country without 45 minute power stops. And.......it's a Toyota. Bravo Toyota, well done!

    I'm excited to get this to replace my 2016 Chevy Volt later. That gets 53 EV range officially, so for the past 6+ years I've owned it, I had to fill up the gas tank once a year, the rest of the 53k miles are all 95%+ electric mode. I wonder if the Prius has liquid battery coolong, auto gas maintenance mode (gas should not sit unused for more than a year).

      @anydaynow01 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm in the same boat, 2017 Volt with about 135k km on it and still love it. Like you >95% of those miles are on the battery. Eventually when these end up on the used market I will probably pick a low km one up if the Volt battery doesn't hold up. Though I still have >90% capacity even after all those cycles on it, the temperature conditioned battery really helps the longevity.

    OK, I love the Toyota Prius. I have two. One Hybrid and one plug-in. They are great. Now the new 2023 one is very stylish. However, let's look at what is nor an improvement. First, it's 2 inches lower at the roof. That makes it harder for anyone to get into the vehicle, especially in the back. The screens on my vehicles are large and easy to read (especially the GPS map). The new ones are small and the steering wheel gets in the way. Oh, where is the "heads up" display that I am used to? GONE! Why don't these many videos show how well the new Prius stops to avoid hitting a pedestrian. 5 videos and none demonstrates this. My vehicles stop on a dime by themselves! Is there a problem here?
