I realized something while watching this video: it’s not just the knowledge you have (and share) that’s so helpful, but it’s the way you phrase things that just make it “click”. So many “a-ha” moments because of this. Anyway keep up the great tutorials, the resources you create are amazing.

This was very helpful. I’ve avoided painting in Zbrush…now I shall venture forth.

Random seeing you here Peter. I met you at Danielle's studio years ago. You complimented my many pocketed jacket. I have been a Zbrush user since version .85 in 1999 and have always loved it! It is it's own beast entirely, but a very powerful beast it is!

Didn't know that dynamesh would remove polypaint actually, thanks for the tip! Also surprised you didn't mention sculptors pro with polypaint.

I am working on a model with 'Layers' and I wanted to fill the object in a seperate layer with one color but the 'FillObject' button does not work at all as long as a layer is recording.
Why is that? Is there a special workaround or do I have to paint the whole model by hand?

How do I prevent my sculpt from changing to the paint colour entirely. Every time I paint, or use fill object it changes the colour of my entire model. Please help!

@@LouiseChib if i understand correctly, if the little paintbrush icon next to your subtool is off (which means polypaint > colorize is off) your subtool will be in kind of a "preview" mode, where whatever color or material you have selected will preview on your entire model. Turn that brush icon on, and it should show and maintain your vertex color and material as you paint. Of course, if you use fill object, it will fill your entire (unmasked) object with the selected color if you have rgb turned on (and material if you have m / mrgb selected)

    Hello,
Any tricks to make a gradient with polypainting.
I tried with the DragRect and a degraded alpha, but
    it's not so good.
Maybe a solution with the LazyMouse/Backtrack, but I can't seem to get it to work.
    to find it.
    Thanks for your help.

what bugs me about ZBrush is that they keep all these little glitches that should have been removed long ago. like having to rotate the plane just to clear the painting glitch here, or having to press Ctrl+N to clear the canvas when switching to Edit mode- it's all weirdly unintuitive. these things are super small and otherwise no big deal in the broad scheme of things, but when you're trying to learn a program, they all just stop the momentum right at the start. I would assume clearing the canvas would be a visible button in plain sight, but they throw in Ctrl+N like it's a command we're supposed to already know. could that not have been something that's automatically applied when switching to edit mode? I might vaguely remember someone explaining there being a reason for it, but it seems to be a relatively rare case and should be a preference setting instead
