Fishing a Meandering Idaho Creek with the Kokoro 360 Tenkara Rod
มุมมอง 894หลายเดือนก่อน
This creek is a new to me creek this year. I had fished it earlier in the year in a lower section and had a lot of fun, so I explored higher up this time. Caught some nice browns and cutthroat trout, the NIRVANA Kokoro rod was a hoot for these fish.
Bike Fishing an Idaho Creek with the NIRVANA Kokoro 360 Tenkara Rod 8-16-2024

Decided to get my pedal assist bike out for a ride up one of my favorite creeks to do some Tenkara fishing. Had a great time and will have to do this again some time. Also, this was my first time fishing the production run NIRVANA Kokoro 360 Tenkara Rod and it was even better than the prototype, so stoked to have this rod in our lineup.
Tenkara Fishing With Tom Davis & Matt Sment, I was fishing with the IceWING & Ragnarok 400 rods
มุมมอง 7254 หลายเดือนก่อน
Unfortunately I apparently such and recording when I am fishing with other people, too busy jabbering and watching. So I didn't really get good video while I was fishing with Matt and Tom so most of this video is when I was going down a stretch of creek by myself, sorry about that. Had a lot of fun fishing the prototype IceWING rod again, I found myself actually using the zoom function quite a ...

มุมมอง 1.4K4 หลายเดือนก่อน
Had some fun with the DRAGONtail Ragnarok 400 tenkara rod at one of my favorite creek systems in Idaho. The water was still a bit higher than normal, about 6 inches higher, but still managed to find some great trout, some of the bigger cutthroat I have caught in this creek. #fishing #tenkara #tenkarafishing #dragontailtenkara #flyfishing #idaho #idahofishing #idahoflyfishing #tetontenkara #cree...
Tenkara Fishing an Idaho border creek with the DRAGONtail Ragnarok 400 Rod 7-1-2024
มุมมอง 1.1K4 หลายเดือนก่อน
Tom Davis found a new creek to fish that he liked and was kind enough to take me back with him to explore it some more. It was during a cold front in early summer so the fishing was not hot but good enough with some great fish to be caught. I was fishing the DRAGONtail Ragnarok 400 Tenkara Rod which was excellent for this creek. I was also using a 12.5ft Shogun furled line which helped to cast ...
Sour Apple Leech Fly Pattern
มุมมอง 3815 หลายเดือนก่อน
Materials List: dragontailtenkara.com/blogs/tenkara/sour-apple-leech-fly-tying-pattern Not a really a tenkara fly but this leech pattern works awesome with a tenkara rod's ability to control the drift and slightly manipulate the fly if needed. This leech is a small enough to cast reasonably with a tenkara rod as well, great for those deeper runs that hold medium to larger trout. I use it on sma...
Ichiban Kebari - Tenkara Fly Tying Pattern
มุมมอง 7525 หลายเดือนก่อน
Jason Klass (of TenkaraTalk) is the original creator of the Ichiban Kebari based off of the Takayama Sakasa Kebari with its two glass beads added at the head that give it an almost bubble like affect that make it a sweet looking sakasa tenkara fly that I love to tie. I like to add ribbing but the original does not have the ribbing. Find the recipe for the pattern here: dragontailtenkara.com/blo...

This looks super buggy! Definitely a fish catcher
Nice video, Brent. Thanks for sharing it! Minor point: the description should say Ragnarok, not Ranarok.
Thanks, got that misspelling fixed
When will the Rod HYDRA zx390 Tenkara Rod be back on sale?
Where?
What whip finisher do you use? It looks like it works miles better than the one I’m using.
It is the Stonfo whip finisher, I love it. dragontailtenkara.com/products/stonfo-whip-finisher
Yeeeeee!
I definitely see a need for one of these to compliment my Foxfire!
Man do you have 40ft line
It was a 20ft line, the action cameral makes it look twice as long as it is. It is still longer than I use now, I would probably switch to a 16ft line for this river now days.
@DRAGONtailTenkara nice fish
What a great little creek! Thanks for filming.
Nice video and beautiful stream. Decent sized fish for the Kokoro rod for sure. That had to be fun. Keep em coming! Neil
Caught 3 fish on your warbird today!
Since we made that fly available to purchase, I have been getting lots of emails and messages telling me how great it is working for them. It is awesome to see that it works everywhere for everyone and not just me here in Idaho. Thanks for sharing.
Can’t believe it’s the end of the season already :( The Kokoro really helped make a great season of tenkara! Excited to try the icewing later this year
Excellent! It’s nice to see how that water fishes late in the season.
I did have some long stretches that the fishing was terrible but then it would turn on for about 20 minutes and turn off again for an hour.
The fishing video and how you treated the fish were so good. Thank you!
Thanks. I like to see and hold the fish but I try and land them quick and keep them in the water most of the time so they still have a great chance of survival.
bitin and fightn.
What pants and boots are you wearing? Seem to be waders, but super lightweight! What a great creek!
They are actually just quick dry light weight pants, I love these for wet wading. The boots are Korkers Chrome Lite boots with the XTRA-Bite screw in cleats added, I have really liked using these boots this year.
@@DRAGONtailTenkara those boots look great, thanks for the reply. Would you also wear them over waders in the colder seasons?
@@benklocek I do wear with them with waders and they seem to work great. When I wet wade I do wear neoprene socks with them.
Brent Beautiful action on the Kokoro. Incredible size Browns and Cutthroat, the Dragontail Kokoro was able to manage those 17 - 18" trout well and the rod was definately not under gunned !!!! SWEET INDEED! Thank you.
Thank you for teaching me how to connect a level line on to a Lilian.
Nice, I think I like a little bit stiffer on this rod, but will get the add ons, rod 3 coming up thanks Brent
Hey, nice video. Nice rod & nice creek too! I do a little bike fishing, but I'm a luddite and still use a 24 speed MTB. It's slow up hills but I keep ratcheting down the gears and try to keep my cadence around an easy 70-80 to avoid straining my quads. And at my age I don't like to go fast downhill either. Cycling with wading boots feels awkward so if I'm travelling any distance or up a long hill I use trail runners to ride with and secure the boots in a basket on a rear rack.
Nice fish
Gonna need them GPS coordinates yo.
Nice video! You’re not supposed to breathe hard w/an E-bike! Now I wish all y’all all would stop showing how sweet an action the Kokoro rod is. Just what I “NEED”! Another rod! Neil
Brent, thanks for taking the time to make this video (it is great) and for making such great rods.
Yes, that first fish was nice. Funny, i am looking at a buddies pedal assist bike, he has upgraded. Lastly, and I am not asking for details, but just wanted to mention that I pray Tom Davis is okay. I know what a great friend of DRAGONtail he is. Just wanted to mention it given the way he stopped posting.
Yep Mr DAVIS IS THE BEST TEACHER tenkara OUT THERE..
Great video Brent! I'm a diehard fan of Dragontail! The Foxfire has become my absolute favorite for the tiny Southern Idaho creeks that I frequent! I mainly catch native Redbands with a few brookies and browns mixed in. I'll need to plan a trip out your way sometime and get on those nice cutties! I always recommend Dragontail to friends and people I meet that want to get into Tenkara! Thanks for all that you do!
Tenkara + bike is a match made in heaven.
1st,biggest,and the most, great looking stream, what gold bead head fly?
Do tie knot on lilliam
I just use my old floating fly line and cut it to various lengths - works great - i attach it to the lilian with a short piece of flyline Backing (nail knot) - and also have a short piece of backing (nail knot ) - with a tippet ring to attach my tippet -
This is something we have seen people do quite bit, I like the idea of a short piece of backing at the end with a tippet ring tied on. The Light PVC Tenkara Line we sell will be a bit lighter than the running line from old fly lines if you would like something similar but lighter.
Красавица❤❤❤❤❤ 🇧🇬
Impressive fishing downstream.
Cool video guys !
I'm suspending all rod purchases until the icewing comes out. I'm frothing at the mouth!
Brent, you are living the life man. May it always continue to be so.
Cool is that icewing triple zoom? Replacement for Mizuchi? That’s a great creek you are fishing
It is a triple zoom but it won't replace the Mizuchi, the IceWING is a full flex soft action rod.
Icewing looks good. Love seeing content with you three! Looks like with Kokoro released your R&D is going straight to this rod. Great video.
WHERE???
Wyoming and Idaho.
I'm Japanese. Thank you for enjoy traditional Japanese fishing.
What a fish ! Petry !👍
Really awesome 🤩
Damn that is a sweet lookin creek.
I have a few of these rods. The Ragnorak 400 is by far my favorite.
Very nice fly. Well done.
Nice fish
Nice stream. Wearing headphones and hearing those flies I was wanting to swat my neck. What was your setup...level line? Length? Tippet length? Looks like you were reaching out there pretty good.
Awesome video Brent, please keep them coming. When and if the new prototype line keepers become available from Dragontail, please put them in the newsletter to let people know they are available. I use the O-ring style line keepers and I like them, but the current design using only one O-ring tend to slip allowing the line to come loose.
Oh man what a shock and awe location Brent. You have some special waters no doubt and no wonder why you love 400cm rods.
Fun video! Seems like you mentioned in an earlier video a knee or ankle problem? That “battle” with the cutty in the fast water was a set up for a slip & a fall huh? I’ll be out of this Texas 100 degree heat in a couple weeks standing in a Rocky Mt stream like you “blessed people”! Keep up the entertaining & informative videos & well keep “liking and subscribing”! Neil
The ankle has been fairly good lately but I had the new Korkers sticky bottom boots with spikes and they have handled really good, been liking those boots for hiking as well.
I actually got the Korkers All Axis wading shoes with the replaceable Vibrant Studded soles. Not the ankle support you’re probably looking for but great traction for wet wading. Not bad for traveling out of the water also. Again, cool video! Neil
those trout look better than the ones over here, beautiful!
Nice work Brent. Beautiful stream, and you seem to have a knack for catching the tanks. That downstream whitewater landing was masterful. Thanks for sharing!
