Hi Paul Sounds wrong to me, best send it back or get it replaced. Can you try it in another loco first, anything 8 pin should confirm its the chip. Cheers Paul
Dunge Wood Model Railway hi Paul for the price of it it's the second one now I'll just order a new one it I trade them cvs this morning and they worked loco runs better than it ever has just got to do the other tts chips took me a long time on how to work it all out not sure how I did it though lol
Probably best, if the amplifies has gone it cannot be fixed. To confirm it is the amplifier are you able to change the speaker, there is a coil around the speaker, if that fails you can get similar issues? You will need a 4 or 8ohm speaker. Can you take it back to the shop you bought it from?
Hi, I had exactly the same with a TTS 37 decoder. Thought it was my fault as I had wrapped it in tape and it got really hot. Did you wrap yours? So I binned mine in the end. I'd also fitted an iPhone speaker so I assumed the warranty was invalid anyway. Sorry can't help you but will follow this with interest in case it happens to a future one.
cravensdmufan yes i did wrap mine and thats where mine is going ill just use double-sided form tape Don't Cost a penny get it from work I did cut the speaker wire plus its not that bad as a price but its the second one ive had in my bachmann 66 maybe stop nope lol
If it was mine I would just buy a new TTS decoder and fit it. They are cheap enough especially when you take into account taking/sending stuff back, phone calls, waiting etc. It’s annoying yes but it’s an easy fix.
BRENTLEA JUNCTION maybe it’s just me but I get stressed out sending things off/back. I very rarely get an email or text (both included in packaging) to say the item has arrived, even after I send requests for confirmation. Sometimes the phone will be answered, if not then alarm bells start going off in my head. The same thing happens when it gets sent back. I might get a text or something to say it will be posted ‘tomorrow’, a week later it’s still not turned up, more texts, emails and attempted phone calls follow.... eventually I find out it will be posted ‘that day’. Look, I accept people are busy but a bit of customer service would stop a lot of stress. So if I can fix something myself I will, especially if it only costs a bit more but saves me a lot of time and stress.
Modern WCML Crewe only thing is the wire got caught when I was putting the body back on so have to solder it back together but it was working fine 6 months later and it's starting to do this

Send it back!
I think the amplifier is faulty, which would give out those sounds.

timsytanker i feel the same
Possibly the speaker has to low a amperage and is damaging the decoder amplifier. Keith
