Bx opto is the most universal. You can adjust the speed of transients. Bx opto is instead of 3 versions of UAD LA-2A with different attacks. Original LA-2A is not very suitable for drums; but bx opto is perfect for any instruments: vocal, drums, bass, guitars, etc.
I liked UAD silver, gray sounds darker, I also liked Waves CLA-LA, T Racks white sounded more like LALA but I prefer LALA, I can't believe how good LALA is. I think for this guitar I liked more the UAD silver
UAD LA2A Grey sounded just right on both to me. It clamps but preserves the transient and controls the release to keep the source nicely in place in the centre of the mix. Not too thin and not too thick and with that sheen that just sounds like a record. A few other honourable mentions; UAD original, BX Opto, Black Rooster, NI, and Analog Obsession all have something I liked but I’d have team with another comp or EQ or saturation plugin to get what the UAD Grey is doing.
@@eduardohoudin4432 maybe it's not closest to the original Teletronix, nut bx_Opto is very underrated plugin, that has super power and Sound. What it does on snares... is magic.
I don't know... the difference between all these are probably the same as the difference between the real HW units if you would put them side by side. Meaning all of these are just fine, if you need this exact tool for the job.
@@HasanDelenHomeStudio Overloud sounds good, plugin alliance too,but i would like your opinion about wich has best sound and recreates better the original unit. Thanks
Waves sound muddy drowning the guitar plucking , i like uad la2a very transparent still has a color and lala but crunchier and more front but in some points i dont want that crunchy too much but for free i go to that
I am inclined to say that in a level matched double-blind A/B test, the most trained ear could not differentiate any of these from the others with the music/vocals presented in this comparison. If you hear a difference, it is all in your head.
I think on the vocals I heard some difference in the HF. I liked that some of them (UAD and Overload) had that presence... not sure if they are more or less accurate models. But what I liked even more was that the Analog Obsessions one sounds just as good to me and is FREE :D But I'm inclined to agree with you. They are all very good, and usable, and any small differences that I was hearing could be made up for with an EQ shelf so really who cares!
Maybe Im wrong, but it seems like Waves plugins allways are really bad on the low end, it allways sound thin and cold. I think the "compression" work on the Waves 2A its really nice, but the "analog emulation" sucks......
The UAD Silver is the only one that sounds much like an actual LA2A. The Grey would be the second closest. It's unfortunate there are no quality LA2A's outside of the UAD ecosystem. It's the hardware I comp I use the most. The BX Opto has an interesting tone in the low end but not at all like an LA2A.
Yeah, I don't know how informative is this test, I feel like that these don't react the same to the same volume level, you can hear more compression on the CA2A and the AO, allthough the differences are minimal. From my testing I've found out that you have to push other plugins way more for them to start working, and on most of these tests no-one goes trough the SC filter which is IMO the point of this unit and some of these plugins don't even have that option..... Another point here is the 2 settings that the unit is famous for, that's the difference between the ''compressor'' and the ''limiter'' mode which is not an option on all of these. Also, testing plugins in their ''sweet spot'' will result in minimal differences and is pointless, from what I tested, all of these start sounding way more different when you go out of the ''-3db reduction at -6db input volume'' which makes some of them completely useless and also makes the CA2A or the AO versions so popular.

When you realize you literally can not hear an opto compressor sound.
Thank you, man, its awesome!
the cakewalk surprised me. i like how it flows
Thank you for your comments 🙏
Can you even buy this anymore? I went to their sight and it appears it’s no longer available :(
@@mrnelsonius5631 at this point? just crack it, that's the only way to get hold of it sadly, I'd happily pay though.

@@HasanDelenHomeStudio Closest to the sound and character of the Teletronix is the Brainworxs opto!! Exelent comparison!!

For me the 1st is UAD LA2A Grey
2nd Cakewalk LA2A (it's so good)
3rd Waves CLA2A
Cakewalk ftw
Cakewalk - CA-2A for free now?

guess your monitoring is off
trained ears can. When you work everyday with some gear you know it from the first sound.

brainworx opto😅 better
UAD&Vc2A👍

I wonder if the setting of the hi freq / flag knob impacts. Theyve left it at default. I usually use mine at flat

I didn't watch the video while doing my own thing. I listened to the guitar and did not hear the difference.
