The opening scene to Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End was so hugely impactful, and their take on this song held true to that impact. So glad you found this one, as it is at least my 2nd or 3rd favorite Voiceplay cover.
Layne and Geoff, the two tall guys, invariably sit on the same level, while the shorter guys line up behind or in front. Also being the bass and percussion they are the bones of the thing. Jose is taller of course, but Eli and Cesar are not so tall. This is not their Halloween piece, they've just released Friends on the Other Side, another Disney one, and J.None makes a welcome return visit to guest in it. Also Geoff has done The Monster Mash which is a hoot. Eli does indeed have a rock voice, and he sang with rock bands when younger.. He can really let rip. Oh and Geoff achieves a B0 in their version of the theme from HALO. Yep. He does.. Jose appears with them in My Mother Told Me.
I just have to say how much I appreciate that while you do pause and react vocally sometimes, you also add in the little caption bubbles so you can express what you were thinking while you were listening. The combination of these techniques leads to a more satisfying experience as a viewer. I am so excited to see you react to this amazing track. 👻

I like he made it his own and added the minions dancing in made it more fun for me and that drac. voice LMAO classic. BUT the most awesome part those small and brief he actually included his wife in one of his masterpieces! to me that is fricken awesome. Also I love his basement notes when it missiles through the floor but in this he refrained from over doing it (like he could) but made them more subtle.
I love your reactions. You don’t just listen - you feel the music. And this isn’t even their Halloween video. They just released Friends on the Other Side, featuring J None (yes, here’s back for a short visit just to confuse you!) This beautiful arrangement is Geoff’s and I think it’s one of his best. He knows just how to make each person shine. Eli does the lighting, keying it to the vocals so every shot has consistently beautiful effects. And something no one notices, but shows how committed they are to their parts - they are all sporting VP scars. (Evidentially pirates who were caught but not executed were branded with a ‘P’.). Only three can be seen in the video. Geoff’s is on his right forearm and Layne and Eli’s are on the back of their left hands. But they all have them! You also may want to check out Geoff’s new version of Monster Mash. It’s so much fun. I can’t stop giggling when I watch it. (And I’m much too old to giggle!)
This is probably sacrilege to you, but it almost seems like a very short opera to me. The drama, the richness and voice control, the evoking of emotion (!) and setting a mood. It is one of my favorites to both watch and listen too.
Yeah, Geoff did some amazing stuff on this one! A lot of subharmonic F1's Amazing jump F2-F4 In the last section nice slide C2-G#1 (chest)- F1 subharmonic Eli enjoying the character like always, hitting some juicy C5's for us with his rock tenor voice. Lmao, so listening to the video while driving. Lol and my 3 year old is in the back singing along with Voiceplay. Lmao. But I use to sing "Houst the Colors" as a lullaby.
One of those things I just noticed and really enjoy is the odd interplay between Geoff and Caesar, especially in the "third verse" where Caesar does a nice slide down during "Bones" as Geoff tags in with his "never shall we die" 2-octave slide up. Really excellent contrast in sound
It was cool how one would start a line and another would finish. Caesar and Eli especially. Caesar puffed up to sing the word high but Eli actually sang it.
OK, now I’ve watched this so many times I’m starting to notice the (teeny tiny, insignificant) continuity issues. I just love this cover. And yeah, Geoff always blows my mind first with those low notes and his wonderful voice, but Eli kills me with his acting and I love the way he can color his voice to fit his character. Layne is no slouch as an actor either-I love the crazy “I kill you now” look in his eyes. Cesar is an awesome addition and he’s been really quick to fold into the group. Gorgeous baritone! And I want them to kidnap Jose and keep him. He’s such a great addition to the group-and yeah, I’d love to see them feature him in a song where I get to hear more of his singing. The version you heard on tiktok is a version by Colm McGuiness, hes a newer vocalist in the acapella scene, and he's absolutely fantastic. An incredible range

Holy reactions Batman! all jokes aside, I liked this reaction video. This was my first time hearing the song as well, I'll definitely have to listen to it again on its own later to form my own opinion on it. And I have to admit, I'm jealous of you and all these other folks that you react to. You all can sing. The last time I tried singing I hurt myself. and that was just singing along with the radio in the car. I'm not entirely sure how deep my voice is on a register, or how high. Great video Maggie, this song is incredible, love the second parto of the song, when they create some symphony between Caesar and the others, when the others are singing like 2-3 different songs at the same time with a bit quieter voice, this makes incredible effect as the whole song! Also would love to mention how long Geoff was singing last note :)

The song is amazing, espiecially these vocal harmonies between 3 Geoffs at the beginning and later one like 2 times + D1 is I think the lowest note on his channel (in case of music production, not sure about Q&A :D). Great as always, after the song I would love to remind myself how the Fur Elise I was playing like 10 years ago haha I would love you to react newest Epica: Kingdom of Heaven, I think you may love it! The composition is incredible, the video is extraordinary + it is a different musical edit than on official disk so it makes it almost another song, love it :)
This was such a masterpiece by voiceplay. Oddly my initial reaction was not favourable. But my friend pointed out some interesting tidbits and every rewatch is making me like it more. Jose Rosario, Jr, is the man who started out the song. He was also the featured singer in Voiceplay’s cover of “My Mother Told Me”. The young man with the cloudy right eye is the newest member of VOICEPLAY, Cesar De La Rosa. He replaces J None, who left recently. (He was the African-American tenor)… this song is from ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End”…VOICEPLAY is still down one member. Founding member Earl Elkins left in July. That’s why they asked Jose to sing this with them!

If you want more Jose, he did another song with them, "My Mother Told Me." These are absolutely two of their greatest pieces ever, and Jose just has a magic way of filling out their sound that elevates them to a whole different level.
MURRAY! The demonic talking skull! Sorry, had to throw a Monkey Island reference in there XD Love the video as always, Maggie. Yes, the group has gone through a _lot_ of turnover (relatively) recently. Earl left about a year and a half ago (which still breaks my heart), and JNone just left the group to join the US Navy Choir... thooooough, just today, they dropped a video with him as a guest singer, playing Dr. Facilier, singing Friends on the Other Side. They had some real fun with it, and the job they did on the costumes was fantastic. Cesar joined the group full time just a short while after JNone's departure, and I'm really happy with him in the group. They _say_ that he fits with their "brand of dumb" in the welcome video, but I honestly rate it more as their brand of lighthearted fun. Every moment that they're on camera... you just feel that they are enjoying the living daylights out of being able to do this kind of work, and it really helps to bring you along with it. It's part of why I don't care for Pentatonix these days... their vibe is "so intense about the music that it hurts"... and that's just not a vibe I care for. I like Jose's vibe with the group... like, he kinda feels like the captain of this motley crew, and he just kind of fits in my opinion. The other song he's showcased in is their cover of My Mother Told Me, though he's also been in several shorts with VoicePlay - including "That's what friends are for" from Disney's The Jungle Book. Either way, even if it isn't Geoff's latest song, I've got to put in for Geoff's House of the Rising Sun. Oh, don't get me wrong, his Monster Mash is a lot of fun, too, but House of the Rising Sun just... it seems to be designed to destroy reactors. Like, in the first two reactions I saw, the reactor legitimately got up and walked away from the camera for a moment. Just completely ghosted us XD 👻

Jose very much adds the depth and richness to Caesar and Eli's parts. In Hoist the Colors, his inclusion is far more subdued than in My Mother Told Me where he played a more pivotal role. That being said, I can't wait to see you do Friends on the Other Side, which in and of itself is just AMAZING since it has Caesar AND J None and it's freaky how sharp every note is

If you want to have your brain short-circuit even more do a reaction to their cover of the Halo theme featuring Scott Porter. Geoff officially goes way beyond Tim of Home Free with the subharmonics. I mean he literally hits the bottom of the Mariana Trench. Completely earth-shattering. I'd love to see your reaction to it. It was cool how one would start a line and another would finish. Caesar and Eli especially. Caesar puffed up to sing the word high but Eli actually sang it.
OK, now I’ve watched this so many times I’m starting to notice the (teeny tiny, insignificant) continuity issues. I just love this cover. And yeah, Geoff always blows my mind first with those low notes and his wonderful voice, but Eli kills me with his acting and I love the way he can color his voice to fit his character. Layne is no slouch as an actor either-I love the crazy “I kill you now” look in his eyes. Cesar is an awesome addition and he’s been really quick to fold into the group. Gorgeous baritone! And I want them to kidnap Jose and keep him. He’s such a great addition to the group-and yeah, I’d love to see them feature him in a song where I get to hear more of his singing. Anyway, great reaction! Have you done Dimash’s Stranger yet?

Holy reactions Batman! all jokes aside, I liked this reaction video. This was my first time hearing the song as well, I'll definitely have to listen to it again on its own later to form my own opinion on it. And I have to admit, I'm jealous of you and all these other folks that you react to. You all can sing. The last time I tried singing I hurt myself. and that was just singing along with the radio in the car. I'm not entirely sure how deep my voice is on a register, or how high. I'd love to find out though. And I'm still willing to learn.

Great video Maggie, this song is incredible, love the second parto of the song, when they create some symphony between Caesar and the others, when the others are singing like 2-3 different songs at the same time with a bit quieter voice, this makes incredible effect as the whole song! Also would love to mention how long Geoff was singing last note :)

This was such a masterpiece by voiceplay. Oddly my initial reaction was not favourable. But my friend pointed out some interesting tidbits and every rewatch is making me like it more. They are so incredible. Ceasar also really impressed me here. His voice is adding a wonderful color to the rendition that I truly enjoyed. As always Maggie, love watching your reactions :D

Jose Rosario, Jr, is the man who started out the song. He was also the featured singer in Voiceplay’s cover of “My Mother Told Me”. The young man with the cloudy right eye is the newest member of VOICEPLAY, Cesar De La Rosa. He replaces J None, who left recently. (He was the African-American tenor)… this song is from ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End”…VOICEPLAY is still down one member. Founding member Earl Elkins left in July. That’s why they asked Jose to sing this with them!

If you want more Jose, he did another song with them, "My Mother Told Me." These are absolutely two of their greatest pieces ever, and Jose just has a magic way of filling out their sound that elevates them to a whole different level.
MURRAY! The demonic talking skull! Sorry, had to throw a Monkey Island reference in there XD Love the video as always, Maggie. Yes, the group has gone through a _lot_ of turnover (relatively) recently. Earl left about a year and a half ago (which still breaks my heart), and JNone just left the group to join the US Navy Choir... thooooough, just today, they dropped a video with him as a guest singer, playing Dr. Facilier, singing Friends on the Other Side. They had some real fun with it, and the job they did on the costumes was fantastic. Cesar joined the group full time just a short while after JNone's departure, and I'm really happy with him in the group. They _say_ that he fits with their "brand of dumb" in the welcome video, but I honestly rate it more as their brand of lighthearted fun. Every moment that they're on camera... you just feel that they are enjoying the living daylights out of being able to do this kind of work, and it really helps to bring you along with it. It's part of why I don't care for Pentatonix these days... their vibe is "so intense about the music that it hurts"... and that's just not a vibe I care for.
I like Jose's vibe with the group... like, he kinda feels like the captain of this motley crew, and he just kind of fits in my opinion. The other song he's showcased in is their cover of My Mother Told Me, though he's also been in several shorts with VoicePlay - including "That's what friends are for" from Disney's The Jungle Book.
Either way, even if it isn't Geoff's latest song, I've got to put in for Geoff's House of the Rising Sun. Oh, don't get me wrong, his Monster Mash is a lot of fun, too, but House of the Rising Sun just... it seems to be designed to destroy reactors. Like, in the first two reactions I saw, the reactor legitimately got up and walked away from the camera for a moment. Just completely ghosted us XD 👻

Jose very much adds the depth and richness to Caesar and Eli's parts. In Hoist the Colors, his inclusion is far more subdued than in My Mother Told Me where he played a more pivotal role.
That being said, I can't wait to see you do Friends on the Other Side, which in and of itself is just AMAZING since it has Caesar AND J None and it's freaky how sharp every note is
