  • My 70 round drum mag has been sitting in the closet long enough. Today per viewer request, I’m going to run it through a quick rapidfire test!

    The bulk ammo is good for bolt actions and revolvers but always causes problems in my semi autos. I just ordered a promag 55rd drum for my Marlin because it was only 27 bucks but it should be fun to play around with.

    That has been about my experience with Remington Golden. It is junk. It is fairly frustrating to plink with it. The drum worked good. I bet with CCI that much better. Happy 4th to you too sir. I hope you have not put any dents in my Mini-Pig😂👍🇺🇸

    Have you upgraded your extractor, I have a 597 , and got the volquartsen enhanced extractor, haven’t installed it yet but all the videos I have seen of people running and also the comparison between the new extractor and the factory extractor is night and day difference. Give the extractor a try if you haven’t already
    Edit also recommend you get the M-carbo trigger spring and aluminum bushing kit, and the volquartsen hammer, and it bring the trigger pull down to 1 1/2lbs to 2lb trigger pull.

      I just upgraded by installing the hammer and extractor. I’m looking forward to testing it.

    I ended-up buying a ProMag 70RD drum a couple of weeks ago (I found it online for $64 (+$10 shipping)) because there are no more mags for the 597. The 10RD mags I could find on ebay, amazon and everywhere else were costing $40-$60 which was absolutely ridonculous!
    I thought that when the 10RD mag that came with the rifle, eventually comes apart, I can still use the rifle for many more years. I've already had my 597 for about 7 years.
    My advice: if you find any mags for your 597, buy them. If you decide to sell the rifle, you have some added value to it with those additional mags

      I would agree with you 100%, and thanks for your comment. It seems a little by little there are less and less available not only for this rifle but for many platforms. They definitely are Increasing in value.

    Only magazine that works in my 597 is the original aluminum one but only 10 shot sucks. I find this gun to like Blazer and Mini Mag ammo the best.

      I've had pretty consistent results from the official Rem 30-round mags after lubing up the interior a bit. And the aluminum mag it comes with didn't really function any better than the 30 for me, so I wonder if it's something to do with the ejector or bolt springs

    Check the center bolt/nut hole perimeter for cracks! I sent back two for stress cracks in this area and even the third one was cracked! Not impressed with the engineering.

    If there’s anything I don’t like about shooting. .22lr it’s that the ammo is pretty much junk …. ALL OF IT !! Expect CCI yes I said it !! I think it’s a shame that there’s so many 22 lovers but only 1 company that’s really putting forth an effort to make good quality ammunition. Invented in the 1880’s well over 100 years ago and right now if you go buy a box /bucket you know for sure your going to have a few dud rounds

    • @micro-pigoffroadclub8387
      @micro-pigoffroadclub8387  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are so right! I actually love 22 LR! I admit that CCI is probably the best that I’ve ever cycled, and the most consistent from round to round in terms of velocity and ballistics. There are a couple of other small companies out there that are good, but hard to find.

      Okay, thanks. I only have the Remmy mags and they consistently hold open. I haven't found these drum magazines (the other Promag ones, yes) in the UK so far. I guess they aren't much use for most disciplines here, like IPSC or gallery, as they are either low shot count or require reloads.
