    Richard, do you remove the packing for the second run?

    Why a fractionating column for gin? That's why not much flavour is coming out and why the basket isn't big enough. Are you going to remove the ceramic from the column? The alembic is far better suited for this job.

      Yup, Alembic works great. What's best (vinegar?) to remove the juniper resin from the boiler after distilling on botanicals (last method)?

    When double distilling in the T500. What % do you need the spirit to be in the boiler. Would you also remove the packings in the column. Could you also replace the packings with a muslin bag with the botanicals in.

    Why not soak the botanicals at full strength then redistill?

      I can answer this. On a t-500 I’ve only ever gotten half gallon max at proper reflux levels (70-80%). To redistill this means you’ll have to lower the ABV down to 40%, but this action only makes a gallon max, lower it again to 20% and you only have 2 gallons max to redistill, by the time you get to three gallons your down to like 5% distillation will take a very short amount of time because it’s only making a very small amount of product.
      If you’re going to go that route you’re going to need the results of several batches of liquor that you need to read it still to be able to get a full 5 gallons Around 10% wash

    How much water would you add back to the vessel?

    • @HeartPumper
      @HeartPumper 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You have to cut max to 40% as said in vid.

    A half-pound of juniper berries? As if!
