I worked at an arcade when Marvel vs Capcom 2 was hugely popular and there would be lines of people on both sides of the giant gaming cabinet putting up their quarters and waiting to play against someone else. You could hear the music from that game throughout the whole arcade even though there was so much noise from all the other games and people. Sometimes after we closed at night I would let people in to play After Hours. Such a special time in my life that i look back on fondly.
I was only a very young FG head (SFT, MVC2, and Darkstalkers) during those days, but I do look back on those arcade days incredibly fondly, but I was also so happy with the incredible amount of locals that popped up when SF4 came out on consoles. No one actually cares if you suck at your FG of choice! Relive some of those old arcade days and enjoy yourselves. The more the merrier.
Man, what nostalgia this release must feel like for all of us. I was in high school when this came out, and my cousin had this on dreamcast, but every time we went to the movie theatre people would line up to compete against each other it was LITERALLY like 10 dudes on each side waiting to battle. Good times.
Oh my god nice! I worked at a Gumby’s Pizza downtown Madison, WI back around 2009-2010 and they had one original arcade cabinet, MVC2 for 25 cent play. I played it between deliveries all the time 😂
I love this and Castlevania Dominus Collection. Castlevania edges it out for me since I reluctantly sold my ds games and almost instantly regretted it. Finally they’re back!!!
I worked in a supermarket all summer whilst my friends partied and had fun. At the end of the 6 weeks I managed to save and buy a Sega Dreamcast with power stone and MVC2 after looking at it every minute of the night shift. It was the first console I bought myself and I still have my original console and games and I’m now playing them with my son and telling him about the value of some things you earn yourself.

I played these in the arcade AND on console. I already ordered the physical version on Switch. Loved playing X-Men CotA in the arcade. the Saturn version was a good port but obviously was missing something. Marvel Super Heroes was even better though. That's still my favorite.
This is my fav game series of all time! I am so glad marvel and capcom are working together again!!! If this sells well we might even get a new entry in the series!

Capcom is on a roll with these collections overall but the MvC collection is something I've personally wanted for so many years now so i am getting this come hell or high water, it might just be the crown jewel of this entire collection if Capcom was to wrap this up after vol. 2, and as a side note, i kinda wish Konami would make their castlevania or contra collections more like this rather than through limited run editions and whatnot tbh, that's also another reason i have been buying these and not Konamis even though i wanted castlevania collections for even longer than MvC lol, oh well... I was introduced to Capcom through the Marvel Vs. series, the first Capcom game I've ever played was Marvel vs Capcom 1 and it's still my favorite Capcom game, I think that by supporting this collection, you're basically supporting Capcom's effort in making a new installment, so that's the main reason I'm buying this, despite having had these games for free for over 20 years on an emulator.
So many great memories with all the games in this collection. I'm waiting for the physical version to release. I am very happy Capcom has been putting out the fighting game collections. I really hope we can get AVP at some point. My friends and I would hang out at the local arcade after school playing all of them. You are totaly right about who these collections are for. My favorite MvC memory was back in 2018 my grandma was having really bad, and new to us, battle with early onset dementia, and my mom and I were in the hospital with her most of the day. It was the first time we had realized how bad it had gotten so it was a really rough day but on our way home we stopped in the next town over which had a local theater in the mall for a time that had had a Mvc2 machine. I had stopped in dropped some quarters and started having a really good time when the theater manager came through and was surprised to see someone playing, he stopped right there and played several games with me, taught me how to play and switch characters (he did use cable on a newcomer though lol) eventually I was out of quarters sometime after he stopped and he said you're done? I had told him I was out of quarters and he motioned for me to come back and then emptied the ENTIRE stock of quarters back into the machine and was like here you go and walked off. I was able to play until we left the mall. The dude gave me a great memory on otherwise sour day. That theater shut down during covid but I'll always remember it for that.
Hell yes, I'm picking both collections up. I have a copy for both Switch and PS4 reserved. I'll be getting them for Xbox as well. Marvel vs. Capcom 2 in particular, I had so many hours put into that game on Dreamcast. Such an amazing game. I used to hate the soundtrack but these days I fully appreciate how brilliant it was and is. I can't wait to play these games again.
I remember my memory of playing Marvel versus Capcom at a laundromat. I was around 13 me and my mom had to go do laundry and I saw this arcade cabinet and I was hooked the first game is what got me into Marvel versus Capcom as well as fighting games altogether I may not play like I used to but I want to buy it from nostalgia purposes plus I never got the chance to play a few of those games like X-Men children of the atom and I was a huge 90s X-Men fan a fun fact was that was the inspiration for this genre to be born Capcom employees saw some of Jim Lee's artwork and they grew fascinated
marvel vs capcom 2 is just a time machine , back in the day there was a bowling place that had this arcade , me and my friends would go nuts playing this game and when we saw jill we couldnt belive it , I was a huge resident evil, xmen fan so when I saw jill I lost my mind fighting gambit ??? sentinel holy crap ! , we would make birthday parties and everything on that bowling arcade , good times , we stopped going when they took the mvc2 arcade out.
MvC2 got me deep into competitive fighters. First meeting new friends around the cabinet, then online with 360 against new friends that have been constantly promoting MvC2 content on TH-cam in the interim I learned to solder to build and mod sticks for 360 when it release on XBLA and still have two fully modded matcatz sticks, ones mine, ones the wife's Aaaaand tomorrow, for the first time I'm YEARS, I'm modding my 8bitdo switch stick with sanwas for the big release It's my favorite game and has had the biggest impact on my life Oh yeah, and Sept 12th is my 44th birthday, so I wept on the initial announcement that MvC2 was actually being rereleased, playable online AND is an OFFICIALLY MODIFIED ARCADE ROM And then again on the announcement of the digital release I'm still in shock any of this is legit happening! Can't wait to join in the fun on Thursday! (Which is the first b-day I'm not working in years, and it's the start of my 3 day weekend) Woooooo! That's MAHVEL baybee!!
These are must owns for me ! I am 48 years old and these were some of my favorite games in the arcades back in the day ! I truly love all these games ! These collections are a dream come true ! I pre-ordered the Switch and PS4 physical versions !
I remember that I had to go to different arcades in my town to play X-Men Children of the Atom, Marvel Super Heroes, and X-Men vs Street Fighter. And then I paid $600+ to import the Japanese Dreamcast and Marvel vs Capcom (which none of our arcades had). Although I had the Saturn + RAM cart, it was still mindblowing to see 100% arcade titles on the DC.
I’m looking forward to this collection, I remember when I first saw X-men vs Street Fighter in the arcade. It blew my mind because it was from left-field, there was no Marvel cinematic universe at the time. It was a random awesome surprise to see that game happen.
i remember arcade hustlers can do air combos in these games my jaw dropped everytime there was no internet to guide them back in the day just pure skill
Yup the arcade was mostly casual match ups. But if some high level tournament player shows up I would lose in an squash. It's like "come on guy be cool" if you lose in marvel vs Capcom 2 where the pro is using storm, magneto, iron man doing the never ending air combo. Or just spam cable, sentential, projectiles 🥹😭
Oh man, love children of the atom 🤟😎 followed by the classic X-Men versus Street fighter original. And throw in The punisher. Definitely getting this awesome review man ✌️😎
My brother and his friend would be up all hours of the night playing mvc2 on Dreamcast. I was never great at fighting games but just bought this for the nostalgia.
I’ve been playing MvC2 since I was 12. My local bowling place down the street from my house had the arcade and I would go there often to play it. I played it so much that I became pretty good at it I destroyed everyone. I’m double dipping on this game, I preordered a Switch physical copy and I’m getting the digital for PS5.
I played most of these in the arcades when they came out, especially Children of the Atom and Marvel Super Heroes. Then played some of them on PS2. Excited to get into them all again.
I already ordered it. Used to play Children of the Atom all the time in the arcade. I picked up X-Men vs Street Fighter the second it came out on Saturn. Still have my DC and PS2 copies of MVC2. I love all these games.
i still remember going to the pizza restaurant at the beach growing up. My parents would order the pizzas and I would go wait and play x-men cota. I also remember 90s arcades always had marvel super heroes but I never knew there was any vs. games until 1998 when my friend from school go mvsf for ps1 and rented mvc1. Blew my 12yr old mind.
I played them in arcades, had them on consoles, bought the arcade 1up, and still can't wait for the collection this week. And I'll buy the switch physical to keep.
My true passion for fighting games came from seeing the MvC2 cabinet for the first time. That blew my mind and I thought the game look and sounded perfect.
Looks like an excellent collection, I'll definitely be getting a copy for myself. I have a lot of fond memories with every game included, but especially X-Men Vs Street Fighter. My first time seeing that game in action was almost like a religious experience. Also, I recently played through The Punisher again on MAME and yeah, it's like Final Fight with machine guns and grenades!
I grew up playing these games on Arcade when it was new, I especially loved X-men vs SF alot. Unfortunately, I am physical game nerd, so I will get this two month later.
I remember playing Marvel Superheroes and X-Men vs Street Fighter at this one arcade while visiting my cousins in southern Alberta, Canada. Then my home town got a brand new movie theater at our mall (Galaxy Cinemas) as well as a Playdium arcade attached to it which had a Marvel vs Capcom 2 arcade machine, which I played every time I was at the mall. Then one day I was reading a new issue of EGM and there was an ad for MVC2 coming to PS2 and XBox, I ended up getting that game on PS2 that Christmas and super happy to have it (still have it to this day). Asking for the physical copy of MVC Collection this Christmas, can't wait!
In the modern day of all of these different collections and retro games being re-released on Switch, etc. Marvel vs. Capcom 2 is the one game that I've been clamoring for! I'm stoked to get this game physically on Switch in November!
Only played the 1st 2 in the arcades. Remember playing Children of the atom all night christmas eve 96 on saturn. Played so much MVC2 on dreamcast. Already have the game preloaded.
I love this set Sooooo much ,it's basically all the games I used to play as a teen at Johnny Zee's in Metrotown centre🌃 remember that place man, but anyway I am definitely planning on this collection coming home with me 🎉 it's a reason to celebrate and beat the video crap out of each other.whoooo
So glad Xbox and Capcom came to an agreement to bring this to Xbox One. 2025 is a ways away but worth the wait. Marvel Super Heroes is the one I’ll play first!
I have the physical reserved and planning on getting the digital over the weekend, I still have to finish the work week plus I have bills to pay. I can always watch my favorite streamers play it on Twitch and celebrate it's release for the mean time.
When Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection (physical copies) comes out which is less than a week before Thanksgiving... I might be playing it for hours.

It's my favorite game and has had the biggest impact on my life
Oh yeah, and Sept 12th is my 44th birthday, so I wept on the initial announcement that MvC2 was actually being rereleased, playable online AND is an OFFICIALLY MODIFIED ARCADE ROM
And then again on the announcement of the digital release
I'm still in shock any of this is legit happening!
Can't wait to join in the fun on Thursday! (Which is the first b-day I'm not working in years, and it's the start of my 3 day weekend)
Woooooo! That's MAHVEL baybee!!
Love your review! I love this game and have not put it down all weekend!
My friend had marvel vs. Capcom 2 on dream cast and it was so amazing, one of the best nostalgic games for me personally
Thanks for an Amazing and positive review
We finally got it and we should be happy about it, you just got a new subscriber
Keep up the good work.
I’m looking forward to this collection, I remember when I first saw X-men vs Street Fighter in the arcade. It blew my mind because it was from left-field, there was no Marvel cinematic universe at the time. It was a random awesome surprise to see that game happen.
Loved playing these games at my local arcades so looking forward to playing them again all in one collection
i remember arcade hustlers can do air combos in these games my jaw dropped everytime there was no internet to guide them back in the day just pure skill
The Punisher is my all-time favorite arcade game. The fighting games are just a bonus for me. But I love those too
Nah, fighting games were fun with people in person but no one wants to just come over and play games anymore.
Shut up
My friends still do, we get together almost every weekend and play together, you just need to find the right set of friends
Me and my friends still do that all the time tbh
Yup the arcade was mostly casual match ups. But if some high level tournament player shows up I would lose in an squash.
It's like "come on guy be cool" if you lose in marvel vs Capcom 2 where the pro is using storm, magneto, iron man doing the never ending air combo. Or just spam cable, sentential, projectiles 🥹😭
We have jobs now honey
Id played these in Mexico 🇲🇽 in the Arcade the real thing when i was 7 it was hot back then in 1998 , am 37 now i still play them on Dreamcast!!!
Oh man, love children of the atom 🤟😎 followed by the classic X-Men versus Street fighter original. And throw in The punisher. Definitely getting this awesome review man ✌️😎
I'm buying this for MVC2 alone. I loved the other games, but MVC2 was my entire life for a while.
I remember leaving MVC2 run overnight in training mode as it earned point to unlock the characters, was so much fun in the morning unlocking a new one
Oh yes yes, we can't wait. Fighters Evolution will be hosting many events and Tournaments once this drops
i still remember going to the pizza restaurant at the beach growing up. My parents would order the pizzas and I would go wait and play x-men cota. I also remember 90s arcades always had marvel super heroes but I never knew there was any vs. games until 1998 when my friend from school go mvsf for ps1 and rented mvc1. Blew my 12yr old mind.
I love Marvel super and marvel vs. I played them in arcades since the 90s and still. So glad to have online play it's a dream
I played them in arcades, had them on consoles, bought the arcade 1up, and still can't wait for the collection this week.
And I'll buy the switch physical to keep.
Looks an amazing collection and mist I haven't played! I'll wait for it on the switch though I think
Day 1 picking it up. Can't wait played all these games back in the 90s with friends
Talk about a dream come true.
Now we need original MK 1-4 collection
My true passion for fighting games came from seeing the MvC2 cabinet for the first time. That blew my mind and I thought the game look and sounded perfect.
Best gaming TH-camr out there Johnny!
I played Marvel vs Capcom 2 in the arcades back in the old days and I’m hyped to get the game on PS4 and the Switch.
Definite buy for me. So happy to finally get these gorgeous 2-d fighters in one package!
Playing this now reminds me of when I was playing these in various arcades in the 90s
I have the physical reserved and planning on getting the digital over the weekend, I still have to finish the work week plus I have bills to pay. I can always watch my favorite streamers play it on Twitch and celebrate it's release for the mean time.
Hey Johnny I’m just curious, does the game come with the disc or cartridge in the box? Or is it simply a download code?
Thanks.
Love the content! 👍
Yes I'm picking up I'm coin up Arcade Cabinet with Marvel Collection grew up with these Fighting Games
When Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection (physical copies) comes out which is less than a week before Thanksgiving... I might be playing it for hours.
