Excellent compilation video to commemorate the MvC Collection announcement, TopHat. If only Sony would have offered a PS1 Pro model back around 97-98 with double or triple the RAM. We could've had much better 2D fighters on the older hardware. Sony would go on to do just this with the PSP 2000/slim model, doubling the RAM from 32MB (on the 1000/Fat model) to 64MB.
The big fail is no physical copy. Cant buy it knowing the game can be stuck on a console or service that can get shut down

19:47 *Let it be known, the PSX port of X-Men COTA* was quite Decent, faithful, and well-made for the hardware. The Saturn version is obviously better but, the Playstation port deserves props also.

The reason why the X-Men were shunned for so long is because the Marvel Cinematic Universe became the most popular Marvel franchise in the 2010s and Disney didn't have the X-Men (and Fantastic Four) movie rights, Fox had those. And unlike Spider-Man, which is the most popular comic book character in existence, the X-Men were seen by Disney as replaceable, so for a long time they were trying to downplay their existence. Now that Disney owns Fox, the X-Men are regaining their popularity

Takashi Tezuka has only ever worked for Nintendo and is a totally different guy.
Well, to be fair, Capcom DID do some work for Nintendo with some of The Legend of Zelda games, most notably, the two Four Swords games, The Minish Cap, and Oracle of Ages/Seasons/the cancelled Secrets, and the reworked A Link to the Past for the GBA as well, if I do recall correctly, so it IS possible that both people might have met each other at some point in their lives.

Hopefully we can get a re release of Tatsunoko vs Capcom soon too. Another side scrolling beat em up collection featuring Aliens vs Predator, Cadillacs & Dinosaurs, and the rest of the Final Fight SNES games would be brilliant also.
Maybe this time, Final Fight 2 and Final Fight 3/Tough will have more weapons, and that the thugs that keep weapons on them will have them knocked out of their hands like El Gado and Hollywood were in the original Final Fight? Who knows, maybe more stages, bosses, enemies, and OSTs will be in all of those games, and that there will be an all new rebooted idea of Final Fight: Streetwise?

Feels like Disney buying Fox and thus Marvel getting the rights to the X-Men back helped a lot.

I've always been frankly surprised that Thor wasn't included until MVC3.
I always found the lack of Fantastic Four, disturbing. It was one of the main Fox Kids Shows.

The PS2 and Xbox release was garbage trash that much like the Dreamcast forced you to unlock 90% of the roster
@@lutherheggs451 In the original arcade version of Marvel vs. Capcom 2, you still are required to unlock 90% of the roster as well. If your arcade operator never reset the cabinet then the roster should be okay but once the Dip Switches is touch then you lose access to those unlock characters. The only way to unlock them in the arcade was to continue throwing coins into the machine to earn points, the more points it generate, the more likely a new character is unlock. In the console versions, they change that up so you earn in-game currency to simply purchase the recycle sprite hidden character you want in the game.

Man the capcom representation in MVC2 was weird... I always thought the characters were from some other properties but its funny knowing they're not. sonson was probably the most surprising and a pretty cool concept for a character! honestly though I think the coolest capcom additions across the series were Megaman and Jill Valentine. I think Jill especially is cool in the artstyle.
The only two characters in their that wasn't from any game are Ruby Heart and Amingo. At the time when I play the game I always thought maybe they are from some of Capcom's unknown Japanese games or something but nope they are actually brand new created specifically for MvC2. Sonson's daughter is the same too, other than MvC2 she never appeared in a new game ever again.
Im just waiting for the Megaman: Bargain Bin Legacy Collection to complete the set, it could include Soccer, Battle and Chase, X Command Mission, Xtreme 1 and 2, the Mario Party - like one on the NES and both Starforce games.
Sounds like a joke, but Im ACTUALLY waitinf for them to release that.

Hopefully a CVS collection is in the works considering the crossover SF6 DLC this year because those first two games are some of my favorite fighters of all time. That said, if Capcom went about a collection that included Power Stone and Rival Schools games, I won't ask them for anything again.
Well that and a Dino Crisis remake in the vein of the RE ones. Then I'm cool forever because a Versus collection has been something I've wanted for a long, long time, so it's a celebration right now.

I bought a Xbox 360 recently and even though mvc2 has been delisted I was still allowed to download it and other games such as 3rd strike online edition as I went into my purchases from years back and simply re-downloaded them 🎉

God I loved growing up around that time. Coming into the arcade and seeing the newest SF/Marvel game and just knowing you'd spend all your allowance on it for the next couple months.
This is a Disney & Capcom W. Adding a ranked leader board for each game is also a huge bonus

I imagine they're straight-up ports of the Arcade 1up releases so it should be solid.
It would be much more awesome if Capcom could give us characters from the collection to use as unlockables for other games in the collection, like using cyborg akuma in MvC2 or even Onslaught or Apocalypse in MvC2. Even if they had to make those characters fill all three slots for local or online play, that would be fine, and it would add a new layer to challenge seasoned players so that those boss characters aren't CPU and can actually change tactics!

SNK is a still a struggling company. They don't have the same financial decision as they once did so I guess they are trying not to rush things through this gen. Still at least some of the Metal Slug games made it to Switch though digital only.
Wait, Abyss wasn't Nils Styger, Night Crawler's half brother? I always thought it was an odd choice to use him as the main bad guy as he wasn't that powerful, but the powers are even similar. Finding out that it wasn't supposed to be the same character both makes sense and is perplexing.

I seems when capcom actually made their own games that’s when they produced their best games but when they out sourced them is when they didn’t turn out that great.
These collections are awesome, but can we do Breath of Fire or Mega Man Legends collection already? Just replayed BOFIII and still love it. Also, how about a 3D fighting collection so I can get Star Gladiator and Rival Schools?

19:47 *Let it be known, the PSX port of X-Men COTA* was quite Decent, faithful, and well-made for the hardware. The Saturn version is obviously better but, the Playstation port deserves props also.

wow. thank you for the history lesson in the video game stuff for this series from capcom. I knew sega was just better when it came to this series. I didn't know playstation was well... Wasn't great for it at the time. Kinda ironic a bit. Still sad times back then when sega had to give up making consoles... Got to high into the sun...
