The video very helpful I was about to ask about the secondary air pump valve and mentioned that in the moment like you feel me ! I did the timing chain guide two months ago and the mechanic broke the inlet hose for the secondary air pump but I didn’t see that only afew days ago when I tried to change the inner wheels cover
Hello Nathan and thank you so much for the clear vids and instructions..... My question today is... Can a coil pack throw a P 1189 P 1188 ? Or where should I look?
Hi , I have replaced the cover and diaphragm but still lots of noise coming out of the oil dip stick , oil filler cap hissing and difficult to remove , burns oil as well . Engine runs fine , no misfire anymore but still has vacuum leak and oil burning . Is this can be bad oil separate valve which behind the timing chain ? Or clogged vent tube under the intake manifold? I love your videos , they help alot . Thanks .
I see you don't seem to reply to comments but I figured I'd ask anyways... there's an electronic part that's connected to the vacuum like on the driver side of the ccv. The electric thing is near the front of the car though. In my 2001 e38, it sits by the oil filter and whatnot. What is that for and how can you tell when it's bad? I replaced my whole ccv and it has that annoying whistle along with an SEL for bank 1 and 2 too lean. I've replaced the MAF sensor, all the ignition coils, the fuel filter, cleaned the fuel tank and checked the fuel pressure. I've replaced all of the o2 sensors and all of the intake gaskets too. Oh, it also has a new battery... I don't think the brake booster is bad, but I'm not sure because I have a "brake" light on my dash and I'm not sure why. The pads are good, but maybe the sensors are bad? There are pixels out, so I can't make out exactly what it says, but it says something about check brake... The previous owner was an idiot, I'm trying to save it because it has low miles and it's pretty clean all things considered.
When you replaced the ccv, on the bottom there is a large vacuum line that is spring loaded, that runs to the front to a oil separator that is being the timing chain, make sure all of that is good, also make sure the intake manifold gaskets are good
Hey Nathan, I get a very rough idle on coldstart only, feels like if it’s a misfire but it’s not I have no cold papa now I have a video if I could email it to you that will be great, do you think it’s a CCV or something else. The mechanic is telling me it’s a bad oil pump, which I don’t think it is I feel that it has to do Airgas mixture issue. Thank you for all your help
hey all i ,im insan, here iwant to ask about the problem of 740il car in 1993. start my crane trouble cover gasket broke so oil engin go to plug coil without real time i continue to change coil and plug. so here it is all done I try to start my engine 6000km terkanan. please explain what the problem is, either Maf or IdIl, or as it is
Hey, i have one situation, please help me if you know what it is. Sometimes by cold engine my 4,6 Rews on and than goes immediately off , after couple minutes goes normally on and stays. He has a problem with idle when you revs engine it kind take heavy engine idle back. It sinks to 450-500 rpm and than comes back to 700 Can it be vacuum leak?
@@SmeleeTV it was one of small vacuum lines, that goes on intake … it was Like black color with blue line, and black hose with Yellow line on it… if you still have OEM
Hey Nathan i have an issue with my 01 x5 4.4i. It had long cranks with multiple misfires codes. Now is also stalling. I put new coil packs new spark plugs, fuel filter, fuel pump, new vacuum hoses, cleaned the throttle body, cleaned the mass air flow sensor. I have no other codes just multiple misfires
Ok Nathan i did it and it stayed on for a couple of minutes but then it was unstable and the rpms started to drop turn it back on and it die right away then turn it back the 3rd time and it stayed on. I notice though that the start up was very good basically normal with it unplugged
hey Nathan great video as all ways is it possible to change the timing chain guides without moving the chain and the fancy tools for locking the camshaft on a 740 il . thanks
Chef Adrian Lala actually just got done doing my timing chain guides on my 97 540i with the M62 none TU engine and I didn't have to take off the chains or even put in the cam locking blocks. There's not a ton of info on it. Keep in mind though if you have the M62TU with Vanos you need to follow Nathan's video to a T.
@@Mcroehrle2 there a video of a guy doing it on the M62 but the TU just using the flywheel locking pin and 2 blocks of wood, cut and measured to lock the cams and you can do the job.

Will rainwater down in the coil housing cause rough idling?
If a 540i makes noise on startup for 3 seconds even with new tensioner, what do you think might be wrong?

Please could a bad cam sensor on bank 1 also cause this issue?
