How does this only have a couple thousand views. Opinions of running socks are so rare. Probably the thing I waste the most money on trying to find something good

That video helped a lot! Now I understand why I like my cheaper Kiprun socks more than expensive Darn Tough, Feetures, PhD Wool. I have also ordered X-Socks Marathon and Salomon Marathon.
I use the injinji, balega and stance for my runs. balega is by far my favorite

Great review… Of all the socks you posted, I wear the Salomon’s… I concur with your assessment. Love the fit and feeling on shoes of these socks. Also, I actually wear some of my compression bike socks (from Assos and Q36.5) for running. Surprisingly comfortable and breathable. The downside to all these sock is one parameter you did not review and that is how well socks help the ankle stability which is gaining importance now that shoes with higher stack seem to gaining favor for running. I wound up purchasing a sock that I just learned about recently that was designed specifically to help with ankle stability… the sock name is “Prevent Sprain”… however this is a very unique sock and for people like me that could benefit from this design… I just started using it with my new Nike ZoomX Invisible shoes which have a high stack and a lot of ZoomX foam and might make them somewhat unstable for a lot of runners…. usage and time will tell if the Prevent Sprain socks are right for me or just an expensive mistake. So far all good…. Keep up your great reviews, great job.
Balega are by far and away the best socks I have ever worn
I fried multiple socks - the CEP socks are by far the best. Also the designs are sweeet!
Stance and CEP are some of the best choices. Stance in my humble opinion, are probably a bit better than CEP. Other people I know, feel the same..

Wow, lost me at the low score for Rockay. Amazing socks and blister free since using them. They also have a lifetime guarantee which improves the value and is made from recycled materials so environmental focused. I'm also surprised at injini as that is a great sock as well. I suppose it's all subjective and different socks work for different people but thank you for taking the time for reviewing 👍
I actually enjoy Falke socks quite a lot, esp. the „RU5“ which is even a fair bit lighter than the RU4; no blisters or hotspots so far (I find the layout of the seams working really well here), super breathable, I agree they could use a bit more structure but they work well for me as they are.
I agree, the Feetures „Elite Light“ have a great fit, wish there was an even lighter version though. But extremely comfy and will probably last a while, they are excellent at staying dry too.
My favourite socks are the La Sportiva „Fast“ & „Sky“, both are aimed at trailrunning, so they are very robust, yet extremly light and breathable. Only downsides are they are a bit pricey and need extra care when washing them. But the fit is just awesome and they make me feel the wind at my toes. :-)
Best everyday sock: Asics „Ultra Comfort“, perfect balance between cushioning and breathability, pretty durable and a bit more budget friendly than some others.

@@ProCookin I'm still very happy with Falke too. They stay like new longer than pretty much any other sock I own.
That's quite a list of socks, Alex. 😊 I can totally feel you with the Injinji socks. The only time I use mine is when I already have healing blisters on the toes. That's were they really shine. Danish Endurance have a nice fit, but I have a problem with durability. My top 3: Wrightsocks Coolmesh II, Soar Crew & Falke RU4. Inspired by your test, I'll give Bauerfeind & INOV8 a try. 👌👍

@@AlexFilitti When I look at X-Socks or other brands, I feel like my foot has way to many parts which need support or compression or padding. They seem to be very technical. Compared to that, Soar socks are quite simple. No extensive padding, a light compression stripe over the arch. They just feel sooo good on my foot. But I have to admit, that it is very expensive ... to put it mild. At least I got rid of the horrible high shipping costs, when they launched their EU webshop in March.
Feetures is my go-to brand. I have cheaper alternatives from Decathlon, but they are less grippy and protective of my toes.
Yeah x socks are my fav . I love the sky run version . Very durable very comfy

One thing - I'd exclude the price from the score just to see the quality value.

I must admit that I was hesitant as to whether include the price or not in the scoring system. I'm not really looking at that and I prefer getting less socks but quality ones rather than tons of not so good ones. But it's important for some people and I thought it'd be fair to take it into consideration. May I ask which socks you'll try? :-) Cheers
@@AlexFilitti hmm, I will turn my attention back to Nike socks, either the racing or trail (no matter even if I'm off road mostly). I'll try Features - these have replaced Balega in my running store (some people not liking them too?). And finally I will check the Wrightsock. I have heard a good tip to wear 2 socks on long runs/races, that should help with blisters. So maybe the 2-layer instead... 🤔
one more take on the price score - I thought it over a bit, it should not be extracted, just having less input on the total score. In the end me - the customer must make my mind while shopping ...and evaluating that quality/performance (I've heard of) vs the price tag I see. Now, for socks selection it's silly to dwell about, but racing shoes... this is probably crazy when buying ...and scoring it for value/price. (considering that most of them are prototypes of some stage, have short life and other shortcomings...)

I guess there's different schools of sock users because I'll say: the thinner the better 😄 Thick socks --> blisters and sweaty feet. Falke RU5 Race are incredible socks. Crazy expensive but if you can afford them, buy them. I've been happy with thin 3-5 euro socks from regular sports shop, but with premium socks eg. the sizing goes in two number increments (44-45) while cheap socks often are eg. 41-45 and may be sligtly small or way too large.
Very informative. Sometimes I couldn't see the socks you were describing. If you could hold the socks higher or change camera to top down angle it would improve the video. A wrap-up slide listing all the socks and scores would be killer. Keep up the great content.

I bought the Injinji toe socks after getting blisters on my little toes from running in the Mach 4 Yes a pain to put on but they do the job and I haven't gotten any more blisters.

Very interesting review. I use socks to get better fit.
I use Compressport Shock for shoes that are a bit toowide and regularly Falke RU4 (average) & RU5 (good) . Tried Falke RU3 but they are just without any shape.. Tried the Feetures but they are to snug for me.. I also use Asics running socks. Quite good and very durable.
I don't think that the dots on Compressport do anything but the socks are always good quality and comfortable.

Socks for a better fit: yes, I totally agree! :-) I understand the Feetures can feel snug but coming from X-socks that was actually ok and yes I think the dots are just their "iconic" thing and it's hard for them to depart from that (just like On Running and the clouds and so on). Or redesign them to help my heels better - too often I get blisters. I know it is my feet and shoes specific, but the CS Achilles heel 😂 don't help.
@@mikowhy9608 I am still looking for a sock for my heel slip. I always have a problem with my right foot.. Runners Knot helps some time.. How do we stop this? Some running tape around the heel to make it wider?

He was using 2 pairs of socks, a thin pair outside.
I didn't try that trick...

Found the Incylence Running socks to Big in the forefoot, i use them in winter.
You mean too much material? They're more padded for sure but I actually like to have different options to play a bit with the fit of shoes as well.

My favorites are Rapha socks for running - very light and slightly compressive!
I must admit that I do also run sometimes in cycling socks, most often for brick sessions, and my go to pair is from MAAP :-) Never tried the ones from Rapha. Thanks for stopping by!

Sparks are great, and lightweight too but they can be too thin. Never tried the multipliers!

Sorry to see the Falke score is that low, i have different pairs, never had any blisters. A pair of Ru4 i own, i use for more than 5 years!

Bonsoir Alex. J'espère que tu n'as pas les pieds dans l'eau, car c'est ce que l'on voit de la Belgique au début de chaque journal. Tu as du te ruiner en chaussettes? Honnêtement, sur tout ce que tu as présenté, je n'en connais que très peu.
-Depuis un an, je porte énormément de Stance, pas pour courir mais pour aller au travail (en vélo et très souvent debout). Elles tiennent bien le pied mais sont un peu haute et souvent trop jolies à mon goût pour courir. Je reste d'une génération où l'esthétique des chaussettes pour courir était inexistante et un luxe superflu.
-J'ai porté plus jeune énormément de X-socks qu'aujourd'hui je trouve trop fines avec peu de maintien.
-Je te rejoins pour les Compressport et pour l'utilité des plots. Même sous le pied on les oublie très vite. C'est comme les plots des chaussures On Running. Du flanc.
-J'ai également essayé des BV Sport (dont j'adore les cuissards de contention très efficaces) mais c'est très quelconque et même décevant.
-De même les chaussettes Thyo, assez techniques (une seule paire) ne m'ont pas convaincu à cause d'une fibre trop "acrylique" désagréable.
-Ma dernière bonne surprise c'est LCF (La Chaussette Française), une petite marque distribuée ici à Reims (et sur l'est de la France je pense) qui fait du très bon travail : maintien ciblé et très bonne résistance. Vu ta critique des Nike Racing, elles devraient te plaire.
-Sinon, la plupart du temps, je porte des chaussettes Décathlon (je ne sais pas si ces hypermarchés du sport (souvent bas de gamme) sont présents chez toi). C'est leur marque Kalenji. Pour des prix très bas (autour de 10 euros) ils font de très bonnes chaussettes. Particulièrement la Kiprun Strap qui a un maintien +++. Idéale pour les trails et pour l'hiver en général. A ce prix là, je les change régulièrement.
Il n'y a pas énormément de choix dans nos boutiques (4 ou 5 marques différentes par boutique) et souvent les mêmes. Quand je vois les rayons chaussettes dans les boutiques où va Seth, je crois rêver. Chez eux, c'est un vrai business avec une variété de formes et de motifs beaucoup plus fun. On est très très loin de ça ici.
Sinon, je dois avouer que les Salomon me font envie. Oxyde et silicone pour 28 euros? Cela se tente.

Bonjour Alain. Bruxelles a été épargnée, du moins par les inondations, car la pluie elle s'est également abattue ici en quantité. Merci de prendre ces nouvelles. Je te rejoins sur de nombreux points, hormis peut-être le manque de maintien sur les chaussettes x-socks. Les modèles que j'ai sont plutôt bons de ce côté là (marathon, marathon energy)...mais cela dépend évidemment aussi de la forme du pied. tu m'as également fait penser que j'ai oublié BV Sport alors même que comme toi je suis adepte de leurs chaussettes de contention (très peu dit, mais ils ont un des seuls modèles pour lequel une vraie étude a été réalisée, et c'est d'ailleurs un des seuls "accessoires" de récupération dont les effets sont cliniquement prouvés). Je note pour LCF et Décathlon (pour lequel je partage ton avis: leurs produits sont soit excellents - et pas seulement en rapport qualité prix - soit fort décevants). Curieux de ton avis sur les Salomon si tu viens à les tester. Note cependant qu'elles sont plutôt fines, cf. ta remarque sur les x-socks. Question de ma part: il me semble que tu avais mentionné la MetaSpeed Edge (sauf erreur de ma part)...peux-tu m'en dire quelques nouvelles si tu as pu t'en servir davantage. Pour les MetaSpeed Edge, j'ai reçu des 42 beaucoup trop petites, je les ai donc renvoyées. Mais, des quelques aller-retour que j'ai fait dans l'appartement, j'ai bien senti un maintien plutôt moyen mais surtout mes orteils explosés à l'avant qui m'empêchaient d'en dire plus. Sinon, je pense qu'elles sont encore plus légères que le modèle d'origine, vu le stack réduit (malgré le drop plus élevé de 8 mm). La mousse m'a semblé très bien, hyper légère mais moins molle que chez New Balance. Et comme actuellement je me suis remis au vélo (pour une fracture de fatigue au pied) je ne prends pas le risque de les recommander en 42,5 si je ne peux pas vraiment les essayer. Car, chez eux, si on est inscrit (membre One Asics) on peut essayer et échanger mais sur 1 mois maximum. Par contre j'ai craqué sur les Puma Eternity et là, par contre, le 42 est un peu large mais avec mes chassettes double épaisseur Kalenji ça passe. Bonne mousse, bon maintien (chausson et semelle), 270 g... j'ai hâte de me rétablir pour voir si elles pourraient carrément devenir ma paire de base, pour mes footing de récup'. Et apparemment, quand je vais reprendre, ce sera uniquement de la récup pendant de longues semaines.
Et j'ai oublié de te dire : sur ta "vidéo chaussettes" le cadrage est moyen, puisque quand tu parles de chaque paire, elles sont souvent hors champ et, ne t'en rendant pas compte, elles n'apparaissent que furtivement. Peut-être que des gros plans t'auraient permis de mieux cadrer et zoomer sur les parties "techniques" quand cela est nécessaire. Enfin, je dis cela mais j'imagine le surplus de travail pour une telle entreprise. Quand je m'amuse à décortiquer les vidéos de Seth : champ/contre champ, images du drone mixées avec celles d'une caméra posée au sol, paysages en accéléré... il vaut effectivement mieux pour lui qu'il puisse faire cela à plein temps. Et merci encore pour le temps que tu prends dans tes réponses, c'est un vrai plaisir.
