    Great review thanks! Started an outdoor, early morning job working in and amongst nature, and have sensitive skin.... A recipe for disaster I hear you say, especially starting in the Winter... Found my synthetic/cotton socks were ending the day wet and causing my feet some issues, so looked to a solution. MERINO WOOL!!! Bought a cheap pair from a local store, 70% MW and first day knew there were what I needed. Better than the other socks in tougher conditions no less. And now I know what I need to upgrade even Futher! Will be purchasing the Thermalica and one of the final 2 you mention! Again thanks alot!

    Finally a video of someone who has actually worn the socks they talk about! One question, I like to wear a dress casual boot (Thursday Boots) at times but live in a tropical place so its always warm. Which sock would you recommend for somewhere that is always warm? My left foot I find is more blister prone so been looking around.

    • @SummitOrNothing

      I would go for a thinner sock perhaps, or more breathable at least.

    I'm walking 8-10 mile hikes since my retirement , last year.. On Friday last, I barely survived the last mile from a walk Hampton Court to Richmond, along the River Thames.. My feet were burning all around my toe area for the last mile. I was wearing good hiking boots but Peacock's cheap socks which I probably bought 4 pairs for a tenner. . A fellow rambler told me he had paid £19 for his hiking socks. I had never heard of hiking socks. Well after research I discovered this video on TH-cam. Thank You for this advice.

    did not realise socks were so complicated, you have inspired me to try some branded socks instead of the thick Asda or Tesco socks that I usually wear for hiking

    • @SummitOrNothing
      @SummitOrNothing  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Not that I ever had a blister before using these kind of socks - but the comfort rating is amazing with these socks. I am just about three years in with these and only now are the pairs being used on a regular basis showing signs of wear

  • @soggz4246
    @soggz4246 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Trev.
    I find than any thick socks are good, providing you wear a thin pair underneath. Certain stops blisters and sweating.
    Hope that helps.👍🏾

    Nice review Trev ... Just bought myself two pairs of Darn Tough socks this weekend .... too hot to hike so I went down to an awesome outdoor store called Cabelas ... if you ever come to the states you got to go there it will just blow your mind ... I bought them cos I put some insoles in my hiking shoes and now my normal socks are too tight ... in fact they gave me a blister on my last hike (the one where I saw a bear 🐻 😳) ... these darn toughs are quite a bi5 thinner looking forward to trying them on my next trip... ATB Dave Mc

  • @nosilverharbinger

    The only socks I have for hiking are smartwools. Most of them are their standard thickness for 95% of what I do, and one pair is thicker for when it is certain that my boots will get flooded or whatever.
    They are great, never had a blister, but I’m pretty sure that any sock made for outdoor use (provided you get your insoles dialed in) will do the job.

    Bridgedale trail sport lightweight T2 socks great for summer hiking and trail running. I had a pair Darn tough socks hike and trek 2 pairs both ended up with holes on the heal areas after one summer of use. Not the same ones in your review. I have sent them back over 2 weeks ago with there Lifetime warranty offer not heard any thing back yet from them yet. I be doing video on it soon. Maybe just a faulty batch. Richard

    This just came up on my wall, Trev. You wanna have a try of the injinji socks. They're toe socks, and they are really, really good at blister prevention. My feet always get f#@ked up with blisters, despite my best efforts. An American Sgt I used know, lent me a pair of his and I immediately got some... watching this, it just came back to me. I'm gonna re-order some right now!
