      Jeremy Jones big Al was absolutely deadly in post up too - I watched him as a Pacers fan in his last year in the NBA - in a game against Philly he dropped 10 straight points on Embiid - the biggest problem with big Al is that he couldn’t guard anyone after all those injuries - if he had played in the 90s he would have been one of the best centers ever

      Lebron and AD will be fine because of how deadly their PNR variations could be. In playoff scenarios, you'd go 1,5 or 3,5/3,4 (depending on whether Lebron is playing guard or forward) and be able to generate easy offense for the team. Kyrie succeded playing with Lebron, Kevin Love was able to eventually get his post ups... I think they've made the proper adjustments

      Calvin Peake I see it all the time at the lower levels. Big kids pushed into the post/blocks to take layups and and put-backs, rarely dribble or even pass. At the lower levels it still makes sense since the best shooters are still under 30% from 3. Wish they would legislate the big back into the game, it’s amazing but I miss the low-post battles and the spectacle of small guys (Iverson) going against the trees (Mourning). I think the nets shot 8 2-pointers in 48min vs Knicks earlier this year!!!!!

    I don't agree that the post up shot is the worst efficient shot in the NBA. If anything it's the most efficient depending on who is shooting it. A great post player is almost always going to get double-teamed, which usually opens up a wide open 3 from your best shooter. Much more effective than a 25-30% big man who's hitting the back of the rim 70% of the time. Fact is, there are way too many bad to average shooters chucking 3s they know they can't consistently make. It's almost comical to watch at times. Truth is there just isn't that many true big men in the game anymore, just big power forwards with more range. The rest are mostly big guys with no post moves. Versatile big power forwards like Antonio Davis and Giannis Antetokounmpo still post up in the paint sometimes. They're very efficient players though, and probably the best players in the league right now.

      James Geiger he declined because of injuries, and the change of system in Indiana, this is a classic example of players playing in the wrong era, also the game is heavily pg and sg based, this is a guards league and that’s what made John Stockton so great was that he did it in a time where the big man was the center of the offense, but we don’t have the shaq type player in the game today and I think that once we see a shaq or a Robert parish or a Ben Wallace type player then the nba will be all about the big man, so I think I’m time the league will change.

So Mark Jackson told him “ shoot 15 and if you make 60% of them you’ll get the green light.” Rest is history. They ran high pick and rolls and exploited the center’s mobility. Then came Klay.

  • @justinle8787

    The most fundamental part of a basketball player is his shot, I don't know why people force tall guys to play in the paint all the time. If they have a wet jump shot, let them do it, they can contribute in other ways. In the future, a superstar big will be deadly in the pick n roll, can run the floor, shoot lights out and defend the post.

  • @mister_bailey
    @mister_bailey 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I contend that if you’re a big and your “one on one post shot is the worst shot in basketball”, you ain’t doing it right. As they say, you can’t teach height. If you’re a 7-footer playing exclusively like a perimeter player, you take that advantage away.
    To Roy’s point, though, there’s no reason why a big couldn’t learn all the same skills as a guard IN ADDITION TO the big man skill sets in the paint.
