  • my friend recently brought over his AmStar Rocky 49cc moped and we ended up installing a cheap LCD gauge cluster that he got from wish. despite its low price point it is actually pretty feature-packed and a speedometer tachometer fuel gauge all built into it along with RGB LED lighting, and it give the bike a cool cyberpunk look.

    I got this speedo as a replacement for my 94 CB250, it definitely DOES work.... Sort of. At first the tach was super inaccurate, but in time corrected itself. Also I cant seem to get the MPH setting to stay saved. I can fully configure the speedo properly. But after one or two starts/stops of the bike, it will revert back to KPH. The odometer and trip meter keep the mileage, just the other settings go back to default. The only trick I had found to keep MPH set was to change the light color and save it every time I shut the bike off. Its a bit annoying, but works so I just live with it for now.

    • @AllboroLCD
      @AllboroLCD 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@samgome01 Thanks, the damn thing does work though, the ODO and trip saves without fail! Just the general settings wont save unless I change/set the backlight color each time before I take out my key. I just had a notion earlier that perhaps I need to ground out the fuel gauge wire even though I have no tank sensor. Will give it a try. I may roll the dice on a secondary unit and test your theory either way!

      @@AllboroLCD we grounded the fuel gauge as well since the rocky has a mechanical gauge by the filler cap

      @AllboroLCD 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@samgome01 I tried grounding the fuel ga wire, still not staying saved. Its such BS too because I cannot find a comparable digi gauge that takes the old school style speedo cable in the same price range. I think I will go ahead and try ONE more of these units. If the new one works, I suppose I could use my drill to set the mileage back proper. I know my way around PCB's and soldering irons, but I dont see how these units open up either.

    Hey man. This video is the only thing I can find. I have bought it on Amazon for my 1982 yamaha xj650. My bike has a speedometer cable already so I would just screw it in the back? Right? And for the wires what plugs in where how do you know where to put them.

      Yeah we just screwed it into the cable that was already there i think most of these Chinese bikes use a standard ratio for the speedometer I'm not sure if it is the same for your bike, we did have to figure out what cables where for the wiring though

      It depends how your stock guage works, if it is pulsed it hooks up pretty much the same,
