    In this video Adam and I installed the final piece of flooring and the baseboard. It's all coming together one piece at a time. We also continued burning the massive stump we started in the previous video. Thanks for following the journey!

    I've seen all manner of carpenters and wood workers do their thing with varying levels of competence. I like that you do it all from simple framing and siding to the intricate finish work. Even your baseboard and trim work is meticulous. Excellent work Samurai 😎😎 👍👍👍

    Please mount your fire extinguisher near the entrance. If a fire occurs it will obviously be at the stove. Putting the fire extinguisher there means you have to go towards the fire and heat just to get it. Better to move away and then attempt to approach and put out. Same thing if you are working outside and discover a fire.

    This reminds me of the remodel we did in our home 3 years ago. The cheapo MDF moldings sold in Korea were not up to my standards, having grown up in a Victorian house. Keep up the good work!

    When you build the fire wood storage bin, the short pieces are a PITA to stack and have little stability. To keep them from all falling out put a bar across the front bottom to keep the wood pitched or leaning towards the back or wall side. Then you can carry it in and out and not have to worry about imbalanced pieces falling forward and out of the holder. It also allows for simple and easy dumping of the dust and chips that fall off while filling/emptying.

    Recommendation, for what it's worth. Don't install the heat shield all the way to the floor. A little below the firebox to almost to the ceiling is all that's needed. That will allow air flow to keep the wall cooler by drafting from the bottom. I like the idea of the metal "hearth". It helps prevent hot coals and ashes from damaging or discoloring the floor.

    • @HandlebarWorkshops
      @HandlebarWorkshops 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Agreed. Also having that 45 degree in front of one of the corner "stud" that goes all the way to the floor will collect dust and other crap.

    for wood storage, and so you don't take up interior footprint space as much as possible, I would consider doing a small storage bin that can be loaded from the outside and accessed from the inside, and then just locked from both sides for security. It can serve as a bench on the outside since it will extend out past the house. just a thought - love the series!

  • @opuak
    @opuak 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Looking at you burning that stump.. Maybe you can drill some larger holes through it at "strategic" locations so that when you build a fire under it, the flames will start eating it like inside out and also if you make some perpendicular holes to the holes you already drilled, you should be able to get those behave like mini rocket stoves and that should help move it along :D

It would elevate the stove a bit and I don't think it would hinder the efficiency. Rusted gate steel doors to obtain that rustic feel lol.
