  • The Finn Hawk’s handle is two time injection molded. The first layer of high-impact polypropylene is strong, durable and highly weather resistant, while the outer layer (made of TPR rubber) has a whorled spiral pattern providing a food safe, comfortable and secure grip in even the worst conditions. The Finn Hawk is supplied complete with a slim line secure-ex polymer sheath with integrated belt loop.

      Really hard to improve on a mora companion. Especially when this is made in Taiwan and the Mora is made by Swedes.

    It's easy to dismiss this as a Mora clone, but I use Moras every day and I can see the difference here. I especially like the changes to the handle and I've had good experiences with Cold Steel's 4116 steel. Definitely want to pick up a few of these for various things

    A small diamond stone right where he was showing how to sharpen and a fire rod loop on the spine of the sheath would be amazing upgrades.

    I own one. Had it for around six months. It's a very good knife that doesn't get the love it deserves. I'm a big Mora fan, been using them for decades but this is better than a Companion and from me that is very high praise indeed.

    Just received mine in the mail, I have many knives for various tasks and years of using them frequently. This is an instant favorite. Cold Steel means quality. They have a great reputation. Its not a copy of another manufacturer its a knife that deserves its due and stands on its own.

    Just bought one at a store in Sweden and it is lovely to use. A own perhaps 30 knives of various bushcraft or universal or survival or hunting sort. This knife feels great bite and feels great in the hand. At prolonged use it is likely to feel good at most woodcraft and general purpose tasks (design is always trade offs). It will be excellent in the woods as companion. It also feels like at least three quarters tang. Great! Really Happy with the spine and the edge! Really Happy about the cryo, which lifts the steel a great deal I imagine. The quality control seems to be excellent. Really nothing bad about the quality. Fit and finish is great! Thank you!
    I must add I love the blade geometry, shape, thickness, bevel, everything. Also they way the sheath locks the knife is great!

    Lynn you are the best no matter what anyone says. I bought this knife recently and I love it, but my favorite knife I have bought from cold steel so far is the double safe hunter I use it for heavy use and everything In between, unfortunately I messed up the blade pretty bad trying to sharpen it with a automatic sharpener, but still keep up the good work love cold steel!!

    Make these with red poly handles and red sheath (perhaps with black over-molded grip). Blue would be nice as well.
    And offer the FW in Japanese SK-5 carbon steel as an option.

    "Mora copy". Yeah sure, you just forget that Mora company just copycatted Finnish Puukko (ancient design).

    • @wea69420
      @wea69420 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Puukkos have been around for so long that it's hard to even call Moras a copy; It's just a modern take on a puukko, much like this one. Not to mention that both of them tend to be excellent tools regardless lol.

    • @lalli8152
      @lalli8152 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@wea69420 Mora copied the norwegian telemark factory knives originally i think. Its bit silly to make big thing about "puukko" style knives. They are just generic nordic knives. Many finnish companies sort of copied the modern mora knives because they are cheap to produce. The vintage finnish produced knives tend to have higher edge bevels, and different blade profiles

    Hello! I had a problem with the knife Cold Steel Recon Tanto 3V - broken Kraton handle. It happened back in August. I contacted Cold Steel and distributors in Russia - they can not replace the knife and say that it can only be done by the manufacturer. It's been 5 months and I haven't received a refund or replacement or even an answer. Сold Steel sent only a regular letter with the address of the company, ignores e-mail messages and messages, comments on Instagram. Whether someone faced similar. Always heard about their warranty service is only good. Need your help. I sent them the hilt, but I don't know if it came to them or not.
    Best wishes, Kirill.
    Don't ignore, please.

    I have to say that I was so very exited about this knife when I first saw it. Then I crashed my head into my keyboard when I saw the sheath. I have three Morakniv kinves that I have had to cut the clip section off, because I am left handed. There is no left handed version of this knife, anywhere. I just have to stuff them into my pants or pocket. The knives themselves are the best and most comfortable blades ever made. Hands down, but the sheath is severely lacking in flexibility for various tasks.
    PLEASE REDESIGN A BETTER, universal, SHEATH FOR THIS KNIFE!
    It WILL sell!
    Be better than Morakniv!
    Godspeed!

      @@jhanks2012 Yeah.. It's not paint. Mora uses DLC coating. Regardless, I thought we were talking about the "15$ pieces of junk metal" which obviously aren't the black versions. Even if we were, they're still not too expensive. It's on you if you made an uneducated purchase, they're not forcing it down your throat. I personally don't want a black knife, and CS has a habit of covering their low end knives in black epoxy paint which needs to be removed by most people who aren't the tacticool type. You may think it's great, I see it as a shortcut.
