  • In this video, I take you through the basic setup of the electronics on the Thunder Tiger Raptor E550 FBL. These are the very basics needed to continue the setup process, and they will be refined as we get closer to finishing.
    One take-a-way from this is that the ACE GT5.2 FBL controller DID NOT COME PRE-PROGRAMMED from the factory as was advertised by Thunder Tiger. Well...it came pre-programmed, but for a different helicopter. It was programmed for an E325/E360. As I demonstrate, you are going to have to go through the GT 5.2 setup, item by item, and set it to the recommended parameters for the E550. Thankfully, the E550 manual comes with this configuration information. You can also find the full GT5.2 manual on my website. It's in the E550 section at everythingcpo.c....
    I am setting up an S.Bus system. I chose S.Bus because I liked the idea of one wire instead of seven running between my receiver and fbl controller. I am using a FrSky X6R and the Taranis transmitter. I will also have battery telemetry capability on this heli.
    Even if you aren't using S.Bus/FrSky/Taranis, the video as valuable setup information that can be applied to any system. While the menus and methods vary from system to system, the principles are the same.
    I also noticed that you can run up the motor BEFORE the GT5.2 fully initializes when you power on the heli. I was able to achieve this whether the Castle Talon 90 ESC was plugged into the receiver or the GT5.2. Because you can have power to the motor before your FBL controller is ready, that means you could theoretically have spinning blades with no servo control. Not saying it's a problem...but just pointing it out. This may be normal. I just never noticed that before on my other FBL heli.

    These Gyros fly amazing! I've had boot up issues with both the ones I've used.
    And now can't seen to get my Castle Edge Lite 50 to arm plugged into throttle port of my 5.1 but it works fine plugged into channel 3 of the X4R RX.

    Hello. I realize this is an older video, but I recently acquired this helicopter and having a hard time locating the GT 5.2 FBL controller manual online; do you still happen to have an electronic copy of it available?

      I don't. I looked around a bit online, and found a German version... perhaps you can find a way to translate it... personally I'd just use a translate app on my iPhone to translate things as I need it www.heliporn.at/download/8089_GT5.2_DE.pdf

    Hey man how do you like the GT 5.2? My first FBL gyro was the GT 5 and later GT 5.1. Then I switched to BeastX. I always loved the screen on the GT and and easy field editing.
    Which switch did you use for the gyro switch? I have a Taranis in the mail right this second and can't wait to get it.

    I have the same set up exempt for I run a Futaba radio. I got everything squared away and I'm flying. I'm trying to mess with the expos in my radio to make things a bit smoother. I did find when I moved my throttle up, the motor found a constant speed and stayed there. I can fly with collective management but I'd like more control over motor rpm. Haven't found anyone talking about this issue. Any thoughts? Great videos

    Great video CPO - really helped me out.Quick question @13:22 what does the R mean at the begining of each string of info. Is it reverse ? How do i get it to appear ? Cheers and Thanks Ant

    • @EVERYTHINGcpo
      @EVERYTHINGcpo  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Those Rs are for "Replace". In OpenTX when you want to have a switch make changes to a channel (via a switch for example) you can choose how the selection relates to the previous lines in the list. This is called multiplexing. Add, Multiply, Replace.
