    In this video, I take you through my tail setup. This is a continuation from the last E550FBL video where I was working on the cyclic servos and head setup. This setup takes much longer to explain than it actually does to do. : ) I did spend some extra time talking through tail pitch and how to understand basic principles in how your tail blades effect tail pitch and the rotation of the heli.
    In this case, I set my tail pitch at approximately 7 degrees (on the positive side) to offset main rotor torque. I also ensured that I had equal travel on both extremes of the rudder movement for consistency in flight.
    One thing I did notice after I put the video together... when you have your tail set up with that 7 degrees of pitch, the tail slider conveniently aligns with the pivot point on the tail control arm. You can see what I mean if you skip to 6:20 in the video. Look at how the tail pitch slider aligns with the pivot. Very cool. That's probably an easy setup shortcut...without having to worry about measuring tail pitch. Just align the slider to the pivot. Mechanically, that also makes perfect sense, because it will allow for consistency in both directions (similar to why we center servo arms).
    Anyway, I hope this is helpful! Thanks for watching.

    Awesome video! Thx sooooo much for the EXCELLENT explanation! I've watched quite a few tail setup vids and yours is in the top few. Great audio, great video, clear and concise explanation.

    Nobody mentions the 7 degrees off the hop. This was key!!!! 👊🏻

    As long as you have a small bit of counter pitch,with the slider dead even your good!! I used to be OCD with the tail too!! Gyros have come a long way,no need to set up in rate mode for the best performance any more too,as long as it doesn't blow out on hard moves,I'm cool!! You've come a loooooooong way,sheesh I've been gone to long!!LOL

    Excellent video!
    Your narration is clear as a bell, too many help vids have poor volume and or narration.
    My pitch slider lines up the same....
    Thanks for the info :)

    Spot on. Nicely done.
    A couple of extra notes. Generally speaking if you set the pitch lever on the gearbox to be 90degs to the pushrod then most models will give you that 7degs of right nose.
    However what you are really looking for is hands off hovering with the gyro in rate mode. This is the aerodynamic centre most gyros want. So if you are anal about setup you should go hover the model then run through the rest of the setup again.
    Some models due to the geometry of the linkage and setup the tail as you have gives very little left tail pitch. If all you are doing is basic aerobatics its not too much of a problem however ideally in this situation you want to offset the servo horn one spline to the right this will increase the figure for right pitch and give more throw of left pitch for the same limit value.

      Thanks, Ade. Also appreciate the extra feedback. I think tail setup has to be the most confusing part of heli setup just because it isn't as well documented as head setup. More tips and info = better chance of helping people get it right!

      There is a certain amount of working out what works best on your combination of model/gyro/tail blades. Each has their own set of conditions which work best. The most common problems are aerodynamic centre and servo horn length. Its important to get it as happy as possible then fine tune from there in the gyro as gyro settings like debounce can be used to mask mechanical setup issues but still give issues in other parts of the flight envelope.

    Sir;
    Thank you for your great videos, when I'll be ready to get me one RC, I will ask you for recommendation which one to purchase to a beginner in RC helicopters, Thanks

    Here is the question hope you can help me
    The old trex600 main blades spin the same direction of the new synergy that it will be clock wise but the tail blades spinning different the trex counter clock ,the synergy clock wise
    First independent of the way the tail blades spin the inputs on the stick should be the same right ? That’s mean stick to the left slider to the right and Vice a versa right or wrong?
    What way the tail blades should be pitch to , on the synergy 6 degrees to the left or right ? Looking the heli from the back
    Hope you can answer this question you looks very knowledge thanks

    Hello, I am looking for help;
    I got myself the Assault 450 Helicopter from Hobbyking (Flybarless System is the 'Turnigy 3D-H V2') The 3D-H is a copy of the Beast X (similar, even the same menu points etc.).
    Here's my problem: The tail rotor moves nicely but when I am at 10% of my Controller it got 100% of the tail rotor pitch. I am not able to fly, it is too sensitive. I tried to fix it on my Controller but it doesn't work. I even got the maximum pitch from my controller to 10% and it still doesn't change.
    If you know the solution to the problem, I'd be very thankful!

    I’m very new when it comes to helis a stop flying helis 8 years back and now I start again but I’m going from the old flybar to the new flybarless heli I have the synergy n5c
    I did al the build and set up I did try to fly it and I got a small crash do to at take off the heli start to spin to fast I’m sure I made a mistake on the topic you just explain
