    Thanks for watching. We have used and abused out Pit Boss Pellet Grill as you can see. It was time to do maintenance.
    We scraped inside and out. Then vacuumed it out real good. We did additional scraping and repeated the process several times. We then used an orbital sander with 80 grit sandpaper and sanded all areas we could reach. The areas we couldn't, we hand sanded. This was in the drum and outside of the drum. We degreased the whole grill inside and out, sanded and degreased again until we were satisfied with the results. Once dry, we taped everything up that did not need to get painted. We sprayed the black parts as needed using the paint listed below.
    Black=Krylon High Heat Specialty www.amazon.com/Krylon-K016180...
    or
    Black= Rustoleum Specialty High Heat Bar-B-Que www.amazon.com/Rust-Oleum-241...
    Copper Paint= Rust-Oleum Specialty High Heat Ultra Semi-Gloss Aged Copper Spray Paint. (I could not find this paint, Home Depot is suppose to carry it)

    So my son just gave me his 4 year old pit boss. I love in South Florida. If mine turns out half as good as you did I will be so happy

    Glad to have found your channel. Just got the xl grill today maybe in worse shape. I'm going to restore it as well, and what a coincidence I live in sc as well.

    Did you tape the firebox when you spray painted the inside? What else did you tape on the inside before painting?

      I tapped the thermostat but I did not tape firebox. I painted it and it burned off.

      I did, and it has held up well. I do wrap it with tin foil though to help protect it

    Have you had any grease fires?

      Thanks for watching and commenting. Yes I’ve had a couple, one pretty good one because I was cooking non stop and did not clean it out. Thank goodness it didn’t hurt my grill just burnt my probe and caused paint to peel.
      You had any?

    And just so you know if you go to the internet and type in pats for a pit those grill you can find anything you need to rebuild your smoker .don't go to the pit those website you'll probably pay more I bought a porcelum burn pot with igniter for less then forty dollars.a new control board,both fans and probably didn't have a hundred twenty-five in all off it and it was a perfect fit.wires and all matched up we're like you we cook several times a week and most are long cooks,butts,ribs,brisket smoked pulled chicken

    Pitboss recommended you painting the inside?

      Thanks for watching and commenting. They did not, I did tell them I was planning on it, they did not say don’t. It actually worked well painting the inside. I’m still using the same pit boss.
