  • A presentation by Director/ producer Hugh Welchman, describing the behind the scenes production process of the world’s first most eagerly awaited hand painted, animated, feature film. Drawn in the style of artist Vincent Van Gogh.
For those attending the Glastonbury Festival a 17 minute screener of Loving Vincent is to be shown on Friday and Saturday evenings followed by the Glastonbury Van Gogh Animation Challenge: an interactive mural painting experience which practically engages the festivalgoers! With personal guidance from four of the films team of eighty five painters.

Fully Agree. From Bangladesh. This film is better than Coco. Coco is good movie without doubt but this film reached a new height in animation film also. with more realistic story to tell and necessary for mankind.

it was an extremely beautiful film, just breathtaking. i was watching it on the television and my grandmother walked in, though she was supposed to be leaving, and she couldn't take her eyes off of it. it was *robbed* of an Oscar, but i'd like to think it's above the Oscars.

Would be impossible...photorealistic paintings on this scale.... never gonna happen. This looked hard enough.... I think it would be awesome... but man... the hours to put in to make something look photorealistic in 12 or even 24 fps... just seems to much. Plus... the work around using FX is nearly as good anyhow. Rotoscoping and such can look pretty cool.

Van Gogh saw and could paint was remarkable. At 3 feet away his paintings are holograms -- the spirals in Starry Night are later photographed by satellites and telescopes as galaxies -- that style of impressionism is still a very valid style for gifted artists

I’m so damn fascinated and moved by this film. Every time I see it feels like I’ve entered into Vincent’s world his vision and the way he looked upon the world. Its so damn deep filled with vibrant colors and every stroke he drew was like a deep line carrying the artist’s heart. My truly deep down thanks and love to the people who made this. And also the song in the end ‘Starry Starry Night’ was a total sum-up of Vincent’s life. Hats off to you guys this will always be nearest to my heart.

Thank you so much for sharing this. I am also an artist, and Van Gogh is one of my inspirations. In 2013, I was diagnosed with Meniere's disease, which I discovered Vincent Van Gogh probably suffered from as well. It gave me new insight into his life and his art. I understood the "movement" of his paintings because I was suffering from vertigo. I understood why he cut off his ear. My ears always hurt, and I lost hearing, and heard ear piercing noises, and felt like I was going crazy. I understood his depression. How terrible that in his day, no one knew about this disease and the poor man was put in a mental asylum! I also understood his suicide. While I had hope, and a reason to live (my precious family and my God) and fight, poor Vincent did not. There is currently no cure for this disease, and little research on how to cure it. My heart goes out to people who suffer from it. I was miraculously healed of this "incurable" disease in 2016. My prayer is that a cure is found for others. I am so looking forward to seeing this film. Van Gogh was a breathtaking artist. His work is pure magic. PS There is a play that I saw with Leonard Nimoy called "Vincent" which was excellent. I highly recommend it.

I will always remember the feeling it gave me and I wouldn't be able to experience the emotion with Coco. Coco may win the award, but Loving Vincent won over my heart and soul, and I believe that's what the director and actors wants more than an award that's manipulated.

I worked there this summer on a separate art project through my school with my Professor (at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA) doing a Virtuality Art piece that is still in the making. Meeting all of the wonderful people at CeTA was truly a great experience that I will never forget in my entire life. I learned a lot from them. I didnt get to finish watching this because i had to do something. But when i found this was gonna play on tv i instantly alarmed it. Im not like, crazy about painters but since i know who Vincent is i alarmed the movie. I like to paint when im bored or just feel like it(watercolor). And painters were a main focus on our arts class from june-august. The only painter and painting i knew from our lesson was literally Vincent and his painting, starry night. ❤❤

I am an artist and by my experience i can say what this painters have accomplished is extremely difficult and the result is such an exquisite work. I am still mad about the oscars... i am latina and honestly i wouldnt have cared about coco not winning.

Just yesterday, I watched this Van-Gogh-Dr.Who-Episode again (in which the paintings are morphing into movie scenes) - and today I stumble over the announcement of this movie as I walked by the cinema
