Imagine if the real Vincent saw this, could you imagine the happiness on his face and finally receiving the appreciation that he truly deserved when he was alive.
You can see exactly how that would play out in this scene from Doctor Who's season 5 episode 10 "Vincent and the Doctor". I can't watch the scene with Vincent in the future without tears shooting out of my eyes. th-cam.com/video/_jjWtUpqV9w/w-d-xo.html
Maybe. I think if we look to history about what happens when things change this is not the case. There are a lot of examples of people lashing out against new technology that improves something or creates a different way of doing things. Bob Dylan famously got booed when he started the 2nd set with an electric guitar instead of an acoustic one at the Newport folk festival in 1966. I think there is a better chance that Vincent would have lashed out at the movie and say that it is not real art because real art is created with paint on a canvas.
there is actually this false take that he wasn't appreciated at all during his life time. that is totally wrong, as he got the support from his fellow artists and brother.
I cried in the end. A movie so beautiful is only made once in a lifetime. I missed it in theatres here in India...but am glad I saw it on digital. A genuine masterpiece. Kudos to the director and the painters.

I’ve got tears down my face too, I thought I’d be the only one! I have such a deep personal connection to Vincent Van Gogh, both to his work and his personal life. Seeing it all come to life was so unexpectedly beautiful and moving it took my breath away. Happy tears!
I can't believe this film didn't win an Oscar not even a golden globe, just shows how downhill Hollywood is going, I'm not saying Coco is a bad movie. But its just another dreamwork film, loving Vincent was a very beautiful and made with painting that took 8 years to make.
Maximilian Kirk exactly! sure it didn’t appeal to kids but animation is for everyone! Coco is a decent movie, with the same animation style from Pixar but this was animated with paintings!
Three years now, and I'm still getting back to this movie as an authentic source of awe. I would be interested in the technical transformation of these paintings and how they generated the movements. I mean even in the sequences with little movements you can see the different brush marks. And where are the over 66.000 paintings stored? :D I love the film and the indefatigable work behind it! Just a pleasure to watch!
My daughter and I have just seen this movie today. What a wonderful, spectacular and brilliant production. Congratulations to everyone involved in making this movie an unforgettable experience. Big hugs from Melbourne, Australia.
I have been so eager for this movie since I first learned about it! It made me so very happy to know that people still even paint, and that they'd be willing to do a movie in this way. I would love a full length "Making Of" movie as well! That would seem to be an equally incredible story. I hadn't been keeping up with news about it lately.
