Production of Malawi's first commercial bamboo charcoal product; Bambriq

MICF has supported Afribam Ltd to develop its Bambriq product; a bamboo charcoal sold in the form of briquettes. The raw bamboo material is produced by the company on its anchor farm with seedlings also distributed to 18,000 out-grower smallholder farmers. The briquettes are sold wholesale and retail within Malawi and have the potential to transform the charcoal industry thus significantly reducing deforestation in doing so.
