Eric, get some cutting oil to use on bits, they will last longer on that drill press. I am betting it is just a loose wire in drill press where plug goes in. Merry Christmas to you and your team. 😊😊😊😊
Doing great Eric! Just friendly thoughts here, weld it all together for added strength. Add some straps diagonally from the top of the plate-front to the vehicle frame. And remember to eat too much pie after Christmas Dinner! DESSERT MOLECULES are very important for a man's health! 😀🎄🥧🦃
Should weld the angle iron to the winch plate, then weld the angle iron to the cat's frame, might want to add some sort of support coming up from the bottom to the winch plate and frame, just for safety sake. I did something very similar to my truck years back, it snapped off in the cold and flew almost 30 feet and smacked a tree. If someone would have been standing there, it would of been bad, real bad.
I just mounted an 4,500lbs winch on the boom of a 1950's(???) dually Ford truck converted to a crane 16' boom original winch mechanical chain drive a picture of the three-speed transmission Flathead 6. Was yard art heading to scrapers Facebook marketplace $500 bucks. Engine frozen clutch too as is transmission videos on my channel. Retiment project to keep me young at 70 years young😎😎😎😂🤣 been subs some years now. Tucker wrecker is Kool like my towable crane for Annual Classic Car show in my town. Future Christmas parades maybe pull a few engines in future. 46 amber LED marker lights. 3 sets of taillights 1 set at top of the boom with a mini strobe light. 2 Mimi strobe on roof left and right. Old fashioned sealed beam work floodlight.mounte to the rooftop too.
Hey Eric !! Are those case hardened bolts as soft bolts will sheer off when under a heavy load !!! Think I would have plug welded those other bolt holes as they are close enough to break out when winching heavy loads !! 🤔🙄 Quite a job,, but you ""GOT -R- DONE "" !!! Now, ""HAPPY HOLIDAYS "" to You & ALL Families & Friends !!! ""STAY SAFE & WARM "" !!! 🎄🎄🎄🥳🥳🥳👍👍👍👍👍
You can clearly see those are grade 8 bolts from TSC. A 1/2” grade 8 bolt shear rating is 12,700 lbs. 9/16 is 16,300 lbs. and that’s per bolt Also, case hardening has nothing to do with strength , never has ~never will
The job would have been much easier if your club would let you weld. That was a very creative way to use existing parts to get the job done. Try some lubricant on your drill bits. Helps them last longer and cut better.
I love you guys but do us a favor and concentrate more on camera angles so we actually see what your doing rather than awkward un-natural scripted segments that just don't work. 👍
You may not have the fancy tools, but you have the skill to get the job done anyway. There aren't many guys like you left.
That doggie is the best, what a good baby, she's the best!
Eric the Blacksmith , great job old school👍💪
Beautiful craftsmanship and well thought out.
Should lubricate the drill bits
He might not have oil
Y it went threw
It went threw.
And lub makes a mess
Good job Eric and Merry Merry Christmas To The Whole BSF Recovery Team. Hope you folks have an Awesome Holiday. Thanks for the video guy's 👋 📹 😀
Thanks, you too!
Great job can't wait to see it in action, thanks for sharing, all the best to you and your loved ones
That sure was a lot of work, Eric . Too bad you lost the use of the big drill press. Thanks for sharing, and stay safe 👍.
Great job on modifying an old winch plate to fit a modern winch.
Good job Eric.
Done is better than perfect.
A little oil would save the drill bit lol good job
I can’t wait to see the Sno-Cat and. The woods.
For future reference harbor freight sells a new mount plate for the bad lands winches. Us little off road recovery guys always get it done.

So much work Eric
Good grief Charlie Brown 😂. Just kidding. That’s a lot of work for a winch. God Bless and Merry Christmas 🎄
Expertly done
Maybe put the winch plate under angle iron would give 1/2 more hood Clarence . Just my 2 scenes . Merry Christmas and Happy new Year
keep the clips coming

Hello you guys and merry Christmas to you love the videos 😊
Merry Christmas to you too!

You have some fancy tools. The Milwaukee cut off saw. The tape measure that tells you half the distances.

Great job guys. Thank you 😊
Just wondering if you might need supports from top of tubing down to front end of angle, for down pressure?
G'day guys 🎉 merry Christmas 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Merry Christmas to you too

Be thankful for what you do have not what you don't have
It's a never ending battle. 😮
Dad used to say "If it don't work get a bigger hammer."
Eric put the angle iron on the inside of the rails. Just flip them.
At least the hood won't go to far forward

Would it have been easier to use 4inch angle iron?
Eric, your drill press has dropped a starting capacitor, mine did the same, easy fix.
What is rong with the handle on the hammer you hold so close to the top of the hammer
Not to be to critical, but I would of went a little thicker on the angle iron...
50 bucks at harbor freight will get you a winch plate already drilled. You can't build one for that price
Are you ok Friend.... We are concerned 🥺
🍻

It seems like a waste of good time and good money I mean, how often do you use the snowplow you’re just putting a lot into it for nothing that I see
You were obviously not a boy scout - better to be prepared and not need it than to need it and not have it!
It seems like a waste of a good brain. I mean how often do YOU use it? 🧐
Because that is NOT a Snow Plow. It is Tracked Recovery Vehicle. There is no Plow on it...
Mara is going to be thrilled that her favorite drill press stopped working. lol.
