No more hanging toilets, no more water tanks up high, no more boilers, no more trees growing out of the brickwork. That is the end of one phase all right.
Looks like could be coal fired boiler ??? I have worked on them that were converted to gas . Extremely inefficient by today’s standards . There is nothing more comfortable than radiant heat !
Congrats Dan, Nick & Brian on removing the last reminder of ‘old’ chateau. Now the chateau will be reborn with Dan’s vision. Have been here since the beginning and almost never miss an episode.
Now that you've saved the chateau from being a ruin and re-created the roofs, rhis feels like it's become a whole different project. Looking forward to seeing all that entails.
Its so thrilling to see the basement back to original state the Mason is doing a superb job there and good to see you assigning other professionals to undertake work
Removing that old boiler was a monumental task and removing the old iron pipes was also some hard work! Great job of the Chateau Team getting all this done! Merry Christmas to you all and a good night!
Foundations are very important, so it's good to see the basement receiving all this attention and added stability. Can't wait to see the basement all nice and ship shape. The floors down there really don't look too horrible considering what they had piled on top of them at the start... But you guys are doing a fantastic job!
It makes you think of the staff that would have worked at the Chateau when it was first built, how that basement area would have been immaculate and well-tendered, not to mention the staff that were resonsible for keeping it so. It's a pleasure and a privilege to see the restoration unfold.
When I first started watching you (early in your endeavor) I admired you for being so full of hopes and dreams. But, I really didnt think you would make it this far. I am so proud of you. You have given me inspiration on little projects in my life. When I start to feel overwhelmed, I just think of you and laugh.
It's relaxing watching you guys defy death on the underground level instead of those frightening heights that had me holding my breath. You three make my day!
When the Chateau is fully sealed, insulated, powered, with running plumbing will be an incredible day. Amazing progress Dan and friends; just amazing to see what people can do through shear determination.
I like your design choices to turn the basement into a living space rather than storage, utilities and a general dumping area/shed. It will be amazing when the mason has restored the walls.
Wonderful Nick and Brian, Wonderful !!!!!!!!!!!!! all the massive old boiler and pipes and rubbish are now all out of the basement. Wonderful Dan !!!!!!!! Wonderful !!!!!!!!!!!!
Good morning team What a huge crazy but amazing mission … She’s finally free of the old crappy stuff 👍🙌😇 Her scrap metal is making you beer money for Christmas ☺️ Soo onwards and now upwards From covering in the windows to stop the weather from getting to pull down and put back floors ….. I can’t wait 💃 See you tomorrow ❤
Well done Dan, Nick and Brian and the four legged assistants. Huge job removing the boiler, but what an achievement. Merry Christmas to you all from a very hot Melbourne, Victoria, 🇦🇺 Australia.
Can see you traveling the world giving lectures about, motivation, dedication, planning, friendship, stress, determination. How proud you all must feel! I look forward to the book series! 🧑🏻🎄Seasons greetings from New Zealand….
The little farm house kitchen turned out very nice. Of course decorating the chateau will be on a much grander scale. Hope they cover a lot of walls with the massive wood pannels, and giagantic fireplace mantels for a very masculine look.
Good afternoon from Texas 🇨🇱 hope that your day is going well! I always have to listen for Brian's joke, and now I am in love with the Riley! It's awesome!
The dogs terrify me (in case they get injured) and make me laugh in equal measure as they HAVE to be involved in everything that happens at ground level 😂🐾🐾🐾❤❤❤
Great achievement by Nick and Brian, and not a very simple task. Good to see Brian wearing the mask. It’s amazing how much metal and pipes were connected to that old boiler. Brian’s quip “That’s a little overkill for a salt shaker” Classic! 😅 The restoration work now begins, floor by floor, and of course finishing the roof. Good to hear you might have some help with that job. 👍
Must have been a nightmare, crazy how heavy things can be. Do you know if they wear masks most of the time or was it just something in the boiler room that was a cause for concern?
@ Yes, that’s a necessity but Dan wants to use the original frame design (there’s a video from a year or so he did on that very thing) and add a little more design touch to it, plus double pane glass. Just covering them up for now with a better form of plastic and securing them from the storms, along with the doors is a must to keep it as dry as possible until the real windows and doors are installed.
@ I have seen Dan and Brian use a simpler mask other than the one Brian wore today, at different times. Nick not that I can remember other than the hockey mask he uses for various things and the welding mask.
@@donmorrow1923 I saw Dan had one at the very beginning most of the time but not so much as of late. Boiler pipes may have been full of coal dust and soot so it's probably best to take extra care
Out with the old and in with the new! The Chateau de Chaumont i s starting to feel better each day. And now that you have electricity it will be warm again!🌞🍻
Goodbye old boiler. Hello nice clear space to work. Loved hearing some of the game plan going forward. Can't wait to see it getting done, one bite of the elephant at a time. Big BTW, the Riley sounded as beautiful as it looks yesterday! So happy to ride along for the little spin down the road. What a beauty. 💙
Dan, you have really really really made such a big impact on what will be, once again, a beautiful building. Your leadership has made it so easy for Nick and Brian to be at their best and be sooooooooo integral to your vision becoming a reality. Happy Happy Christmas to you all!
That is a huge deal. It is so much easier to modernize around the old stuff as I know to my cost having bought a “renovated” old house and found a few catastrophes. Congratulations for persevering to remove all those old bits.
If you install a heatpump, look for more recent models that have inverter technology in it. that will give more headroom in terms of operating temperatures over the year, while keeping down the use of backup features. most heatpumps will be dimensioned too large for summer use in old buildings and operate only between 100% and perhaps 30%-35% of their rated capacity. there are models with inverters technology though can dial down to 10% of rated capacity. that also keeps down the use of the fallback electric heating element (like the ones in a kettle). (eg. a 16kwh rated heatpump with inverter tech can dial down its output to about only 1.6kwh in spring or fall).
The restored stone work is beautiful. Cant imagine how the whole basement will look with restored stonework. That foundation walls must be close to a metre thick!
I have a miniature painting which I think is from the 1930’s which I bought at an antique shop in Arundel in the 1980’s which is supposed to be of one of the Riley brothers. I have researched the brothers online and out of all the brothers I think (if indeed it is true) it could be Percy. The painting is in storage in the shed! I haven’t seen it in quite sometime but if my husband does get around to tidying the shed, I will take a photograph of it for you and see what you think.
Amazing channel I absolutely am hooked can't wait to see this place finished because I've been here since the minute you bought you have a great team behind you
So glad the gents did not get injured with that pipe swinging free. Well done removing that metal beast. It is going to be be beautiful in that basement when you get done with it.
12k of your followers are watching the hardest working guys on Utube.Wishing all of you a Merry Christmas 🎄 🎁...HELLO 👋🏻 from Alhambra Southern California 🌴
This is AMAZING, Dan. Do you remember walking into this the first time? Do you remember digging by hand and wheel barrow all the stuff off the floors and walls and the dirt? The patterns on the floor and the surprise there were tiles under there? The feeling of just starting a huge climb. Taking that first step, and here you are. So wonderful!
I figured a year ago, it would never be this far along. I knew Dan was set to do it but I never thought it would be dried in and the basement cleared to be redone. It amazes me! Great job on accomplishing the impossible!! Magicians all of you!
No more hanging toilets, no more water tanks up high, no more boilers, no more trees growing out of the brickwork. That is the end of one phase all right.
I did like the trees 😊
@@justjane2070they were fun to look at, but I am glad they weren't in my house. Well done Dan & team.

Me thinks it’s not the same place. Somewhere along the way they did a switch-a-roo.
You mean none of the above left what we gonna watch now then 😂😂no lad's you have done a fantastic job can't wait for the next chapter 😁
I am so proud of the three Musketeers, but especially to Dan for tackling the Chateau on his own for so long. Bless all of you.
❤
Congrats Dan, Nick & Brian on removing the last reminder of ‘old’ chateau. Now the chateau will be reborn with Dan’s vision. Have been here since the beginning and almost never miss an episode.
Well said! Having followed Dan the gardener all this way, I won't be stopping now. There are so many projects, so many possibilities.
Now that you've saved the chateau from being a ruin and re-created the roofs, rhis feels like it's become a whole different project. Looking forward to seeing all that entails.
Watching this, I can't help but thinking about the chore to wire and plumb this place. We'll all learn quite a bit about plumbing before this is over.
I hope there is a place that takes that boiler and pays for the scrap. That thing was heavy!
I'm just wondering how they did get that thing in there in the first place....
Never say never Dan!! That little digger has a deep and meaningful relationship with that basement 😂
I absolutely love the work the mason is doing. What a beauty the chateau is becoming again.
Foundations are very important, so it's good to see the basement receiving all this attention and added stability. Can't wait to see the basement all nice and ship shape. What a team. Thank goodness Nick has all the correct safety gear. Fabulous work be done by everyone. ❤❤❤❤
Looks like the Chateau was built around this beast! Credit to you all for your perseverance.
Great job guys got that Monster 💪 out of the basement. ❤ I in Michigan 👍🎄🎁🎄
Dan…your little quips about Brian and Nick are hysterical 😂😂
Three men and a boiler…😂
Dan is still the man..👌

you have all done wonders in 18 months i love watching the chateau returning to life

Can not wait to see what all these rooms will be used for in renovation.
Yes…I have seen Indiana Jones. Also, that boiler is a very big R2D2!
😂😂😂
I like your design choices to turn the basement into a living space rather than storage, utilities and a general dumping area/shed. It will be amazing when the mason has restored the walls.
I don't think its going to be a living space. I would imagine Dan will probably sell the property when its completed so it needs to be presentable.
I doubt it’s living space, just clean and tidy

Wow, you'll have to have a plaque in honour for those who have worked on the Chateau, Nick, Brian & Calvin taking the headline !!
And young Gandolf (Cameron) who helped Nick in the early days when floors were collapsing.!
Or at least their own rooms lol!
Don't forget to include the mason.
Good to see one of you wearing a mask! Great work to get rid of the old boiler👏👏
WOW!! WOW!! WOW!! BASEMENT LOOKS GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Getting lots of things checked off is so satisfying
Such good work by all of you! Happy Christmas!
After this I am extremely interested to see how plumbing this place will go.
What a beast that was to remove!
No more toilets. No more heaters. No more Boiler.
😂😊😅😮
I’m going to miss all of the chateau oddities, no hanging toilet etc etc. Give the guys a great Christmas meal feast
Love the 4-legged supervisors. 🩵💜

That boiler just didn't want to leave. Best part....."No. No! Have you ever watched Indiana Jones?" Great job gentlemen. 🤣

As bad as Brian’s jokes though the duck still cracks me up.
