Notice how 5609's engine sounds different than most other C40LFR's. It makes that whine and that you'd hear on an XN40, plus the high idle sounds just like an XN40's. Another unit that I've ridden that has this type of engine is 5527
Even though both buses have the same standard Cummins ISL-G engine, I can definitely hear what you meant about it sounding like an XN40. Personally, I prefer the sound of the Near Zero engine found on the suburban buses and most of the 7500s

@@ocbusfan Yup, I do too. I heard that they sound like that because they have a newer version (but not the NZ) of the ISL-G than other units.
