I don't know this guy's name but Knuckle Tips is a great builder and innovator and as a man with 9 1/2 thumbs I salute this work after watching just 3 videos. Well done young man.
Artemis was a key feature for this clip. She's clearly trying to comfort you since you're in the garage talking to yourself (as far as she's aware) and showing concern. Cats are awsome 😍 Great video Johnathan. 👍😎
Its the Wing that required the most hanger time. Flaps , slats, and spoilers all timed with torque tubes and actuators, control by computer or manual. Get it worng and you will have flap/slat lock out. Avionics however is the number one reason for a Down Tomcat. Nice build. It appears she is still a beast even in smaller scale.
Great job as usual, but I have a tip time for you; instead of diagonal cutters, try flush cutters...no sharp little ends on the zip ties. Working on cars and truck, those little ends are like scalpels reaching in. Save some skin, try the flush cutters!
Very nice explanation of the wiring and how to protect them with snake skin. Just for reference, I use heat shrink which has a very strong glue on the inside and when heated to shrink the tubing, the glue activates and is very strong. Zip ties are great but I have found they can hang up on the connector if required to move like the swing wing. Just food for thought. As always a great video and looking forward to seeing you in the new shop. Thanks for all you do!!!!!
I would sand that edge of the carbon fiber brace down to smooth the ridge so it does not cut into the snake skin, I might even put a piece of electrical tape to limit the ware.
Nice to see a commercial plane come with RDS (Rotary Drive System) on some surfaces. I used RDS on my 1/5 scale 77" Stearman, because I wanted the clean scale look on the ailerons.
The Flap uses an RDS system. Awesome! Can't get it any better than that. So much torque to the flap with that method. In order for the play to be at its minimum, the pocket in the Flap has to be snug but not tight.
Thanks! It was a busy weekend buy by the end of the weekend we have a workable space. I spent some time just sitting, thinking and pondering the new space! It's pretty awesome.
When I ordered my wings Skymaster didn't send the steel angle piece or bell crank. I like how it works and clearly its a good design compared to external. Enjoyed the live the other night and excited for you to get in the new shop!
That's odd that it wasn't sent. i'm assuming the receiver shaft is in your wing? It was a long weekend of organizing but it's a great space that going to be a work in progress but it's awesome!
@@thelightersideofrc actually neither the receiver shaft or bellcrank were in it but everything else was. The joys of interpretation! Im still working on getting them but I suspect Ill end up with an external set up. Hopefully your getting settled!
That is indeed a sexy wing. Cool video. I have a question for you from your experience: What is the impact of receiver to servo cable length on servo performance for large rc airplanes. When you get to like 2meter+ on cable length, does it result in significant voltage drop that the servos may not work. Thank you
Thanks Anar. there is probably some voltage drop on long cable runs. That's the reason I use high quality Powerbox Maxi wire. Best servo wire in my opinion.
I thought about that but it's full contact with the receiver portion through all positions of movement. It's not just the tip that is contacting the receiver.

@@thelightersideofrc Jonathan hope you don’t yell much but here a New RC Jet to Build. I am a long away from getting one of these. JEEMO TURBINE GLIDER On TH-cam and These Are Very Fast . Hope you Like. Gory
Yeah kinda sucks they get all the benefits from our builds, AKA more sales and money while we get all headaches. I had to apply hysol inside to remove the slop around the shaft, I also rounded the end of the metal shaft. There should be a set screw on the servo coupling, to hold the metal shaft.
Love everything you do!!! 2 suggestions thou, your audio often sucks (the worst is the hollow/echo in your shop), please get yourself a wireless mic that you can clip on your shirt, also your camera doesn’t really handle focus very well, maybe get a vlog camera like the SONY DC-ZV1B CAMERA CREATOR/VLOG BLACK and my suggestion for the wireless mic would be the new DJI mic…
Thanks! For a couple months now I have been using a Rhode wireless setup. battled interference with my camera for a few videos but have it sorted now. I would like the new DJI wireless setup buy not available in Canada yet. Just got my camera late last year and not overly impressed with it. I'm most frustrated with it only recording about 8 min then shutting down due to heat.
Hello. I would like to know if you have blueprints of this plane, su27 to share or sell because those that exist on the net do not leave room for interpretation for a construction in balsa wood. I'm looking for something alternative for those who know how to build. If you could think about it´s please send me another mail or please send me your particurarly mail to think your idea thanks a lot for your answer .I´m so glad
Thanks for watching the series and all the support! When you get a min, check out my site! www.thelightersideofrc.com/
you should move the cap on the side of your banner ... the camera angle makes you loo like you have a mohawk that isnt attached on the top lol

You got that right! There is a lot of mixes and conditions that will be setup in the radio to make all of it work and not interfere.

I will have to check those out. I have been bitten by the sharp ends as well! I feel the pain!😂
@@thelightersideofrc you can also file/grind your diagonal cutters so they cut the zipties flush.

Love ur videos. On snake skin try shrink tubing with adhesive built into the tubing. Works awesome. Great job
Thanks for the tip!
Great looking Tomcat and your build is Awesome as usual!👍👍
Thanks 👍

Thanks Richard!

good removal and.....don't forget THE cat !
HAHA. Thanks Philippe!
I love your cats !
HAHA. Thanks! They are fun........sometimes.
That is an interesting flap mechanism! I would think it would cut down on the stress of the servo as well.
Yea I think so. It's a very even distribution of force on the servo. I thinks it's pretty smart!

Question about the flap rod: Won't it scrape and wear on the inside of the flap? Would rounding the tip of the rod help reduce wear?

I meant TOOL NOT GUN don't want to scare the other side.....
😊
What brand crimp gun do you use?
The blue one from Powerbox/Dreamworks RC

Where do you get your snake skin from?
Generally add it to my dreamworks orders buy typically electronic stores also have it.
@@thelightersideofrc thanks!!!
How much something like that cost?
Most large twins like this are going to come in around 25K USD
I emailed sky master they said the wing sweep is by manual servo switch, is this true?
The wing sweep mech uses Acutronix Linear accuators which are controlled by a servo channel
