You are giving us a lot of helpful specs and information. Nice price point. Nope, I wouldn't test out my quilt at -4 degrees either. Thanks for the review on this quilt.
Hi! Crow, Quilt looks so great to keep me warm inside of my tent especially for winter season, your channel is great! Especially for backpacking, showing the wonderful nature around, I love it!
Looks comfortable, very much needed when hiking or camping! Glad you made a review with that, we learn a lot about the features! Thanks for the review!❤
Great info & specifics! No doubts ur son will get a ton of use from that. With a kid in college, i am always grateful for budget friendly options! Thanks Crow!
Love this quilt best one for the price and imo best one on the market at 30 degrees comfort from what I've tested. Plan on using mine for some local thru hikes in Maryland
it sounds like a great quilt, you make me want to buy it. I like the water resistant feature. Sleeping warm is so important to me. I add a similar quilt like this inside of my sleeping bag, wrap it all around and then, with my sleeping quilt or bag, I am good to go.
I bought one recently. I got the large because it was on sale for less than the regular. I'm 6'-1" and the regular would have been large enough. I haven't tried it in realy cold temps yet, but I find it very warm and very well made. Two drawbacks - no storage sack is included, and the stuff sack is very slippery. For unstuffed storage, I bought an inexpensive folding mesh laundry hamper on Amazon. I already had a compression stuff sack, so I'll use that for packing. TIP - For new down items, throw them in the dryer with no heat, and add 3 clean tennis balls. Let it run for 30 minutes to really fluff up the down. This also works to remove chemical odors from some Chinese down products (I had to do that with a sleeping bag a few years ago).
Nice video review on this quilt. It's a great value and a great performer. I've had this same quilt for almost a year now and I really like its performance. I've had it down to 26F and slept comfortably with a 150 merino wool baselayer and a wool hat and using a sleep pad with R5.5 rating. I am a warm sleeper so it works for me nicely. The key to a quilt in cold weather is having an appropriate sleep pad as well as ensuring that you keep the edges of the quilt tucked in so cold air doesn't come under the quilt. On the ISO ratings, Comfort is generally a good guideline for cold sleepers while Limit rating is a good guide for warm sleepers.
Appreciate this awesome comment! I agree, the key is the sleeping pad. I have been so impressed with this pad. It is amazing quality for the price. Appreciate it! Crow✌️
That looks exactly like my UGQ Quilt! I went with Cincinnati Bengals colors so this quilt would have been perfect... AND saved $100. That is a great budget option!!
Crazy, I almost bought this guy off Amazon. It is a steal or it was before Crow spilled the beans! JK Crow. 😜🤣 But seriously you really do your research and I can tell, I respect the hell outta that bro. Hope to see you in 22. Happy Trails 👣
Appreciate it! Yeah, I love this quilt. Amazing price. And well made. The price has come down several times. At first they were out of stock. You are right…it is a steal…😊✌️
Thanks for your video. I've just ordered the blue version and can't wait to try it. I live down under so it should be a good 4 season quilt down here. The black just looked too much like a trash bag.
Good deal! The blue sounds nice. When I ordered mine, that was the only option. Hope you like it. I have gotten good use out of mine. Appreciate ya! Crow✌️
Hello; Backpacking Quilts are almost unknown here in Norway, Europe. But I must say that it looks like a good solution for a comfortable sleeping system out in the wild! Low weight and plenty of space while tossing around in sleep. So I must take a look at quilts and see if they are possible to purchase in my place! Thanks for a good review and hope your son will be warm and happy using the Moondance!
Appreciate it my friend! I can understand, I’m your climate, where traditional sleeping bags would be more comfortable in the weather. This quilt works well in a mile climate, like the Southeast US. It is a great quilt for the money. 😊✌️
I am also in the southeast an in the market for a new quilt my wife uses the revelation but thanks to this video I think I’ll trade off having a little extra weight and saving some money thanks for the review
Great video! It does concern me, that this quilt is called a 20°, based on it's limit rating. I wish there was a standard all companies had to follow, as not to confuse newbies. Someone could easily assume they would be comfortable down to 25° if they didn't understand the ratings. Still, it looks like an awesome quilt! Had Todd and I not have ordered Cedar Ridge quilts, the Featherstone would definitely have been a contender. Look forward to your review, after using it.
It is a great quilt. They call it a 25 degree quilt and I actually got it down to 25 degrees and was comfortable. The price is incredible, compared to many of the companies. By limiting the options…they save on cost of production. I was very impressed with the quality. Appreciate ya! Crow✌️
That’s actually the most common rating used for bags and quilts. UGQ is one of the few that uses the comfort rating for its advertised rating. It’s the most important number to research when shopping for a bag or quilt. Thanks for this review, just this week my 12 year old son said he wanted a quilt after we camped and this fits the bill!!
@@zachcherry8221 I was torn between getting a UGQ and an EE, but the fact that the UGQs are comfort rated was definitely the deciding factor. Love my Bandit 20°.
@@elisedietz3846 same here; it was a game changer for me. I had one night in a very humid 20 degrees that was rough, but outside of that it’s been an amazing piece of gear.
Great video. Im.a seasoned backpacker and I have tons of gear but I just bought this quilt today the LW blue and yellow color on sale for 190. I normally buy real high end gear like hilleberg tents etc. I love quailty not the prestige. I just feel real good when I use my well made gear. I've never used a quilt before but I'm trying out new combinations of gear. I looked at alot of quilts and pricing and stats and reviews etc etc. Normally I'd go straight for the best. But looking heavily at this quilt it was hard to look away. In the end I thought this is perfect. It has an authentic ISO rating not just made up temp rating. It's 850 fill weighs 1.58lbs. Ykk zip. Good water resistance protection. Baffles. Good looking too. Etc and it comes in a nice LW size. Etc etc I cudnt find anything wrong with it!! So why spend 400 to 500 for its rivals.!? It's a great great quilt. The tech specs r phenomenal. And no bad reviews. I think people r shocked and don't have a bad word to say especially cuz it's 219 and under in price. Thank-you for a great review. I subscribed tonight. Its a phenomenal product..
Awesome comment! I felt the same way. I wanted a quilt for my son and didn’t want to break the bank. Featherstone is a good company. I have emailed back and forth with the founder. He truly wants to make quality gear for people without breaking the bank on price, so people can get outside. Appreciate you watching my friend! Crow✌️
Great review Crow! I was thinking about this one for budget gear load out video but it just slid out of contention. I would have you consider the OV 30 deg stormloft quilt. Similar temp rating, price and sizes for about 20 ozs for the large. Nice content! 👍 Really enjoyed it!
It is always great to have some 'budget options' - I went through the same thing w/my daughter in regards to helping her w/a hammock set up, prior to college. Of course, I think it is mostly used at present to 'hang out' w/friends and they even have hammock stands set up around campus. She is in the NC Mts., so she doesn't even have to leave campus to get out on trail.
Man, that would be awesome to live at a college campus, where I could go to hike anytime…wish I had thought of that when I was I college. Yeah, this is a great quilt. Awesome price and quality. Crow✌️
I've been considering this vs Hammock Gear 30 degree quilt. I have a 15 degree mummy bag that is just too warm for me in temps above 35 degrees.I like how you can open up a quilt on a warmer high sierra summer night when temps can be in the 40s. Have you reviewed Hammock Gear Quilts?
No, I don’t own a HG quilt. I thought about one when I bought this one. But, I ultimately got this one. It is a great buy for the money…great quality! Crow✌️
At this point in time 6/12/23 this quilt is so much more expensive that it made more sense for me to get a zen bevy 25. Zenbivy wont make something unless it feels nice in the hand and i love that about them. I got the xl which is quite a bit bigger than my tent floor and its 2 lbs.
So, down is much more compactable. You can compress it and fit it better in a backpack. It is also lighter than synthetic. The higher the grade of down, the lighter. The only downside…it cannot get wet. If it does, it will not keep you warm. Crow✌️
@ASTHECROWFLIESHIKING, which is my only hesitation living here in South Alabama, or as I like to refer to it, a freaking rain forest. I'm not sure about north AL, but it sometimes rains here every single day.
the more I look, the more I want to try a quilt. I've looked at sleeping bags to replace my 30yr old bags I have, but even 20 degree bags are sitting at nearly 4 pounds (same weight as my current 0f bags) but even synthetic quilts are 2-3 pounds. I just need to get out enough to justify the cost.
As previously stated, I've ordered one from good old Amazon. Taking delivery in 2 weeks. The way I intend to get around very low temperatures is to use this quilt in conjunction with a Thermarest Corus 20 with 650 fill power. As I found out in the UK winter of 2021/22 the Thermarest didn't cut the mustard on its own. So in early 2022 I paid $100 for a One Tigris synthetic mummy shape quilt, it did the job keeping out the cold combined with the Corus 20 but the pack size is bulkier and heavier than this moondance 25. Take it easy atb Taff 🤠👊
Good idea! I think you will be pleased with it. I line your idea of double laying. I know those UK winters look amazingly cold…I would freeze my butt off…😂✌️
Where you from I like the accent, that's a proper American accent...Man I've been going to get this quilt for ages, its always A pain buying from the US we get hammered with expensive postage and VAT tax and import tax in the UK. I wish they would sort a good trade deal with the US so we could buy competitive. What kind is the back pack it looks a nice pack?
The backpack is a Hyperlight Mountain Gear (HMG) packs. It is Dyneema and I have really liked it. It works well. Yeah, this quilt has worked well for me. I love it. Appreciate ya! Crow✌️
I love their tents. If only they could get the weight down on them about 2 pounds to 3 pounds I would use mine more regularly. I use their tent on basecamp trips. The moon dance is a good quilt, in my opinion. I find I use the Moon Dance or the Hammock Gear top quilt more than any of my others and the wife the Paria Outdoor 15 quilt
Great options. I saw their tent. It looks amazing. Yeah, that quilt has been great for me. I have seen that Paria one as well. Looks like an excellent choice. Thanks for watching this one. Crow✌️
@@ASTHECROWFLIESHIKING yes, sir. Enjoy the content here. And, yes, good products for the price range of the equipment. Thanks for sharing the views and allowing us feedback. Appreciated!
Yeah, great quilt. I’m glad I found it. I have seen the price go a lot lower on Amazon! The regular version went down to $168 a few times. It is very similar to the EE Revelation. Just not as many options.
Hammock Gear Economy Burrow has a pretty similar price to this and allows some customization. Long wide 20deg with drawstring and pad straps is $230, but you have the option to select color, length, width and temp rating. I don’t own one, so I’m not advocating for it. Just pointing out you can get a quilt with some customization at a similar price.
Good point. I looked at the HG quilt. I think they are quality products. I have now seen the Featherstone…sale may have gone off…but, it was down to $168 for the regular one. Anyway, great quilt. Either one, HG or Featherstone would be a great option. Appreciate ya! Crow✌️
Great review! Some constructive feedback would be to not use abbreviations without explanation. You have plenty of time to learn about down ratings, and why this particular quilt has the rating that it does, before filming. You would provide more value to your audience. Philosophically it is way more effective to have one person do the research and inform others, then for one person to ask the question and others go and do the research. Also, when you make it a point that the quilt is very compactible I as an audience member expect to see this demonstrated. Preferably in relation to some other familiar item with a known size. Nice shot location, and clear speech. Good audio 😊 Best regards,
Appreciate it very much Tom-Andre. I will remember all of these great points for the next video I do. It is great to have some feedback. I will definitely use this! Appreciate it. Crow✌️
Yeah, super price and the quality is basically the same as my EE revelations…for a fraction of the price. Hope you are well. Stay yourself…stay happy. 😊🤟🏻

No ducks are left completely naked when they harvest the down for making these blankets/quilts… and we know how embarrassing it is to get caught with a 0* rated product

Wish I could use it but I'm allergic to down
Ouch! Yeah, that is a game changer. Crow✌️
I like this one for the weight and temp rating. price is right!
Crow✌️
How do you repack it lol it's difficult
Thanks for watching. It packs down very small.
Crow✌️
Pretty good price on this Crow. Not bad.
Yeah, super price and the quality is basically the same as my EE revelations…for a fraction of the price. Hope you are well. Stay yourself…stay happy. 😊🤟🏻
L46 greetings from your friend watching from Hong Kong. Oh! La! La! What a lovely and fantastic camping trip my dear friend. The place was absolutely stunning and great for a day camping adventure. You got your expensive stuffed for your awesome adventure. Enjoy the nice weather, the amazing scenery, the beautiful lake and more above so the awesome forest park. Stay safe and have a wonderful day ahead and more power. Nice watching your adventure till the end. Sub and ring the red button as well.😊
You are so kind! This is an amazing quilt. I will be using it, and my son, for many trips. Crow✌️
Good product! About 200$ for a quilt with a built-in draft collar is really cheap!
It is really well made and the price is right! Thanks for watching this. Crow✌️
The price must depend on what country your located. In Australia this quilt is expensive and Sea to Summit are a lot cheaper then this.
Interesting. Thanks for letting me know that. I had no idea they were a different price in different countries. Thanks for watching it. Crow✌️
We All Want Top Notch Gear At A Cheaper Price...Know I Do...
Absolutely! Thanks for watching it. Crow
Got mine today. Your quilt Looks Like it is overstuffed. I am a Bit disappointed about the Low Loft my quilt has.
Interesting….I just ordered mine from the website. No over stuff. I have been pleased with it so far. I wonder if they changed the design…?
No ducks are left completely naked when they harvest the down for making these blankets/quilts… and we know how embarrassing it is to get caught with a 0* rated product
😂🤟🏻
