- As the saying goes "Better late than never", this video should have launched a few weeks ago but life got in the way and then I got ill.....all explained in the video.
This video launches my free prompts as a huge thank you for helping me achieve 70K subscribers, it means a lot to me and I wanted to give you all something as a thank you gift.

‘Mark making’ is taking a tool of your choice. Make marks by a scrape, skip, swirl, scribble in the wet paint on your paper design. Use a comb, fork tins, old credit card, chop stick, end of a paint brush, end of a paper roll, craft spatula, bottle cap, bbq silicone brush at $ tree. When I shop at $ tree I look for items that will make marks. Have fun.

Uncle Art’s business was to create jewelry from the labels off old tin containers. The new life that he created for others was one the could have only imagined before meeting him. So,,,, that’s what I could write on the page facing the collage…. PS I actually did have an Uncle Art, but he raised mink and ermine,,,

I saw your prompt idea on Gayle Agostineli's channel. I downloaded the prompts and made a page. My five prompts were ribbon/ticket, romance, male, date and yellow. It was a hilarious experience. As I was cutting the prompts up to place in a plastic bag, I noticed the associative nature of the prompts. If there was a color, there were other color prompts as well. I saw the female prompt when I was cutting and saw the male prompt also. Anyway, when I saw the male prompt my brain immediately excluded female because it was a separate prompt from male. Then romance came out of the bag. I panicked. How to show male romance without a female. So, I went for the comradeship of soldiers and found a photo of a couple of WWII soldiers on a train getting ready to leave for the Army. They had their arms across their shoulders. Next, I found a poem about comrades in arms to give some sort of explanation for the photo.
Here is where collage should come into play. You have mentioned you are a storyteller. I don't see the use of junk journaling or collage if there is no story being told. With the photo and the poem fragment I had my theme: World War II soldiers and their sacrifices. For the ticket I found a French combat train ticket. For the date I created a title banner that read "Off to War - Sept. 22, 1941". For the color yellow, the photo of the soldiers on the train was sepia-toned. I added a yellow photo filter to it through Photoshop. As I was thinking of photos that would tie in with the theme of the page, I thought of scenes I've seen of soldiers saying goodbye to their girlfriends in train stations. This was when I realized I could add a female for the romance prompt. I found a photo of a soldier holding his girlfriend as she wiped tears from her eyes. In order to add more interest to the page I found a photo of a ration book from WWII and an image of the New York Times paper headline telling of Germany invading Poland.
In Gayle's video she restricted herself to using only what was on her desk. I can't do that. When I paper craft, I want to create something that means something other than just something to show for how I passed some empty time. I never sell anything I make so I don't worry about images I use on my pages. You, yourself, use magazine pages in some of your collages. In my collage or in the books I make, my imagination as a storyteller comes first and is, really, the only purpose for what I do. To restrict myself to only this or only that places handcuffs on my imagination. I can't do that. And, even though I was limited to the five prompts in the page I made, I still could use my imagination to create an interesting story built around those guidelines. In fact, by having the prompts, it forced me to exercise my imagination so that I could come up with a viable story for the page. By making the collage I did not use it as a means to occupy time. I did not do it as an economic act. I did it as an imaginative act. And, it was fun. Thanks for the prompts!

I downloaded and they look great! I can’t wait to try these. Ceri, my mother who died at age 63 in 1979 told me she wished she had even just write s down the weather that day as that would prompt memories. She was a farmers wife with 10 kids so time was short for her. I have tried to journal off and on over the years and i do now more with collage. I love your prompts

Hi Ceri, congratulations and thank you! I resisted the urge to do the math the first time you mentioned it, but I caved the second time 😅 Taking 5 prompts out of 100, there are 75,287,520 combinations you can get, so they will last us a couple of centuries 😂

I'm thinking popsicle sticks, as the G-baby eats a lot of those, adding a cool, a warm, or a neutral colour to each, & creating a mini snack size book for a creative warm up exercise, or when I'm just having a blah day. I am a subscriber who drops in every now and then, but so glad that I did today. Over the last couple of years my art has been totally focused on creating for others and as such I have lost a lot of the joy. I will take these prompts and usee them one at a time - I couldn't cope with using 5 at once - and use them in y art journals, maybe with collage maybe without. But a huge thank you for guiding my way back into creating for me.
